DRAINING THE SWAMP: As I reported a couple of weeks ago, the recent Supreme Court decision in Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo struck down a 40-year-old precedent known as the “Chevron deference.”
For the past four decades, legislators have been free to write sloppy, ambiguous laws that federal agencies were then free to interpret however they chose. This one thing has gone a long way toward empowering the unelected bureaucrats in D.C. who are collectively known as The Swamp.
Members of Congress are complaining that Loper Bright will now force them to work harder both to draft laws in unambiguous language and to garner enough aye votes to get them enacted.
To this I say, “Cry me a river.” Maybe the influx of liberal tears will help wash away the stink.
GOLD STAR FAMILIES: [13:09] – Tears flowed at the Republican National Convention as families of the 13 military members who were killed during Biden’s chaotic retreat from Afghanistan spoke of their loss, of the lack of recognition they received from Joe Biden, and of the extraordinary tenderness with which Donald Trump shared their grief. The deceased were:
- USMC Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichardo (25) of Lawrence, Massachusetts;
- USMC Sgt. Nicole L. Gee (23) of Sacramento, California;
- USMC Staff Sgt. Darin T. Hoover (31) of Salt Lake City, Utah;
- USMC Cpl. Hunter Lopez (22) of Indio, California;
- USMC Cpl. Daegan W. Page (23) of Omaha, Nebraska;
- USMC Cpl. Humberto A. Sanchez (22) of Logansport, Indiana;
- USMC Lance Cpl. David L. Espinoza (20) of Rio Bravo, Texas;
- USMC Lance Cpl. Jared M. Schmitz (20) of St. Charles, Missouri;
- USMC Lance Cpl. Rylee J. McCollum (20) of Jackson, Wyoming;
- USMC Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola (20) of Rancho Cucamonga;
- USMC Lance Cpl. Kareem M. Nikoui (20) of Norco, California;
- Navy Corpsman Maxton W. Soviak (22) of Berlin Heights, Ohio; and,
- Army Staff Sgt. Ryan C. Knauss (23) of Corryton, Tennessee.
I was tearing up as I listened, but when the crowd began naming the deceased, I lost it. Any one of those kids could’ve been one of mine. I still have two in uniform. They deserve a Commander in Chief they can respect, a leader who will not send them on stupid, politically-motivated missions, and who will grieve when and if they are injured or, God forbid, killed.

JD VANCE: CLICK https://www.facebook.com/reel/1009425996973633 to hear Tucker Carlson give Trump’s VP pick a ringing endorsement.
Marc Clauson, professor of history and law at Ohio’s Cedarville University, notes that Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), checks a diversity box that most people overlook “… socioeconomic diversity.” He grew up poor in the Rust Belt, then graduated from Yale Law and became a venture capitalist.
He also served in the United States Marine Corps, which certainly appeals to this military mom. Go, Green!

TONING DOWN THE RHETORIC: CLICK https://x.com/newsbusters/status/1812890503504896106 [1:46] to see a montage of the hateful rhetoric that leading lefties have been spewing for years now. Trump is an “existential threat to democracy”, “literally Hitler” and if you don’t believe that, then “you’re stupid or you’re one of them.”

GRAMMY NOTES: I just ordered Vance’s book, Hillbilly Elegy, and after reading the excerpt posted @ https://www.military.com/undertheradar/2016/09/j-d-vance-learned-marine-corps, I can’t wait to read it. I also need a tissue. What a thrill to learn that his MOS was in public affairs … just like our jar-head daughter who also served in Iraq! 🙂 ❤

I loved “Hillbilly Elegy.” I read it back when it first came out, and reread it recently (before JD was chosen to be Trump’s VP). I suspect sales of the book are about to spike.

The one I bought was on sale. It was a nice touch … to be treated instead of gouged. 🙂

I seem to recall one of the women Marines was pregnant, but a quick search of articles about them made no mention of that.
The families’ time at the RNC was incredibly powerful.
