Obama and Moon Cheese

2014_06 Obama and moon cheese

President Obama gave the commencement address at UC-Irvine on Saturday in which he sneered at those Republican “lunatic fringe” types who “reject the scientific evidence’ of climate change” and are as stupid as people who believe the moon is made of cheese.

The problem with his sneering is that there is actually little to no scientific support for his politically-driven position that fossil fuels are having a catastrophic effect on global climate and that we therefore must destroy our economy in order to save the planet.

In fact, one of the leading climate scientists who used to believe wholeheartedly in Anthropogenic Global Warming has disproved the theory with his own research and is now a “lunatic fringe” denier. For Obama to say that a man of THAT stature is a fringe lunatic who ignores science is ludicrous.

In recent weeks, climate alarmists have been on the bandwagon over melting at a West Antarctic glacier. Mother Jones said it was “What a Holy Shit Moment for Global Warming Looks Like.” There are two SCIENTIFIC problems with this Chicken Little scenario.

1. Global warming projections are based on computer models, not observations.
2. Observations by actual scientists who study the actual glacier show the melting is due to subterranean volcanic activity.

Even climate alarmists will admit that magma is hot enough to melt ice, right?

The indoctrination continues

A California school district assigned 8th graders to write an essay about the Holocaust describing “whether or not you believe this was an actual event in history, or merely a political scheme created to influence public emotion and gain wealth.”

2014_05 Holocaust denial assignment

The 18-page assignment instructions included three sources that students were told to use. One of the three is an Australian holocaust denier site that says gassings in concentration camps were a hoax and that Israel just wants money. Another section in the packet says Anne Frank was a fraud.

The district claims they did not any receive ANY complaints about the assignment from parents, teachers or administrators. I think they’re lying. SOMEBODY broke this story and who is more likely than an outraged parent who got the brush off?

I’ve BTDT trying to talk to arrogant educators who thought parents were good for nothing beyond fund raising. They all but patted me on the head while looking down their noses and informing me, “WE are the professionals. WE know what’s best. Go make cupcakes for the bake sale.”

The district has responded to the public outcry and says they’re removing the assignment. But let me guess how likely it is that they paid any attention to a PARENT who complained.

  • The Interim Superintendent is named Mohammad Z. Islam; I am not making that up.
  • The district’s spokeswoman is named Syeda Jafri. A google search suggested she’s from Pakistan.

Look. I’m not being racist here, just pointing out a fact. The two biggest Holocaust-denier groups are white supremacists and Muslims. And we all know which of those two groups the Obamacrats are all cozy with, don’t we?

Here’s my suggestion for a better assignment:

Write an essay about Anthropogenic Global Climate Change describing whether or not you believe this is a scientific fact or merely a political scheme created to influence public emotion and gain wealth.

Yeah. That’ll really fly with Commie Core. Not.

Faith, Science and the Shroud of Turin

This interview is fascinating!

EWTN Live – Barrie Schwortz – Shroud of Turin – 2013-11-6 – Catholic History [56:34]

Zugibe's crucifixion book

Schwortz mentions this book by Dr. Zugibe, who was a leading expert in the field of forensic medicine and chief medical examiner of Rockland County, New York from 1969 to 2002. He spent a good portion of his life studying crucifixion and the Shroud of Turin. I am part way through his book and loving it. His writing is clear and easy for this non-scientist to follow, even when he gets into anatomy, chemistry and other geeky CSI stuff for which I have no background beyond tenth grade biology. Among other things, I’ve learned how Jesus actually died (it wasn’t suffocation) and how the nails went in through his palms and came out at his wrists (they were angled just like you angle a picture hook and for the same reason). Learning in detail what Jesus endured has built my faith and gratitude so much that it’s hard to describe. I highly recommend it.

I got this from my Catholic Catechism emails this week:

The Catholic Church teaches that there is no insoluble contradiction between faith and science, because there is only one truth, to which both faith and scientific reason refer. Faith reminds science that it is supposed to serve creation and not set itself up in place of God. Science must respect human dignity instead of violating it.

Think of the children, for goodness sake

Christianity has done more for science than atheism ever could By Matt Walsh

The new Common Core “Next Generation” science standards … call for a renewed emphasis on man-caused climate change and, of course, evolution. Evolution — atheistic, nihilistic, materialistic, mindless evolution — must be taught as fact, without other ideas presented to compete with the theory.

Too often Christians cede “science” to the atheist and shrink away from his challenges, backing off in defeat while muttering something about “faith” and “belief.” “Well, you might have your fancy science books, but I’ve got faith.”

Yes, faith and belief are important, but you, my Christian compatriot, are standing on the Mountain of Truth. You have the high ground. YOU have the facts and the science on your side.

Your faith does NOT conflict with science. Christianity built this civilization; your Christian ancestors are the pioneers behind the greatest advancements in many fields of study.

You’d be hard pressed to find a single bit of modern scientific knowledge that wasn’t discovered, or heavily influenced by, the work of devout Christians.

Our understanding of the universe deepened so profoundly during the Christian era because of the Christian tradition that brought a sense of order and rationality to the universe.

Really, we must get atheism away from education before we all end up like the modern atheist’s greatest prophet, Nietchsze, who died insane and naked, eating his own feces in a mental institution. This is not the sort of fate we should wish upon our children.

Too smart to be stupid

BIRD head spinning

The standard talking point among Darwin advocates WAS that no genuine scientist opposes the theory of evolution. BUT, so many genuine scientists have now jumped off the Darwin wagon, the faithful have had to find a new meme.

It’s “only some molecular biologists” who have fallen off the wagon, but really, it’s okay! Because, clearly they just are not able to appreciate the “superior truth” of evolution because they’re so steeped in the study of the inner workings of life at its most basic levels.

Shorter Meme: The fallen have lost their faith in Darwin because they got too smart about biology.

  • Riiiiiiiiiiight. That really works. ::snort::
