AMERICAN HISTORY: On February 5, 1953, Bishop Fulton Sheen won an Emmy Award for Most Outstanding Television Personality. Upon accepting the award, he said, “I wish to thank my four writers, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.”
For 20 years as “Father Sheen”, later monsignor, he hosted the night-time radio program The Catholic Hour on NBC (1930–1950) before he moved to television and presented Life Is Worth Living (1952–1957). Sheen’s final presenting role was on the syndicated The Fulton Sheen Program (1961–1968) with a format that was very similar to that of the earlier Life Is Worth Living show.

All these nurses advocating for the maiming and murdering of anyone whose politics they dislike is very scary. Because I and several people close to me have been the victims of mean and/or incompetent doctors and nurses, I have a reflexively low opinion of people in the medical profession generally and avoid them whenever possible. But sometimes you don’t have any choice. I had to go to urgent care of couple of weeks ago because I fell and split open my forehead, and I needed stitches. Urgent care is especially scary because you don’t get any choice about who treats you — you’re stuck with whoever happens to be on duty at the moment — and you might get someone who is incompetent or just plain nasty. (I’ve had plenty of experience with both kinds.) Thank God, both the doctor and the nurse who took care of me were great.
