When I read my Gospel passage for today, I was reminded of Candidate Obama at Saddleback Church in the summer of 2008.
And when he entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching, and said, “By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?”
Jesus answered them, “I also will ask you a question; and if you tell me the answer, then I also will tell you by what authority I do these things. The baptism of John, where was it from? From heaven or from men?”
And they argued with one another, “If we say, From heaven,’ he will say to us, Why then did you not believe him?’ But if we say, From men,’ we are afraid of the multitude; for all hold that John was a prophet.”
So they answered Jesus, “We do not know.”
Matthew 21:23-27
At Saddleback Church, Candidate Obama was asked, “At what point does a baby get human rights?”
He had the same problem the Pharisees did. And he responded in the same nonsensical way.
A few weeks later, he compounded his nonsense by saying he thinks the scientific question of the beginning of human life is a theological one that he can’t answer. But he was not asked for either a scientific or a theological answer. He was asked for his OPINION about when human babies should begin to be protected under the law as members of “We the People” human persons.
Of course, the Pharisees had an OPINION about John the Baptist. They had an opinion on every important religious issue of the day. They just didn’t want to come right out and say what it was because they were cowards.
Ditto Obama. And he had expressed his opinion clearly long before 2008. For example, in law school, he wrote a paper defending unlimited abortion; then, in the Illinois Senate, he killed a bill to provide medical and comfort care to live-born survivors of abortion.
Since he’s been in the Oval Office, he has repeatedly used his famous pen to block Pro-Life laws and attack Pro-Life Americans. In particular, he has personally sent federal tax dollars to Planned Parenthood in States that had voted to fund women’s clinics that do NOT do abortions.

Barack Obama Admits "Above My Pay Grade" Abortion Answer Flippant

Matt Walsh makes sense.
“In any particular 24 hour span, you’re more likely to see media reports about tragic canine killings than the tragic homicide of the over 100 thousand babies that were aborted worldwide — that day. … In the last 30 years, well over a billion babies have been slaughtered across the globe. A billion.”
“You cannot be upset about the killing of animals if you are not firmly disgusted by the murder of innocent human life. Well, you can, but not with any sense of reason or coherence. You cannot, as a sane adult, find animal killing to be morally offensive but abortion to be morally neutral.”

I just read an old tweet by Mark Ruffalo in support of Wendy Davis’ filibuster in support of late term abortion.
“What an amazing and satisfying display of humanity in the face of oppression.”
Dismembering pain-capable unborn human beings is “humanity” but trying to stop it is “oppression”?
And they complain when we liken them to Nazis.

Mark Ruffalo has very nearly turned me against the Avengers franchise. I respect the hell out of Rober Downey Jr and Scarlett Johannsen, but if the Hulk doesn’t start shutting his trap, I might have to burn my Captain America Fangirl Card. . . and I really don’t wanna do that. . .
