AMERICAN HISTORY: On Sept. 23, 1779, John Paul Jones led the American ship Bonhomme Richard to victory against the British warship HMS Serapis in the Battle of Flamborough Head off the Yorkshire coast of England. Despite severe damage to his own vessel, Jones famously declared, “I have not yet begun to fight!” and ultimately forced the British to surrender.

MEDIA: On Sept. 21, CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox News announced they will not cover events designated as pool coverage of the President until Trump restores CNN to pool status. Trump responded on Truth Social: “The White House is not instituting an assault on the Free Press, something which I cherish. It is instituting an assault on the FAKE NEWS, something that has grown like Cancer in our beloved United States of America. It is corrupt, purposeful, pervasive, fully coordinated, and totally out of control. It is a threat to our National Security, and must be stopped, NOW!”

MISSOURI: On Monday, the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Missouri must use the new district map in November. The old map gave Republicans a 6-2 advantage, while the new one goes 7-1. The problem is that they used the new one for the primaries, so the court says that switching back to the old map for November would give some voters more say than others in who represents them in Congress.
OH CANADA: In 2024, more people died from assisted suicide in Canada (16,499) than died due to firearm homicides in the US (15,364). America has about eight times the population of Canada, which means the per capita breakdown in this comparison looks even worse for Canada.
