Tonight, Jupiter and Saturn will come within 0.1 degrees of each other. That’s just 1/5 of a full moon diameter. They’ll appear to be one giant star that some are calling a Christmas Star.
It’s not. For one thing, the conjunction will be gone from the night sky before Christmas. And for another, the symbolism is all wrong.
What the Magi saw was a conjunction of the planet Venus (Virgin, Mother) with the planet Jupiter (King, Father) in connection with the constellation Leo (Lion) whose brightest star is Regulus (Little King).
In tonight’s sky, the planet Jupiter (King, Father) will align with the planet Saturn (War, Time, Harvest, the god who dethroned his father) in connection with the constellations Capricorn (Horned Goat, Devil), Sagittarius (Archer, First Horseman of the Apocalypse), and Scorpius (Scorpion, Demon Abaddon).
Obviously, it is forbidden for Christians to look to the stars and astrology to make life decisions. We’re supposed to pray and trust in the Lord with our lives.
But the Bible says, “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork” (Ps. 19:1). It is clear that God proclaimed the birth of His only Son in the skies. Perhaps tonight, he is sending us a sign that the final battle is near.
