TRUMP ECONOMY: Making America Great For Everybody —
- Last month’s jobs created numbers beat market expectations again with 196,000 new jobs.
- The number of Americans filing applications for new unemployment benefits fell last week to the lowest level in 50 years.
- Unemployment is at 3.8%.
- Wages are rising at near the fastest pace in a decade.
Fifty-two million Americans live in economically distressed communities. Despite the historic streak of job creation and wage growth under President Trump, these areas are often plagued by high poverty levels, failing schools, and a scarcity of jobs.
To reverse their fortunes, the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act created massive incentives for investment in these places, creating jobs and opportunities where they are needed the most.
The early returns are incredible in these “Opportunity Zones,” which cover 8,700 communities across all 50 states. Property sale prices have soared more than 20 percent annually in these zones, building wealth for the people who live there and encouraging more economic activity in the process.
On April 4, President Trump kicked off the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council, which will work to build on this success and lift up every forgotten community.

SMOLLETT: He’s not getting away scot-free – Mayor Rahm Emanuel had Chicago’s Law Department send Jussie Smollett a letter demanding “immediate payment of the $130,106.15 expended on overtime hours.”
If he fails to cough up the cash before the deadline, the city could prosecute him for making a false statement, and take him to civil court to seek up to three times that amount as damages, plus court costs and attorney’s fees. With a civil case, the standards for proving he staged the January attack would be lower than in criminal court.

Politico is providing cover for Democrats desperately trying to avoid a vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which Republicans are trying to bring to a floor vote via a discharge petition.
Melanie Zanona writes, “House Republicans on Tuesday launched a long-shot bid to force a vote on anti-abortion legislation — an issue they plan to hammer vulnerable Democrats on even if they can’t secure action on the floor.”
She reports a statement from Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) regarding the discharge petition: “Oh, my g-d. They just will not quit. . . I think politically, it’s a really bad move for them, and substantively, it’s a disaster.”
The desperation of this statement is almost palpable. Pushing the issue is anything but a bad move for Republicans.

Students calling themselves “Mason for Survivors” is circulating a petition calling on George Mason University to cancel their decision to have Justice Brett Kavanaugh teach a summer elective course for the university’s law school. The class he is set to teach is already overbooked with students who want to take the course. Call me crazy, but can’t they just NOT take his course? Ditto the places where left-wing fascists have gotten Chick-Fil-A stores banned. Sheesh. I’m reminded of the pro-abortion sign, “If you don’t believe in abortion, don’t have one.”

MIGRATION AND CHURCH TEACHING: Pope Francis recently condemned border walls, because they block migration – But the head of his liturgy office disagrees. Cardinal Sarah says that mass migration is “a new form of slavery” and that “it is a false exegesis to use the Word of God to promote migration. … My country (Guinea) is predominantly Muslim. I think I know what reality I’m talking about.”
He also blasted priests and bishops who “say fuzzy things, vague, imprecise, to escape criticism, and they marry the stupid evolution of the world.” Traditionalists are hoping he may one day succeed the current pontiff.
