SYRIAN CONVERTS: According to Reuters, the number of Muslim converts to Christianity is rising in the Middle East. The brutalities of Muslim extremists is one factor.
H.R. 5: “The Equality Act” – If passed into law, it would prohibit “discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity” and includes “sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity among the prohibited categories of discrimination or segregation.“
Dr. Michelle Cretella, a pediatrician and executive director of the American College of Pediatricians, warns that, despite its name, the so-called Equality Act would unfairly strip parents and moral conscientious health care employers of their freedoms, as well as cause more harm than good to patients and children.
“In New Jersey, one Catholic hospital has been sued by a woman claiming to be a man. She sued the Catholic hospital because the hospital refused to perform a hysterectomy,” Cretella says.
But, given the availability of other hospitals willing to perform these sorts of surgeries, Dr. Cetrella argues that, “it’s not a question of availability, which is why if H.R. 5 passes and becomes the law of the land, you are essentially putting Catholic health care out of business. You’re literally driving them out of business.”
PRICE FIXING: Attorneys general from more than 40 states have filed in federal court alleging that 20 of the nation’s largest generic drug manufacturers have conspired to artificially inflate and manipulate prices for more than 100 different generic drugs. The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Connecticut on Friday, also names 15 individual senior executives responsible for sales, marketing and pricing. They say they have hard evidence, including emails, text messages, telephone records and former company insiders. Go get ’em, guys! Taking advantage of sick people is … well, SICK.
