Feast of St. John the Beloved

DAILY PRAYER: O St. John, beloved disciple of the Lord, teach us to rest our hearts near Jesus and to remain faithful in times of trial. Help us to love as Christ loves and to walk always in His truth and light. Pray for us, that we may live as true disciples and grow in love for God and one another. Amen.

CALIFORNICATION: The new law bans declawing unless a veterinarian determines it is necessary for a therapeutic purpose, in which case the veterinarian is required to prepare and file a written statement explaining his decision.

A veterinarian who fails to comply with this section shall be subject to discipline by the board, which shall make a determination as to whether or not to impose penalties, including, but not limited to, fines, suspension of license, or revocation of license.

EVERYDAY HEROES: When a young boy became lost and scared, this Royal Guard chose compassion over protocol, offering comfort until the child was safely reunited with his parents.

HOPE: According to new data from Pew Research Center’s Religious Landscape Study, 44% of U.S. adults say they pray at least once a day while another 23% say they pray weekly or a few times a month. The oddest result on the poll are the 2% of self-proclaimed atheists who claim to pray. ??

HUNGARY: Hungary has officially amended its constitution to restrict legal gender recognition to only male or female, removing any possibility for transgender or non-binary identities to be acknowledged under Hungarian law.

LAKEN RILEY ACT: Trump signed this act into law on January 29, 2025. It is named in honor of a 22-year-old nursing student from Georgia who was murdered by a Venezuelan illegal immigrant in February 2024. The law requires DHS to detain illegal immigrants who have been arrested for theft, burglary, shoplifting, or larceny. To date, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has used it to round up more than 17,500 criminal illegal aliens.

MS NOW: The fake news network formerly known as MSNBC aired a so-called “journalist” named Paola Ramos speaking stupidity. I saw the clip earlier this week and thought it was so imbecilic that it had to be a clickbait prank. It turns out I was wrong. Ramos actually posted it on her own Instagram with the following “pat on her own back” narration.

“The pronatalist movement, a movement that encourages people to have more babies is once again gaining momentum in the far right. Remember, Trump said he wants to be the ‘president of fertility.’

“Malcolm and Simone Collins, who are big Trump supporters, are two of the main leaders of this movement, which includes people like Elon Musk as well as individuals that believe in the Great Replacement Theory or religious leaders. It’s a big, complex and growing movement, particularly now that it has political allies.

“For the Collins, who want to have 12 children, the mass production of genetically selected humans is part of the key to ‘saving civilization.’ They use it to screen for cancer (runs in the family) as well as IQ. Although they vehemently deny being white supremacists, some of their practices and their preachings recall the dark era of eugenics.”

CLICK https://www.instagram.com/p/DSlT8UbkbMf/ [1:51] to hear what she’s so proud of. Best comment: “This belief is so common on the left that libs watching this clip think she’s absolutely destroying that couple.”

FYI: It’s also posted @ https://x.com/Catholicizm1/status/2003568641141592131 if the Instagram one doesn’t work for you.

NIGERIA: On December 25, the Department of War executed numerous strikes on ISIS locations in northwest Nigeria. Islamists have murdered more than 7,000 Christians in the country this year.

OBAMA PRESIDENTIAL CENTER: After months of mockery, a spokesperson claimed, “The shape of the building was meant to mimic four hands coming together to show the importance of our collective action.” Hands?! Puh-leeze.

Comments: “Yeah, whatever you were going for, failed miserably. Looks like a 6 year old with Legos made that.” “Well, that’s odd. I was certain it was meant to mimic Darth Vader’s summer home on Hoth.” “So it’s not really an abstract of a Porta Potty?” “still looks like a gigantic trash receptacle…” “My thought the Obama Center was meant to mimic a big toe.

Personally, I think it looks like the home of IT in “A Wrinkle in Time.” Either that or one of the Azkaban prison designs the director rejected.

PRAYER for OUR NATION: Dear Lord, Unite our hearts and heal every division within our nation. Let Your peace rule over us all. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

STUDENT VISAS: CLICK https://x.com/NathanielSami/status/2004354220036927814 [3:42] to hear Rep. Jayapal ask Sec. Rubio a question, then refuse to listen to his answer.

THE REASON FOR THE SEASON: Mangers in Bethlehem were not wooden bins to hold hay. The animals ate grass all day, so were given only water at night. And since wood is scarce, but limestone is not, the water troughs were (and are) carved from stone. So both the Baby Jesus and our Crucified Lord were wrapped in cloth and laid to rest in a stone box.

VAXXXINE: CLICK https://x.com/ValerieAnne1970/status/2004218093883871729 [1:24] to hear VP Vance talk about his experience with the jab. Strange to hear the jab didn’t keep him from getting COVID five times. Makes me wonder if it actually damaged his immune system, since getting COVID is supposed to give you durable immunity from future infections.

Feast of St. Stephen

DAILY PRAYER: O eternal Shepherd, look favorably upon Your flock, and guard it by Your continual protection through Blessed Stephen, Your Martyr. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

ECONOMY: Since Trump took office, our GDP growth rate has jumped from 2.3% to 4.3%, a rate increase of 79%. An internal White House memo circulated last week said the change was due to

  1. Enacting a sweeping tax and budget bill, dubbed the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” which proponents say has boosted business investment and disposable income.
  2. Raising tariffs on imported goods, an effort the administration says has helped narrow the trade deficit and stimulate domestic manufacturing.
  3. Rolling back regulations across energy, banking, and environmental sectors to reduce compliance burdens and spur corporate activity.
  4. Lowering energy prices, particularly oil and gas, as part of a broader “energy independence” push, which the administration says has lowered business costs and spurred consumption.
  5. Reducing interest rates, a goal the administration has publicly advocated for, arguing that lower borrowing costs will further stimulate investment and consumer spending.

EDUCATION: Last May, he Trump administration ended the COVID pause on student loan repayments and began collecting on the debts by withholding tax refunds and other federal payments to the 5 million borrowers in default. Beginning in the first week of January, the department said that it will begin garnishing wages as well.

FRAUD TOURISM: “Democrats call it ‘social services.’ Everyone else calls it ‘money laundering.’” [14:16] – Minnesota is making New York look good.

GEORGIA: The Georgia Aquarium is located in Atlanta, DeKalb County, which is the only excuse I have for posting the video here. But I thought it was really interesting, so here it is! [12:55] – On December 17, 2025, DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson signed an executive order stating that the COVID state of emergency is officially ending and that all employees will need to return to the office, with some hybrid work allowed.

“This executive order marks an important step forward for DeKalb County. It confirms the end of the emergency period while putting in place a work plan that balances flexibility with responsibility and ensures we continue to deliver reliable, high-quality services to our residents.”

As of Jan. 5, all county offices under the CEO’s supervision will be staffed during regular business hours.

“In-person service matters. Having staff present in our offices strengthens accountability, collaboration, and efficiency across county government and improves the experience for the people we serve.”

The order allows eligible employees to work remotely if their jobs can be performed remotely. The order also confirms that wearing face masks is permitted but not required absent a new public health emergency.

How many homes do you need?” Bernie Sanders “Do I own 3 residences? Yeah. PRAYER for OUR NATION: Dear Lord, Grant us the graces we need to humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways, In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

Christmas Eve

DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, Thank You for coming into the world as a little baby! In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

BORDER: The Department of Homeland Security is offering illegal aliens $3,000 if they voluntarily self-deport from the U.S. before the new year.

DOGE: During the past week, federal agencies terminated 55 wasteful contracts, saving We The Taxpayers $261 million. These included $1.6 million HUD contract to “provide coherent, accurate, comprehensive, timely and current digital news” and a $4.5 million HHS contract for the “coordination of quality and public reporting programs and websites.”

EPSTEIN: Newly released Justice Department records show that an artist who worked for Jeffrey Epstein filed a complaint with the FBI on Sept. 3, 1996. The whistleblower, Maria Farmer, told the feds that Epstein had stolen explicit photos of her underage sisters. She received no meaningful response from the bureau for nearly a decade.

GEORGIA: During a Dec. 9 hearing before the Georgia State Election Board (SEB), Fulton County admitted that polling workers had failed to sign off on 134 tabulator tapes, representing 315,000 votes. These signatures are critical to the certification process.

David Cross, a local election integrity activist, said, “These are not clerical errors. They are catastrophic breaks in chain of custody and certification.”

Biden allegedly won Georgia’s 16 electoral votes by a scant 11,779 votes. Prior to this, the state had not backed a Democrat for president in nearly 30 years.

As long as someone answers

“Every Tuesday at 3 PM, my mother calls the same wrong number.

Has for six years.

“Hello, this is Susan. Is Robert there?”

Same response every time, “No Robert here. Wrong number.”

“Oh, I’m so sorry to bother you.”

Then she hangs up. Sets a reminder for next Tuesday.

I thought it was dementia. Mom’s 71. Maybe forgetting she’d already tried this number.

“Mom, that’s not Robert’s number. You’ve called it 300 times. Why do you keep calling?”

She looked at me strangely. “I know it’s not Robert’s number.”

“Then why”

“Because someone answers.”

Turned out, the woman who answers is 83. Lives alone. Has severe social anxiety. Never leaves her apartment. No family. No friends.

“Six years ago, I called your brother’s old number by mistake,” Mom explained. “Woman answered. We talked for two minutes. When I apologized for the wrong number, she said, ‘Please call again anyway. Nobody calls me.'”

“So you just… kept calling?”

“Every Tuesday. We talk for exactly twelve minutes. About nothing. Weather. TV shows. Her cat. Then I say I have to go, and she says okay.”

“For six years?”

“For six years.”

“Does she know you’re calling on purpose?”

“Of course. I’m not subtle. But we maintain the fiction. I ‘accidentally’ call. She ‘happens’ to answer. We pretend it’s chance, not choice.”

“Why the pretend?”

“Because accepting help is hard. Accepting a wrong number is easy.”

Mom’s phone buzzed. Tuesday, 3 PM reminder.

She dialed. “Hello, this is Susan. Is Robert there?”

A pause. Then laughter. “No Robert here, Susan. But I’m here. How was your week?”

I listened to them talk. About the weather. A TV show. The cat’s vet appointment.

Twelve minutes exactly. Then, “I should let you go.”

“Okay, Susan. Same time next week?”

“Oh, I’m sure I’ll accidentally dial this number again.”

More laughter. Goodbye.

Mom hung up. Looked at me. “Her name is Dorothy. I’ve never met her. Don’t know her last name. Don’t know her address. Just her voice every Tuesday for twelve minutes.”

“What if you stop calling?”

“Then she stops having Tuesdays.”

Mom died last year. Suddenly. Heart attack.

I found Dorothy’s number in her phone. Called it.

“Hello?”

“Hi. My name is Sarah. I’m Susan’s daughter. I think… I think you were expecting her call today.”

Silence. Then crying.

“She’s gone, isn’t she?”

“Yes. I’m so sorry.”

“Can I ask you something? Did she ever tell you why she really called?”

“She said you needed someone to call.”

“That’s what she told you. But I’m calling to tell you why I answered. Because your mother’s voice on Tuesdays was the only thing that kept me alive. I had the pills ready four times. Four different Tuesdays. And every time, at 3 PM, she called. And I couldn’t do it after hearing her voice.”

I’ve been calling Dorothy every Tuesday for nine months now.

Same time. Same “wrong number” fiction.

Because my mother taught me, sometimes the most important call you make is to the wrong person.

On purpose.

Every Tuesday.

For as long as someone answers.

Twenty-Fourth Day of Advent

DAILY PRAYER: Mother of God, Virgin of expectation, grant that the God-who-comes will find us ready to receive the abundance of his mercy. We pray in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

FILM HISTORY: [24:16] – Yet another “it’s gonna flop” Christmas movie that became an annual “must see” holiday tradition.

IMMIGRATION: As of Dec. 19, Trump Gold Cards have brought in more than $1.3 billion. The president says the money will go to pay down our national debt.

MINNESOTA: [3:53] – The total amount stolen by Somalis amounts to ¾ of Somalia’s GDP. ::smh::

PRAYER for OUR NATION: Dear Lord, Remove hatred and division from our country. Let love and understanding fill our land. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

PSA: You’re welcome. I’ve never been able to remember how to spell this word, but I guarantee I won’t forget again!

SOROS: [13:32] – I am genuinely grateful the Dems stole the election in 2020. If Trump had won his second term then, his second four years would’ve largely been mired in the same crap as the first four. By cheating their way into four years of unrestrained, far-left governance, Democrats gave Trump time to plan how to fix the swamp while millions of Americans finally saw the rot in time to give him the mandate to do it.

VENEZUELA: On Dec. 20, members of the U.S. Coast Guard with the support of the Department of War apprehended a “false-flagged” oil tanker that was last docked in Venezuela. The vessel, which was illegally flying a Panamanian flag, was operating as part of the Venezuelan shadow fleet to traffic stolen oil.

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said, “The United States will continue to pursue the illicit movement of sanctioned oil that is used to fund narco terrorism in the region. We will find you, and we will stop you.”

VIRGINIA: Marvin Morales-Ortez (photo) is a 23-year-old illegal alien from El Salvador and an accused member of the notorious street gang MS-13. On December 17th, authorities at the Fairfax County jail ignored ICE’s retainer request and, despite the fact he has been charged with at least seven crimes in Fairfax County since 2020, they released him back into the community. Hours later, he shot and killed a man in Reston, VA. He now has a new charge on his rap sheet, namely, 2nd degree murder.

Twenty-Third Day of Advent

DAILY PRAYER: O Emmanuel, our King and Lawgiver, the One whom the nations long for and their Savior: come and save us, O Lord our God.

AMFEST: [11:34] – Turley gives some clarity to the infighting.

CANADA: I have a Canadian cousin. She complains regularly about the postal system.

EVERYDAY HEROES: Posted by Sarah Hull – “I was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer that was cutting off my airway at 20 weeks of pregnancy. I will never forget when the first doctor, an oncologist, mentioned abortion. We had gone thru years of infertility to get pregnant. I knew I would rather die and give birth.

“Then I met with another doctor who listed all of the problems the baby would have if I did not terminate. I stood my ground and refused. He said, ‘That is ok. The baby will probably spontaneously abort anyway.’

“I searched and found good doctors that supported me, and I gave birth to a healthy baby at 34 weeks.

I will be celebrating 10 years cancer free in May. I have a healthy, beautiful, bright, precious 10 year old daughter who is a living reminder that doctors do not know everything”

GREAT MINDS: Mama Buzz included this in a set of photos from their trip to D.C. When I asked what it was about, she replied, “Lol! That was my parking spot. I forgot to delete the picture. I’ve gotten in the habit of doing that in parking garages or other unfamiliar parking places.” What a great idea!!

MUSIC HISTORY: [6:52] – The Wanamaker Organ is the largest functioning musical instrument in the world.

PRAYER for OUR NATION: Heavenly Father, We come before You with humbled hearts, seeking Your face for our nation. Turning hearts towards righteousness and restore unity among all our people. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

SCIENCE: A study entitled “High- and Low-Fat Dairy Consumption and Long-Term Risk of Dementia Evidence From a 25-Year Prospective Cohort Study” has been published in this month’s edition of Neurology. It reports that those of the 27,670 participants who regularly consumed 50 grams per day or more of high-fat cheese daily – roughly a third of a cup – or cream per day had a lower risk of developing dementia.

However, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to Alzheimer’s prevention. The study also showed that the 15-20% of people who carry at least one copy of a genetic variant known as APOE ε4 genetic variant, got no benefit from high fat dairy intake.

Twenty-Second Day of Advent

DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, Draw all close to You this holiday season. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

ART OF THE DEAL: President Donald Trump announced agreements with nine of the largest pharmaceutical companies to offer drugs to Americans at lower prices. The deals with Amgen, Bristol Myers Squibb, Genentech, Merck, and five others will reduce costs for treatments related to autoimmune diseases, cancer, diabetes, and other disorders. Five others signed on to the initiative earlier this year, leaving only three holdouts.

EVERYDAY HEROES: [1:30] – Shout out to all the moms and dads out there who play with and celebrate their kids on a daily basis.

FILM HISTORY: [3:39] – The stop motion version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer first aired on NBC on December 6, 1964. It took about 18 months to complete, with filming done in Japan, music recorded in England, and the voices recorded in Toronto. Nine of the puppets — including Santa and young Rudolph — were given to the producer’s secretary, who gave them to her nieces and nephews, who played with them under the Christmas tree. In the early 2000s, the family sold them to TimeandSpaceToys.com president Kevin A. Kriess who had them restored. In 2020, they were sold at auction for $368,000 sale price, then donated to the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS: President Trump granted many federal workers an unprecedented five-day holiday break over Christmas by adding two extra paid days off, the 24th and the 26th.

INDIANA: In 2022, between July and September, there were 2,967 abortions reported. This year, with the state having fully implemented its abortion ban, that number was 42. At this time, abortions are allowed only in instances of rape, incest, fatal fetal anomalies, or to prevent substantial permanent impairment of the pregnant woman’s life.

LA: Just one year after the Palisades fire, Los Angeles leadership has shut down the same reservoir that was empty at the time it was needed most. CLICK https://x.com/TheKevinDalton/status/2001644844876476657 [2:10] to hear about more Democrat incompetence.

OPERATION HAWKEYE STRIKE: On Dec. 13, an ISIS gunman killed two U.S. Army soldiers and a civilian interpreter and wounded three others in Palmyra, Syria. Trump ordered a retaliation strike on dozens of ISIS infrastructure and weapons sites in Syria on Dec. 19.

War Secretary Pete Hegseth said, “This is not the beginning of a war — it is a declaration of vengeance. Today, we hunted and we killed our enemies. Lots of them. And we will continue.”

President Trump said on social media that the Syrian government fully supported the strikes.

PRAYER for OUR NATION: Dear Lord, May we each respond to the call to pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

TRANS: The Protect Children’s Innocence Act passed the House in a 216-211 vote. The bill makes it a federal crime to knowingly perform or attempt to perform gender “affirming” procedures on or provide medications to minors. Exceptions are carved out for specific medical conditions and prohibits the arrest or prosecution of patients.

DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, Grant us the graces we need to set aside the last minute rush of the season and just enjoy it all. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

2A: The Brown University shooting has brought out the usual leftist calls to ban guns. But if they couldn’t keep people safe on a gun-free college campus, then what makes them think that disarming an entire nation would be a good idea?

AT THE FAINTING COUCH: Dave Carter’s essay on “The Deadly Side of Luxury Beliefs” doesn’t contain anything we all here in the garden haven’t said a million times. But dang, he says it with so much finesse, panache, and humor that it is totally worth your time. A taste to whet your appetite: “For the final performance in their flaming porta-potty rodeo, our self-appointed superiors displayed a staggering level of ineptitude in foreign policy and national defense that made Neville Chamberlain look like he rode shotgun with Genghis Khan on weekends.”

BROWN U SHOOTER: Rhode Island officials believe the man responsible for murdering two students and injuring nine other on Saturday has been found dead by suicide. After they won in the Supreme Court, the states of New York and Pennsylvania decided to force the issue, so they’re back in court. Mark Rienzi, president of Becket and their lead attorney calls the left’s “14-year legal crusade against the Little Sisters … needless, grotesque, and un-American.”

MILWAUKEE: On Thursday, Judge Hannah Dugan was found guilty by a jury on one count of felony obstruction for having helped and illegal alien escape from federal immigration officers on April 18, 2025. Dugan argued that she was acting within the scope of her official duties and therefore entitled to judicial immunity, but attempts to dismiss the case were denied. She can still appeal the verdict.
