Funny … but Buraq is a winged horse. The story specifies four hooves. It is also usually shown with a humanoid head. This thing has an eagle’s head.
But acc’ding to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Griffin, the forger didn’t get the griffin part right either.
“The griffin has a body, tail, and back legs of a LION; the head and wings of an eagle; and an eagle’s talons as its FRONT feet.”
Looks to me like the forger got the legs reversed. The art historian guy did say it was a BAD forgery! LOL
