THE BUDGET AND THE BORDER: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) confirmed from the Senate Floor Thursday afternoon that President Trump will be signing the new border deal and will also be issuing a national emergency at the same time.
Republicans are complaining about various “poison pills” Democrats slipped into their allegedly “bipartisan agreement.” The bill limits where the wall funds provided by the bill can be used, reduces the number of detainment beds from 49,060 to 40,520, and a bunch of other stuff. One particularly bad idea is that it will give “deportation immunity to any sponsor—or POTENTIAL sponsor—of an “unaccompanied” alien child.” IOW, it will further incentivize the exploitation of children.
One really stupid thing is that will give small town mayors the power to veto any barrier being built within their own jurisdictions. I’m thinking that any mayor who did this would be personally responsible for making his/her small town into a prime traffic route for drug cartels and human traffickers. I saw people in El Paso saying that before their wall got built, the city was dangerous and now it’s not. How much worse that will be for small towns!
I’ve seen some stuff about how the bill prohibits building barriers on most of the border, but the way I read the language, it actually only limits the use of the specific wall funds authorized in the bill, so big deal. Trump can use that money for the areas allowed, then use the other money he has access to for other places.
He gave Congress loads of leeway to do this thing right. They refused and their stinking media parroted their anti-Trump talking points … but Trump’s approval numbers went up anyway. What I’m most disgusted about is that Democrats had a chance to clear a path to citizenship for Dreamers and, from what I’ve heard, there’s nothing in this deal for them! I hope that comes back to bite them in the ass big time!
CONGRESSMAN MARK GREEN: “H.R. 1 should be renamed the ‘Fill the Swamp Act.’ Congressional Democrats want the federal government to tell Tennessee how to run our elections. How dare they attack the Constitution.” I looked at parts of the bill. He’s absolutely right about it being a federal power grab to deprive states of their right to run elections as they each see fit.
LEPRECON ON BORDER POLICY: Robert Francis O’Rourke says here that he wants to rip down existing walls and fences, because they force illegals to cross at the most dangerous places. [IOW, walls are a deterrent. Oops. Isn’t the official Democrat Talking Point that they don’t work?!] But he also says our existing barriers have made it harder and more dangerous for wannabe immigrants to petition for asylum. No, you dimwit. Petitioning for asylum is done AT LEGAL BORDER CROSSINGS.
Sheesh, he wants to be president, yet doesn’t know this most basic fact about immigration law. And his sympathies are entirely with non-American criminals. As per approved Democrat-speak, he only mentions the “women and children who just want a better life.” God forbid any of them should admit to the convicted criminals, gang members, drug dealers, and human traffickers who swarm across every month.
MEDIA BIAS: Spinning Republican Tax Cuts – Slimey Democrats are pulling their chins and wagging their fingers at Republicans because middle class taxpayers are not getting as much in tax refunds this year. EXCEPT, DUH … tax cuts and tax refunds have nothing to do with each other.
- TAX CUT: A reduction in the total amount you owed to Uncle Sam last year.
- TAX REFUND: What you get back if you paid too much in taxes throughout the year.
A typical family of four got a $2,917 tax CUT this year. It doesn’t matter one iota what their REFUNDS are.
MEDIA BIAS: If it doesn’t serve the Left, then it’s not news – It’s been two days since NBC’s exclusive reporting that the Senate Intelligence Committee has found no material evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, and as of yet none of the three major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) have given it even a single second of coverage in their evening newscasts. Considering these networks have given the Russia probe a massive 2,202 minutes of airtime, their silence on this major development is deafening.
FAKE NEWS: The Left is UP IN ARMS about President Trump’s new golf simulator – Somewhat ignored by the chronically outraged are two true facts.
- Trump personally paid to upgrade the existing White House golf simulator;
- The previous system was installed for former President Barack Obama.
Rolling Stone gnashed its teeth about how conservative news outlets would have gone ballistic if Obama had done put in a golf simulator! Oh wait. Obama did put in a golf simulator. And I’m guessing we paid for it, not him. Too bad we have to elect a Republican president just to find out what’s going on in the White House.

SENATE RULES CHANGE: The Senate Rules Committee voted on party lines for a proposal to reduce the length of debate over most judicial and executive branch nominations. Senate Republicans are now looking to see if several Democrats will help them get to 60 votes to back a compromise proposal to speed up nominations. But if no compromise occurs, Republicans are likely to go “nuclear” and force a rules change with a simple majority vote.
COVINGTON UPDATE: Nick Sandmann’s lawyers says they will be filing the first round of lawsuits “within two weeks.” Native American activist Nathan Phillips is definitely on the list. The FBI and local law enforcement are also investigating threats made against Covington Catholic High School and its students.
I’m glad. We Christians have been turning the other cheek for long enough. That may be the right strategy with some bullies. But with today’s Leftists, it’s obviously done nothing but embolden them to just treat us worse and worse and worse.

Circumstances in this case certainly do point to a proper use of law, not just to bring justice to the whole Covington group, but to send a strong signal that such malignment should have harsh consequences. The Sandmann family is in hiding for good reason! Of course, it’ll take more than just this one suit to turn this long-rising tide of atrocity.
Wisdom lies in knowing when to turn the other cheek as a strategy for demonstrating divine forbearance for someone who might be enlightened by such an act, versus dealing with those not so ready to be enlightened — for whom turning the other cheek would be casting pearls to pigs — time instead to rail about whited sepulchers and upset the moneychangers! 😛
