THE AFTERMATH GRUDGE; DAY II

Posted by Pistol Pete

As most of you surmised yesterday I was distraught to the point of inconsolation.I determined since my party let me I had nowhere else to go and just give up.After all,I have cable and baseball season starts in two weeks.

Then I read some of the comments at the end of yesterday’s Grudge and realized we’re all in this struggle together. Our enemies don’t win unless we surrender. At the risk  of sounding maudlin,I really appreciate having such a superb support system to uphold my spirit.

AS I WAS RESEARCHING TODAY I CAME ACROSS THIS;APPARENTLY THE GOP BETRAYAL DID NOT GO UNNOTICED.

I liked my kids best when their friends were dairy kids. They were so GRATEFUL to do the few chores we gave them, none of which involved getting up before dawn or mucking manure.

When I told Dearest about this, he was surprised the disapproves were only 44%. Then I reminded him the poll population was Marines who subscribe to the Marine Times.

IMHO, people who choose the military are among the most patriotic, gung ho, follow-the-rules members of society and the ones who choose the Marine Corps for their service are at the higher end of the patriotic, gung ho, follow-the-rules spectrum.

And, I’m guessing here, but it seems likely to me that those Marines who choose to read the Marine Times are likely to be at the most gung ho end of the gung ho Corps.

IOW, these are the very citizens who are LEAST LIKELY to criticize the Commander-In-Chief.

IMHO, 44% demonstrates a disturbingly HIGH level of distrust with Barack Obama’s leadership among the best of our best.

“I really appreciate having such a superb support system to uphold my spirit.”

I think that one of the short-comings of the Tortoise and the Hare is that the story gives the impression that the Tortoise kept on keeping on all by his lonesome. But we don’t really manage that very well, do we?

We need reasons and encouragement … sponsors, fellow travelers, loved ones cheering from the stands, something meaningful waiting at the goal line. I think this is why I have always hated cynics so much. I feel they let the rest of us down.

It’s not that they don’t agree with what we’re trying to accomplish or that they will not be happy to take the benefits if we succeed. We know they do and they will.

It’s that they’re content to take the easiest, most selfish path, all the while acting like they’re so morally and intellectually superior to those of us who refuse to stop believing, working, cheering each other on. They act like we’re too stupid to see we might fail. We’re not stupid; we just refuse to let the possibility of failure stop us from trying to succeed. They think they’re so smart, yet by refusing to try, they ensure failure, all the while moaning about how horrible the consequences of that failure are.

I commend you for fighting that seductive trap, Pete. I’ve seen you do it over and over and over. It is tough, esp where you live. Add on the disheartening work of compiling the Grudge Report and I don’t know how you keep on keeping on. You are a lot stronger than I am, Pete. I could not look at all the news you do. I can’t even look at all of the Grudge Report. I’d end up putting my wrists in the oven.

We need you. I need you. Half of what I blog comes from stuff you’ve found that I am too emotionally fragile to even go looking for. I pray for you every day and try really hard to keep a steady supply of uplifting materials coming to PoliNation, esp cute pics of the mascots to remind us all who our work is really for. I do this for all our sakes, but most especially for yours.

    • I will carry your words in my heart,Chrissy. The often times I get to doubt myself or just think the whole ordeal isn’t worth the effort,I think of your struggles, the burden you bear having two children so far away from you and facing dangerous times and don’t know if I could manage it.You are so gifted with your hands and your mind you have skills I envy so much.I guess God has a purpose for all of us and it seems we may have found ours.

I am reminded of a story I heard in church once. I don’t know the origin of it but as I recall, someone was whining about the cross God had given him to bear. So God took him to a big collection of crosses and told him he could choose one. The fella looked through them all, kind of like choosing a Christmas tree, I imagined. This was too big, that was too small, this was too rough, that was too smooth. Finally, he found the one that was just right. When he told God which he’d chose, God showed him the name on it. It was his own.

      • Pete, it takes a lot of fortitude to do what you do every day for us. I can only imagine how time-consuming and exhausting it must be. I really do appreciate it, even on those days when time is short and I have to pick and choose which articles to read or videos to watch, and may not have time to leave a comment (or just can’t think of anything intelligent to say). Please remember to take a day or two off when you need to; no one can do this kind of thing day in and day out without a break every now and then.

PP, I am so appreciative of all the hard work that goes into the Daily Grudge. I, like my patriot friends, cannot imagine how time consuming this must be. Additionally, the emotional toll this must take on you must be challenging, to say the least. There are days I actually feel as if I am in mourning. So few people can relate to this feeling, but I take comfort in knowing that because of people such as yourself, and the others that come here, I do not grieve alone. I have actually felt like quitting, hanging up my hat and laying down. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being the arms that have picked me up and propelled me to keep moving, time and time again. The only thing that gives me faith is that I know in my heart there are people out there doing God’s work, my patriot brothers and sisters that I will, most likely, never meet. I don’t know why you have been called for this mission, I just trust that God has a plan, and you are one of his foot soldiers in our fight against evil. God promised us he’d never give his children a greater burden than they could bear.We all question that at times, but I know for sure He is real and He loves all of us and commands us to do the same.Anytime you need comfort or wisdom, there are a lot of people here who will do anything they can to help you. That’s just how we roll.
