STUPID VIRTUE SIGNALING: A California coffee shop has announced that “as an act of compassion, justice and (dare we say) feminism, we’re ditching the byproduct of a hens menstruation. … An egg belongs to the hen who made it. She worked really hard to make it. We didn’t.” Have these nitwits noticed that chickens can’t live in the wild and that the males mostly get slaughtered young because they have no purpose other than providing us with meat and, in rare cases, lady chickens with sperm? How is it “feminist” to deprive female chickens of their only means of earning a living? Sheesh.

POLITIFACT SAYS “FAKE BUT TRUE”: On July 23, Kamala Harris said, “In 99% of counties in America, a person working a full-time job at the minimum wage can’t afford a 1-bedroom apartment. This is a crisis and folks deserve solutions.”
She was referring to a recent study by the National Low Income Housing Coalition, which shows that ‘in only 22 counties out of more than 3,000 counties nationwide can a full-time minimum wage worker afford a one-bedroom rental home at fair market rent.’”
But Harris didn’t say a minimum wager worker can’t afford the average-priced, 1-bedroom apartment, she said he can’t afford any 1-bedroom apartment, which is not true.
Politifact declared Harris’s claim to be “a largely accurate characterization of the magnitude of the rent affordability problems that many people face.” IOW, FAKE BUT TRUE.
There are also two little issues neither Harris nor Politifact address. One is that RENT CONTROL LAWS are responsible for unaffordable housing. The other is why should a minimum wage worker be able to afford his or her own place? It’s MINIMUM WAGE, for crying out loud. You want better digs? Get a room mate. Or stay at your job and work your way up the ladder. Or take night classes and learn some skills that are worth more than minimum wage.
