Lunar Eclipse Over Bluebonnets

2014_04 15 Eclipse over Bluebonnets

Photographer’s story:

I had been planning this shot for about two weeks before Tuesday morning’s lunar eclipse.

With every lunar eclipse that occurs, my social media feeds blow up with tight shots of the moon, which are great for detail, but I’ve always felt they lacked “life.” With that said, I knew that I wanted to create a composition that not only showed the amazing eclipse, but tied in an incredible foreground as well. I mean, why not include the Earth? We are kind of the reason for the lunar eclipse, right?

With the spring wildflowers popping up around the area, I really narrowed down a search for a large bluebonnet field. I loved the idea of a big blue field contrasting with the red moon. After some tips via Facebook, I found a field in Ennis, Texas that would be perfect for my composition. It faced south, was far enough from the Dallas city lights that light pollution wouldn’t be an issue, and it was just full of acres of bluebonnets.

I set out around 11 p.m. with fellow photographer friend James Langford and then spent the next seven hours shooting the moon transitions.

I shot the field image with my Nikon D800 and a 24-70mm lens, then the moon with a Nikon 70-200mm lens. I made sure to shoot the transitions every 10 minutes to make sure that I would have a complete transition to use. Once the eclipse was over, I then combined all the phases with the landscape image to create the final composition.

Me and Mama Buzz chatted during the eclipse

I couldn’t see the moon from my house and it rained anyway, so I watched for a while on-line. But so did a bazillion other people, because Ustream crashed! This was my last screenshot with Bunny Desktop peeking around the edge. 🙂

Mama Buzz could sit in comfort on her own bed and see the whole thing from her window. These are two pics she took with her phone. Later on, it was too dark to photograph, but she said she could see red and also Mars.

Why I spend so much time on sky signs

Some years ago, the DVD “The Star of Bethlehem” rocked my world. I gave it to everyone on my Christmas list and have watched it again and again. The full story of the sky signs God arranged to mark the birth of His Son convinced me He will most certainly arrange awesome sky signs to mark His return.  I recently found the entire DVD available for instant, free viewing at YouTube.  I highly recommend you watch all of it and really pay attention.

TRIPLE Sky Sign on April 15, 2014

PART ONE:  First of TETRAD of Blood Moons

In 20014 and 2015, there will be FOUR full lunar eclipses (aka, Blood Moons); the last full lunar eclipse was in December 2010. Four in only two years is so rare, it has happened only two times before this in the past 500 years.

The first Blood Moon in the TETRAD will begin at 2:00 am EDT on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. Totality will occur roughly between 3:00 and 4:30 am EDT. On the Hebrew calendar, April 15, 2014 will be Nisan 15, 5774, which is the FIRST DAY OF PASSOVER. If it’s cloudy or you are somewhere on the planet that won’t see the eclipse, there will be a live webcast of it @ http://stargazersonline.org/lunar_eclipse_04-15.html.

PART TWO: Proximity of Mars to Earth and Blood Moon

Mars, the RED planet, is named for the ancient Roman god of WAR.

“The huge RED dragon, the ancient serpent, is called the Devil and Satan. It was allowed to wage WAR against the holy ones.” Revelation 13:7

PART THREE:  Blood Moon and Mars within Constellation Virgo

2014_04 14 Blood Moon and Mars with Virgo outline

Virgo (Latin for Virgin) is the largest constellation of the Zodiac. It’s brightest star is known as Spica or Alpha Virginis (Latin for FIRST VIRGIN).

“Then the Lord said to the SNAKE … I will put enmity between you and the WOMAN, and between your offspring and hers; They will strike at your head, while you strike at their heel.” Genesis 3:14-15

In Christian tradition, the SNAKE is identified with the devil and the WOMAN with the Virgin Mary, the mother of the Messiah and therefore of the Church.

Virgo glyph - Mary and Jesus

Virgo is the second-largest constellation in the sky. The largest is the water-snake Hydra, a mythical monster with multiple heads.

“Then I saw a beast come out of the sea with ten horns and seven heads.” Revelation 13:1

Virgo drawing and facts

I was particularly struck to see the Blood Moon and Mars inside Virgo, especially when I learned these other factoids about the constellation.  It fits so perfectly with the end times calendar I’ve been working on, which puts Rapture at Passover, followed by a 6 months period I call Laodicea (when Jesus will knock on the hearts of the Left Behind).  If I’ve got this right, the 7-year treaty will coincide with the beginning of the next Jewish year (5775) in the fall of 2014.  This will put Armageddon in late summer of 2021 (at the end of 5781) and the Final Judgment in autumn of 2021 (at the time of the Feast of In-gathering of 5782).

About that solar eclipse on March 20, 2015

We are coming up on the extraordinary sky signs of a Tetrad of total lunar eclipses SPLIT by a total solar eclipse.

Tetrad - Four blood moons coming

The total solar eclipse of March 2015 will also SPLIT the Old World and the New World.

2015_03 20 Total Solar Eclipse

For those of us anticipating the End Times, this is significant, because End Times prophecies suggest that the #1 world power will move from the New World (U.S.) back to the Old World, specifically the area once occupied by the Roman Empire.

2015_03-04 Solar eclipse and Easter

In Jewish lore, a solar eclipse signifies a harsh period. The following comes from “Ask the Rabbi” —

This can be compared to a human king who made a feast for his subjects, and placed a lantern before them. When he grew angry with them, he told his servant, “Take away the lantern from before them, and place them in darkness!” (Talmud Bavli, Succah 29a)

The king is G-d, the King of Kings; the people at the table are ourselves; the lantern is the sun. The moon obscuring the sun is the kings servant who takes away the lantern.

Although eclipses can be described in entirely natural terms and occur at set intervals, they nevertheless indicate that the period is one of Divine retribution for various sins.

But an eclipse does not mean that the sun has been extinguished (contrary to what everyone else in the world thought)! The servant did not extinguish the lantern; he merely prevented it from illuminating the kings subjects.

The eclipse will peak in mid-morning (09:45 UT). Around 11 pm (22:45 UT), the Earth will pass through the Spring Equinox, the moment at which day and night are SPLIT (exactly the same length everywhere on the planet).

In between the eclipse and the equinox will be the sundown that begins a special Sabbath celebration.

Nisan 1, 5775 is the first day of the Jewish ecclesiastical year, the day when God began to give His laws to them. In 5775/2015, Nisan 1 will be on the Sabbath, beginning at the first hour of darkness on the day of the solar eclipse that SPLITs the Tetrad and the Old/New Worlds.

This day is known as Shabbat HaChodesh. It comes precisely in the middle of the Jewish calendar year, thus the solar eclipse will also SPLIT the Shemitah of 5775, the year when all debts are forgiven.

The readings for the day include Ezekiel 45:16 – 46:18 and Exodus 12:1-20. I was particularly struck by the references to the prince providing the sacrifice.

Deuteronomy 15:1-2 At the end of seven years you will make a release. And this is the manner of the release: to release the hand of every creditor from what he lent his friend; he shall not exact from his friend or his brother, because the time of the release for the L-rd has arrived.

Ezekiel 45:17 The prince shall provide the sin offerings, the meal offerings, the burnt offerings, and the offerings of well-being, to make expiation for the House of Israel.

Exodus 12:1 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt: 2 This month shall mark for you the beginning of the months; it shall be the first of the months of the year for you. 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish. 7 They shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses in which they are to eat it. 12 For that night I will go through the land of Egypt and strike down every first-born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and I will mete out punishments to all the gods of Egypt, I the Lord. 13 And the blood on the houses where you are staying shall be a sign for you: when I see the blood I will pass over you, so that no plague will destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.

If you don’t have goosebumps yet, check this out. This is what the calendar looked like the year that Jesus died and rose again. In our modern calendar, counting backwards, the year was 33 A.D.  (The Holy Thursday Seder was a special Essene custom, a Passover meal without any lamb. It was explained in the Dead Sea Scrolls.)

3793 Nisan Jesus the Firstfruits

Now look back at the solar eclipse calendar. Do you see the extraordinary MATCHING of dates between 3793 – 33 and 5775 – 2015? How about if you look at it like this …

3793-33 matches 5775-2015 dates

NOW do you have goosebumps?

JANUARY 2014

2014_01 Black Super Moon New Year

January 2014 began with a New Moon. A New Moon symbolizes new beginnings.

January 2014 will end with a Black Moon. When a second new moon falls within a single solar calendar month, it is called a Black Moon. This happens approximately once every 3 or 4 years.

The January 2014 Black Moon will also be a Super Moon. When a New Moon (or a Full Moon) coincides with the closest approach the Moon makes to the Earth on its elliptical orbit, it is called a Super Moon, because its proximity makes it look bigger than at any other time.

MARCH 2014

2014_03 2d Black Moon, Purim St Pats together

March 2014 will begin with a Sabbath New Moon and end with the second Black Moon in a single year. Black Moons usually occur only once in 3 or 4 years. In 2014, they will happen in January and March.

March 2014 will also feature back-to-back Jewish and Catholic holidays about national freedom, heroism, public displays of merriment and consumption of large quantities of alcohol. They will also coincide with the Full Moon.

  • Purim: A Jewish holiday that celebrates Esther, a young Jewess who was chosen by the Persian King Ahasueras to be his queen, and was able to use her position to foil a plot to exterminate the Jews.
  • St. Patrick’s Day: A Catholic holiday that celebrates Patrick, a young Catholic who was kidnapped from his home in Briton and sold into slavery in Ireland. After he escaped, he voluntarily returned to Ireland to preach Gospel.

Because the Jewish calendar is lunar while the Catholic calendar is solar, it is unusual for days and dates to coincide. The last time Purim and St. Patrick’s were near each other was 2003 when they landed on the same day.
