The grass only LOOKS greener

2015_05 Turtle on road by Heather

Meditation by Jonathan Cahn:

God gave Adam and Eve every tree to eat from; only one did He forbid. Eve focused on that one outside of God’s will and ate from it. Similarly, David had everything, but He focused on that one outside God’s will — Bathsheba.

Human nature has always been seeking life outside of God. We do it too. We tell ourselves that it is of God. Maybe it’s just a little outside His will, but we still want to indulge in it.

The truth is, there is nothing outside of Him. It’s all in Him — every revelation, mystery, fullness of deity, true joy that lasts. Everything is in Him.

Whatever you thought you wanted that was outside of God’s will is not good. The only good is inside Him. So stop focusing on what you don’t have. Rejoice in your blessings and live!

A neat manual of discipleship

Revelation - John sees Heaven

The following is by Peter J. Leithart:

Four times in Revelation, John is directly told not to do something.

When he falls at the feet of Jesus, Jesus touches him with his right hand and says, “Do not fear” (1:17; Gr. me phobou).

When no one in heaven, earth, or under earth can be found to open the book, John begins to lament. One of the elders tells him, “Do not weep” (5:5; Gr. me klaie).

When he sees the harlot riding on a beast, he marvels. His guiding angel wonders at his wonder: “Why marvel?” (17:7; Gr. dia ti ethaumasas), he asks, with more than a hint of rebuke (cf. 13:3).

Twice at the end of the book, he falls at the feet of an angel and is told not to worship (19:10; Gr. ora me).

It’s a neat manual of discipleship: Do not fear. Do not lament. Do not marvel at the whore. Do not worship angels, but God.

And it’s a neat little summary of what is missing in the new Jerusalem, in the city where God dispels all fears, wipes all tears, where He alone is the Marvel who is worshiped.

History vs. Eternity

Forgive and religion

“Some will suggest that a Christian sexual ethic puts the churches on the ‘wrong side of history.’ Well, we’ve been on the wrong side of history since a.d. 33. The ‘right side of history’ was the Eternal City of Rome. And then the right side of history was the French Revolution. And then the right side of history was scientific naturalism and state socialism. And yet, there stands Jesus still, on the wrong side of history but at the right hand of the Father.” –Russell D. Moore

Sara Winter apologizes

Ultra-feminist and founder of Femen Brazil, Sara Winter was one of the principal symbols of the anti-Christian, left-wing movement.

She is particularly famous for engaging in a bare-breasted, same-sex kiss in front of the Church of Our Lady of Candelária in Rio de Janeiro. The photo of the two, with a cross in the background, became iconic in Brazil of homosexual contempt for Christianity.

Today, Sara Giromin (her real name) is pro-life and has formally apologized to Christians for her blasphemous actions.

Giromin thought feminism was about helping women, but learned the hard way that it is primarily about promoting cultural Marxism and inflaming hatred for human beings, families, and Christianity.

Vadia nao cover

In her new book “Bitch, no! Seven times I was betrayed by Feminism” (Vadia não! Sete vezes que fui traída pelo feminismo), Giromin writes that she was repeatedly pushed to do drugs, to engage in sex with strangers, and was even molested by a lesbian, all at the hands of feminists who claimed to be fighting for women’s equality.

“I saw the feminist movement cover up for PEDOPHILES,” she writes. “I saw the feminist movement PERSECUTE WOMEN … I am a witness to the fact that today in the feminist movement women are not of any importance but serve as fuel for the fires of hatred that the feminist sect cannot allow to die.”

Giromin is donating a percentage of her book earnings to pro-life causes, and is now beginning to give talks against feminism, gender ideology and cultural Marxism, teaming up with Christian psychologist Marisa Lobo.

The dark side of Islam

Excerpts from Brother Rachid’s video linked below:

“I was raised to hate Christians and Jews because of the Quran and Hadiths.”

Quran 5-51 Do not take J and C for friends

“A true Muslim should pray for the destruction of Jews and Christians.”

Hadith 25-5389 Do not greet J and C

“Jews are despised and hated according to the Quran. Allah turned them to apes and pigs.”

Works of Mercy for me too?

The other day, I was praying and God put it in my mind that He loves me and He wants me to perform Works of Mercy not just for others, but for myself also. He specifically pointed out “Forgive offenses willingly.” Uhhhhhhhhhhhh … yeah.

Why is it so much easier to forgive those who have hurt me than it is for me to forgive myself for just about anything short of perfection? Like, for example, doing something that seemed like a good idea at the time, but really wasn’t?

DOG stuck in cat tree

Last night, I was watching an episode of Numb3rs where Don and Charlie are at a counseling session together, talking about the day Charlie went missing. Don is still beating himself up, because their dad had put Charlie into his care. Charlie says, “Don. You were 13 years old! Get over yourself.”

Yeah.

PRAYCOTT!

“Don’t get mad. Get even.”

It’s not what Jesus taught. His version would be, “Don’t get mad. Get praying.”

What he actually said was “pray for those who persecute you” (Matt 5:44), but close enough, right?

So I had this thought … you’ve heard of boycotts, where people refuse to shop somewhere, and buycotts, where people go out of their way to shop somewhere, right?

How about if we declare a Christian praycott?

When we are attacked, we will refuse to nurture anger or pursue revenge. Instead, we will go out of our way to pray that God will shine His light of Truth on the sins of our enemies and that He will call them to repentance and conversion before it’s too late.

We cannot earn our salvation.

But neither are we saved by faith alone.

Once upon a time, I gave my life to Jesus and He gave me a beautiful, red tricycle named Faith. I love to ride Faith and ring her shiny bell. I’d pedal up and down the sidewalk and tell everyone who passed about the wonderful gift my Lord and Savior had bestowed upon me.

TRICYCLE small red

Many years later, I died and my guardian angel said that, before he could present me at the Pearly Gate, I would have to rescue Faith from my much-neglected, spiritual garden.  When I saw all the thorns that had grown up around Jesus’ free gift, I asked my angel for pruning shears and a pair of sturdy gloves.  He shook his head and reminded me that, when Jesus was scourged and crowned with thorns, He had had no protection for his skin.

THORNS

Ashamed of having forgotten the cost of my salvation, I gritted my teeth and set to work. Each bloody wound a thorn inflicted brought forth a memory of a sin I had committed or of a good deed I had neglected. By the time I finally found what was left of my once shiny Faith, I was broken in spirit. Weeping with remorse for my prideful and selfish life, I asked my angel, “Will Jesus still forgive me?!” He told me to pick up the rusty, twisted remains of my once shiny Faith and then he carried us through a bright tunnel of light.

TRICYCLE rusty

At the end of the light, we joined a long queue of souls. I recognized one fellow who was dragging a broken pedicab and asked my guardian angel, “Isn’t that my old pastor?”

“Yes,” he replied. “He was given a pedicab when he accepted his vocation to help souls come to Jesus. But he was a lazy man, so he never read or preached from any parts of Scripture that said Christians must practice Works of Mercy. He is the one who assured you again and again that you were saved by faith alone and that Jesus’ blood would cover all your sins.”

PEDICAB broken

“But didn’t St. Paul teach that none will be justified by works?” I asked.

“Yes, he did say that. But you need to read the whole of Romans chapter 3, not just verse 28. The ‘works’ he was referring to were the Old Covenant sacrifices and rituals, like circumcising all males, obeying the Jewish dietary laws, and keeping the Sabbath rest. He was not talking about performing Works of Mercy, by which Jesus clearly taught you will be judged.”

Works of Mercy

Just then a newcomer and his angel got into the line behind us.  He was pushing a gleaming, well-oiled, mountain bike that was loaded down with bulging packs. I asked my angel why he had been given a mountain bike. My angel said, “He started out with a tricycle too. But as his works multiplied, so did his need for bigger and better bicycles that could hold all his heavenly treasure.”

MOUNTAIN BIKE w packs

I fell to my knees and began to weep with great wrenching sobs. “Have I lost my salvation?!”

My angel said he did not know. “It is true that you were not watchful; but it is also true that you never denied Our Lord. I suggest you spend your time here in line praying for forgiveness.  Once we get to the front, we will learn if your name is still in the Book of Life.”

As for me and my house

An Italian television program “L’aria che tira” (“What’s Trending”) asked refugees what they thought about the Paris massacres.

  • One Christian migrant from Africa said: “I am sorry, sorry for Paris. We are Christians. We don’t kill.”
  • Multiple Muslim migrants seeking asylum in Italy said it is “good” to kill French people and warned of a looming December 8 Islamist attack on Rome.

December 8 is the Catholic Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Tomorrow, Pope Francis will be opening the Jubilee Year of Mercy during which Catholics will be encouraged to make a special effort to pray for, meditate about, and act on the fourteen Works of Mercy.

The Seven Corporal Works of Mercy: Feed the hungry; Give drink to the thirsty; Clothe the naked; Shelter the homeless; Visit the sick; Visit the imprisoned; Bury the dead.

The Seven Spiritual Works of Mercy: Admonish the sinner; Instruct the ignorant; Counsel the doubtful; Comfort the sorrowful; Bear wrongs patiently; Forgive all injuries; Pray for the living and the dead.
