HEALTH: The FDA has approved a new genomic test that has an 86% success rate in diagnosing neurological infections, such as meningitis and encephalitis. Most other tests can only detect one or a few pathogens at a time; this new one can detect all pathogens present by analyzing the genetic material in a patient sample. It also analyzes the quantity, and therefore severity, of any infections.

PLANET FITNESS: Derek Sink (39) checked into one of the gym’s locations in Indianapolis on Friday. Nobody noticed he had not checked out when the gym closed at 9 pm. The facility was open both Saturday and Sunday from 7 am to 7 pm, then opened again on Monday at 5 am. His family reported him missing on Sunday, but I guess nobody knew he might have gone to the gym, because his decomposing body was not found inside a tanning bed until shortly before 9 am after a patron complained of a foul odor.
