CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: The Steve Hilton video “The Kings and Queens of Catastrophe” is on target about the media, but out of date (March 2) on the figures. It’s worth watching. [7:56] – The latest figures I saw were from this Trump tweet, “So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!”

In China, the number of new cases is way down. We can expect the rise, peak, and fall pattern to happen world-wide. We also have weather going for us. Respiratory viruses generally die out with warm, moist weather, which means April or May depending on where you live in the continental U.S.
Keep in mind also that the death rate for COVID-19 is about 1% and is almost entirely among the elderly and those with existing conditions, such as heart disease. Ditto the season’s generic flu. The main difference is that we don’t, yet, have a COVID-19 vaccine.

EUTHANASIA: Belgium has some of the world’s most lax euthanasia laws. Since the practice was instituted in 2002, the numbers of deaths per year has risen every year.
In 2019, 2,655 Belgians were killed by euthanasia, including one child. Belgium is now looking to expand past allowing children and people with psychiatric conditions to be put down to allow euthanasia based on feeling one has a “completed life.”
