I googled “Ambert Alert” and got http://www.amberalert.gov/ which is described as “a site by the Department of Justice that provides information on AMBER alerts, Public Service Announcements, a child safety guide, news, and a tool kit for …” Clicking on it got me:
Clearly, all that “if it saves just one child” was just hot air … and not the kind that comes out of a person’s MOUTH.
I can see not maintaining a nonessential website, but why do they need to shut it down completely? It doesn’t need anybody there to be seen and navigated, does it? I have a website. It’s there all the time, regardless of whether I bother to update it.
How many barricades would the administration have had to not put up in order to afford to keep the Amber Alert Web site operating?

http://www.amberalert.com isn’t down and it doesn’t say it’s not being updated although at the bottom of the main page it states “The AMBER™ Alert Program is coordinated nationally by the U.S. Department of Justice” so I don’t know to what level the .com site will be affected by the .gov site being offline. But taking the .gov Amber Alert site down is a crappy thing to do regardless.

I like it, Red. The new Democrat Party mascot SHOULD be the honey badger. Foaming at the mouth. Consuming everything in sight, especially food others have caught and innocent baby critters still in the nest. Blind with rage, envy and malice. Indiscriminate in all things except one: it prefers destruction over anything else. Too harsh? I don’t think so.
