While the original news story carefully avoided saying what the Amundsen’s research topic was, Jay T. Cullen, Associate Professor of Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, helpfully tweeted:

“From July 10 to August 20 I will be aboard the CCGS Amundsen working with a group of scientists to better understand how climate change in the Arctic is affecting important physical, biological and chemical processes and conditions in the marine environment.”

I was curious if he was a global warmist. I found this at his college bio: “We aim to understand the chemical speciation and fate of trace elements in the marine environment and how natural and anthropogenic environmental perturbations affect trace element biogeochemical cycles and vice versa.”

The key word in Leftist climate alarmism is “anthropogenic”, which means “man-made”, which means “OMG fossil fuels.”

A spokesman for the Canadian Coast Guard said Tuesday that ice conditions are the worst he’s seen in 20 years. Those watching the SUN, instead of greenhouse gasses, are not surprised. We are heading into a new Grand Solar Minimum, which means a Little Ice Age is starting.

This fits with my belief that we are entering into the End Times, during which we can expect a sharp rise in violence, plagues and famines … all of which were features of the last Maunder Minimum.

Bill Nye has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He also once upon a time took an astronomy class taught by Carl Sagan. Since then, his entire career has been centered on “edutainment.” Yet he gets interviewed and quoted and TAKEN SERIOUSLY as a source for science stuff.

The latest was an interview at VOX where he said, “When you have people denying this basic process [man-made climate change], and how we all got here [undirected evolution], it’s offensive to me intellectually. And I happen to think it’s unpatriotic.”

Now, check out what source Mr. B.S. (MechEng) gives for that last bit.

“Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution says the government shall ‘promote the progress of science and useful arts’. So if you’re a politician looking to derail the progress of science, I think you’re not doing your job.”

Article I, Section 8 is the basis for patent law. He left out three-quarters of it.

“To promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries;”

Apparently, the Grand Poobah of Talking Points decided to celebrate Memorial Day by slamming right-wingers with “unpatriotic” and “dereliction of duty” accusations. (The latter was Obama’s line at the Coastie’s graduation.)

Why I am a Climate Change Skeptic by Dr. Patrick Moore (co-founder of Greenpeace) – March 20, 2015

I am skeptical humans are the main cause of climate change and that it will be catastrophic in the near future. There is no scientific proof of this hypothesis, yet we are told “the debate is over” and “the science is settled.”

My skepticism begins with the believers’ certainty they can predict the global climate with a computer model. The entire basis for the doomsday climate change scenario is the hypothesis increased atmospheric carbon dioxide due to fossil fuel emissions will heat the Earth to unlivable temperatures.

In fact, the Earth has been warming very gradually for 300 years, since the Little Ice Age ended, long before heavy use of fossil fuels. Prior to the Little Ice Age, during the Medieval Warm Period, Vikings colonized Greenland and Newfoundland, when it was warmer there than today. And during Roman times, it was warmer, long before fossil fuels revolutionized civilization.

The idea it would be catastrophic if carbon dioxide were to increase and average global temperature were to rise a few degrees is preposterous.

Beware of Wikipedia’s left-wing bias! I consulted their article about the Medieval Warm Period a number of times in the past. It used to report the long-accepted fact (based on climate, physical, social and art historical evidence) that the period was much warmer than it is now.
