We sat in those pull out bleachers that every high school seems to have and the circus acts came out one at a time to perform on the gym floor. I was looking forward to seeing the horses, which included a young Lipizzaner stallion in training. Between one heartbeat and the rapidly increasing next, I abandoned my kids to plow through the stands, doing a kind of over and under at the railing on the side of the bleacher, dropped down to the gym floor and bolted out the emergency exit. Honestly, I’m dizzy thinking about this again.
Point being: THIS is what a true phobia is like. Thinking people with gender dysphoria have a mental disorder is not a phobia. It’s just an opinion.

Ha! I got one of those drive-by baptisms once. I had gotten all dressed up to go to my friend’s organ recital at the college chapel, which was a short walk from my house. It had rained heavily earlier in the day, but had diminished to a drizzle, so I thought I could walk a few blocks without getting soaked. I almost made it, too… until a car came tearing down the street toward me and plowed right through an enormous puddle, creating a tidal wave that drenched me to the skin. I did not enjoy the recital very much.
