California gun collector put under psychiatric observation

posted by Bob

His house also featured a secret escape tunnel. My favorite quote from the dimwit television reporter: “Wow! He has about a million machine gun bullets!” The headline referred to it as a “massive weapons cache.”

I’m skeptical about the pile of ammunition boxes and cans that they showed.  It didn’t look big enough to contain more than about 100,000 rounds, unless there was a lot of .22 rimfire ammo. However, by southern California standards, even someone owning 100,000 rounds would be considered “mentally unstable.”

Just imagine if he lived elsewhere.

In Arizona, he’d be called “an avid gun collector.”

In Texas, he’d be called “a novice gun collector.”

In Utah, he’d be called “moderately well prepared,” assuming that he also had a corresponding quantity of stored food.

In Montana, he’d be called “the neighborhood ‘go-to’ guy.”

In Idaho, he’d be called “a likely gubernatorial candidate.”

And in Wyoming, he’d be called “an eligible bachelor.”

  1. LOL ! My next door neighbor is a big honcho in the NRA and teaches shootin’ guns. They have guns and a gazillion rounds stored all over their house. If they ever have a house fire, we’d have to evacuate the neighborhood !

That thought made me lol. In Louisiana, that guy would be called a Cajun! 😉 The vast majority of the people I know have multiple guns in the home. Locked up securely, of course!

I love this type of article because for people like me that believe in the second ammendment, but have no gun knowledge or exposure, it helps put this sort of thing into context. All I can say is, while it sounds like a lot of guns and ammunition for someone like me, that perspective would sure change in a heartbeat is there was an inside or outside threat to our Republic . . . and we’re kind of there already = (

Sadly, you’re right Winston. There is a threat from within-Dems/Unions; and a threat from without, Islamic Extremists and China, Russia, et al.

      • I agree. I’m more than a little embarrassed to admit this (especially to you, Gracie!), but I have never learned to shoot — despite having been married for 33 years to one of those “avid gun collectors” mentioned above. However, with the way things are going, something tells me this will be the year that I finally learn.

Better late than never! 😀 In Louisiana, we learn to handle firearms at an early age. First lesson: Never point a gun at anything you don’t intend to shoot…even if it is unloaded.
