JUDICIARY: On July 20, U.S. District Judge Henry Wingate issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) barring the Mississippi state government from enacting several provisions in a bill aimed at eradicating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs.
The order listed eleven imaginary plaintiffs and two imaginary defendants, cited allegations that were not made by the plaintiffs, quoted phrases from the DEI law that were not in the law, and attributed declarations in the complaint to the wrong people.
One critic of the sloppy TRO said, “I feel like I’m Alice in Wonderland.”
