TODAY IS …

2019_04 02 World Autism Awareness Day

Keep our MASCOTS in your prayers. Buzz and Bunny are both autistic.

APRIL 1: God played a not-so-funny April Fool’s prank on us today. SNOW. ::sigh::

APRIL 2: It’s time to pay my internet service bill … can’t figure out why I have a “do not pay this” credit rather than the usual monthly balance due. “Arrangement with New York State” … huh? Internet search … ah ha!

“Back in July 2018, New York ordered Charter’s Spectrum cable to leave the state after accusing them of not meeting their commitments. At that time Charter, had 60 days to complete services as the state transition to a new provider but Spectrum and New York agreed to delay this deadline so talks could happen. New York is also seeking $3 million dollars in penalties from Charter. Now it looks like Spectrum and New York are coming close to a deal to keep Spectrum in New York.”

Well, okay! It looks like they not only reached a settlement, but rather than suck the fine into New York State’s bottomless coffers, it has come straight off our BILLS! (Has Hell frozen over?!) A month and a half of free internet service for Casa Hyphen! What a lovely spring treat!

2019_04 01 CT woman Biden

CREEPY UNCLE JOE: A Connecticut woman says then-Vice President Joe Biden inappropriately touched her and “rubbed noses with her” at a Greenwich fundraiser in 2009. Now that it’s officially okay to complain about Joe Biden’s offensive intrusions into female personal space, I expect to see more of these.

And thank you, Jeff Sessions, for smacking his hand and hustling your granddaughter out of his reach! Nothing about Creepy Uncle Joe bothers me more than the parents who have allowed him to paw at their daughters. #MeToo

DOJ: Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Attorney General William Barr is “pretty upset” with how the FBI handled the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s unauthorized private email server.

During an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Graham, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said he hopes Barr will appoint a special counsel to look into potential political bias.

They also talk about Obamacare, illegal immigration, trade with China, North Korea, and Democrat vs. Republican platforms.

Re: Chinese cheating – I learned the hard way that I cannot use products manufactured in China. Dearest had a chance to talk with a guy whose job in the federal government is investigating foreign product labeling infractions. He said China and Mexico were the worst offenders.

2019_04 01 Crenshaw Trump Border

BORDER: Illegal alien invasion – On Monday morning, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen ordered CBP Commissioner Kevin McAleenan to implement “emergency surge operations” to reallocate 750 officers to the border.

“The crisis at our border is worsening, and DHS will do everything in its power to end it. We will not stand idly by while Congress fails to act yet again, so all options are on the table. We will immediately redeploy hundreds of CBP personnel to the border to respond to this emergency. We will urgently pursue additional reinforcements from within DHS and the interagency. And we will require those seeking to enter the United States to wait in Mexico until an immigration court has reviewed their claims.”

JUDICIARY: Cry me a river – The Senate is poised this week to consider two more conservative nominees selected by President Trump to sit on the left-leaning 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Sen. Dianne Feinstein is Not Happy, because oh noes, the White House did not seek approval of his choices from her or Sen. Kamala Harris. She complains that this was unprecedented before Trump. But Dianne, so was the way you and yours treated Bret Kavanaugh.

Good leadership

AOC: Throws underling under bus – On MSNBC on Friday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., blamed an unnamed aide for the widely-ridiculed six-page document that was sent out to the media and posted on her congressional website during the disastrous February roll out of her Green New Deal climate plan.

IOW, either she was too lazy to proofread her signature legislation before splashing it all over the internet OR she was too naive to realize how much work it still needed. Either way, she’s the boss, which makes it her responsibility.

2019_04 01 Pence Unplannted

UNPLANNED: First week-end take paid the bills – Unplanned took in $6.1 million at the box office with just 1,059 theaters and that despite getting hit with an undeserved R rating and most major networks refusing to air ads. The audience score is 94%. Even more satisfying is how it looks next to the latest big box office superhero flick:

  1. “Unplanned” = $5,770 average, per screen, first week-end box office/$6 million price tag.
  2. “Captain Marvel” = $650 average per screen, first week-end box office/$150 million price tag.

MARYLAND: Legislation in Maryland, which would have permitted physicians to prescribe a lethal dose of drugs to kill terminally-ill patients, was defeated in the Maryland Senate, in a tied vote that fell one short of the majority needed to pass.

TRUMP FOR LIFE: DHS announed Friday that the pro-life Obria Group will receive three years of Title X family planning funding to expand services to low-income individuals and families in four California counties. That’s $5.1 million grant that Obama would have given to Planned Parenthood. Obria, which operates 21 health clinics and 11 mobile clinics in five states, does not perform abortions.

“Many women want the opportunity to visit a professional, comprehensive health care facility—not an abortion clinic—for their health care needs; today, HHS gave women that choice.” – Kathleen Eaton Bravo, CEO and founder of The Obria Group Inc. and Obria Medical Clinics
