Mindful Webworker and The People’s Cube gave us a heads-up about this piece of left-wing blasphemy. Talk about inappropriate cultural appropriation! Yowza!

RED CUBE: “It’s unclear what religion these three are the saints of, but their commandments obviously include envy, adultery, theft, covetousness, bearing false witness, idolatry, and killing babies. Although these devotional candles have quickly sold out, the photo of the product has taken a life of its own, posted by devout progs on their pages of worship. Thy progdom come!”
NOT A PHOTOSHOP: I thought at first the image was a right-wing photoshop satire. Nope. These are real candles. The Etsy site that was selling them says they have SOLD OUT.
BLASPHEMY: You can bet these candles didn’t sell to any devout Catholics. The images are based on the the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It honors the interior life of the Blessed Virgin Mary, her joys and sorrows, her virtues and hidden perfections, and, above all, her virginal love for God the Father, her maternal love for her son Jesus, and her compassionate love for all people.
MORE BLASPHEMY: There are dozens of other less-Catholic styles in stock at Etsy featuring images of leftist icons like Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Maxine Waters, and Barack and Michelle Obama with haloes and plain crosses.
BEST THING EVER: At least two leftist Facebook pages posted links to the candles, exclaiming “I want these!” and “This is the best thing we’ve EVER seen.”
One commenter complained: “Such unflattering images of Ruth and Nancy as well as mocking the newest angel – makes me wonder if these were on some right wing satire page.”
I responded: “Not hardly. These are real candles sold at Etsy. There are dozens of others featuring Pelosi, Obama, Biden, and others with crosses and haloes. So very tolerant and coexisty of you. Cuz nothing says “let’s all respect each other” like selling images that mock the religious beliefs and practices of people you disagree with about POLITICS. Sheesh.”

Gotta admit, the Pelosi one with her doing her little aggressive-clapping pose at the President during the SotU is pretty funny.
You read about how they* worship mortal government and you think, well, speaking metaphorically, but not really. Then you catch them in their true devotions…
*”They…”? I try to avoid the “Left-Right” descriptors. Nowadays I more frequently use “Communists” – it’s not just the Democrats alone, and it’s not just politics. Sometimes I just call them the enemy. Lately I’m thinking about taking up the use of “Diabolists” as properly descriptive.
