While criminal culpability rests with the shooter, there also is no doubt that we are experiencing an unprecedented derangement from establishment Democrats, pro-Democrat media (which is almost all of the mainstream media), the entertainment industry and on campuses.
We have been documenting the often violent opposition to Trump for over a year, but particularly since the election. The entire concept of “The Resistance” invokes violence, a deliberate allusion to the resistance movements in World War II Europe.

The difference between humans and wild animals is the capacity for reasoned thought. Apparently the left has largely lost that ability. The dichotomy between political parties today could not be more stark. I work with a piece of human sludge, a high school dropout. The lawmaker, Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-New York, received an email with the subject line: “One down, 216 to go…,” according to a screenshot of the email provided by Tenney’s office.
The body of the email read: “Do you NOT expect this? When you take away ordinary peoples very lives in order to pay off the wealthiest among us, your own lives are forfeit. Certainly, your souls and morality were lost long before. Good riddance.” A threat was sent to Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-New York on June 14, 2017 after the shooting in Alexandria.
On Tenney’s official Facebook page, someone recently also posted a threatening comment aimed at her son, an active duty U.S. Marine currently deployed to the Middle East. The Memorial Day post said, “Waiting on your son to come back bagged,” according to a screenshot provided by Tenney’s office.
So Much for Civility: Matthews Smears Trump and ‘Weaselly’ Cabinet After Shooting
“Good evening. I’m Chris Matthews in Washington. Donald Trump and his ties with Moscow remain the big story here even on a day struck by violence,” he announced as he started his show.
Matthews was quite giddy as he read from a Washington Post article that claimed an anonymous source told them that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was now investigating Trump for obstruction of Justice. He then demonstrated how amazingly tone deaf he was by callously declaring that Mueller had Trump “in the crosshairs.”
A few minutes later, Mathews went on a diatribe about how much the President was used to controlling everything in his life, including poking at Trump’s marriage:

Early this morning, James T. Hodgkinson askedRep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., if the guys practicing for the annual Congressional Baseball Game were Republicans or Democrats. DeSantis said they wereRepublicans.
About 3 minutes later, at around 7:15 a.m.,Hodgkinson opened fire on the ball players, injuring five before House Majority Whip Steve Scalise’s security detail took him out.
Scalise is reported to be out of surgery and in stable condition.I haven’t heard about the others. But Hodgkinson, 66, has died from the ventilating the armed guards gave him.
Hodgkinson’s social mediaaccounts show him to have been an enthusiastic fan of Bernie Sanders’ campaign and a vitriolic hater of Donald Trump.
I’m not going to hold my breath waiting on any Democrats or their Left Stream Media apologists to ponder how much their non-stop hatred of Republicans in general and Donald Trump in particular contributed to this man’s decision to fire on unarmed ball players.
I do, however, want to point out that just this past week-end, a theater group in NYC put on a production of Julius Caesar in which Caesar, who is assassinated, is depicted as being President Trump. And some years ago, some Leftist jerks made a movie in which George W. Bush was assassinated.
They call that crap “art.” But back when Barack Obama was in office, a rodeo clown was berated nationally and lost his job for making FUN of the thin-skinned Democratic president.
All y’all probably remember after the Gifford shooting when the Left was all over Sarah Palin for “inciting violence” because she had opposed Gifford’s re-election.
THAT got a lot of media coverage, as did the usual, endless stream of demands for more gun control laws.
What you may not remember from all the media outcry is that Gabby Gifford was an enthusiastic gun owner whose shooter turned out to have been a Left-winger who had volunteered on her campaign.
Another thing you probably never heard about is that, a few months ago in my home town, a Leftist shot and killed a UPS driver who he said he thought was Donald Trump. Can you imagine the national coverage if he had shot a woman and said it was because he thought she was Hillary Clinton.
But Trump? Meh. ::mediacrickets::
I think there are two not-very-original lessons we can take away from this:
One, the Left never learns anythingfrom their numerous failed attempts to blame Right-wingers for political violence.
Two, the Left never EVER takes responsibilityfor the injuries and death that result from their own hate-filled calls to violence.
The Indiana Voter Registration Project, its manager, and 11 workers face felony charges for submitting voter registrations for people who didn’t exist, people who didn’t fill out the forms, a felon, a non-U.S. citizen, a minor, a woman who lived in Florida, and three dead people.
Supervisors were paid $50 to $75 a day to meet their quotas “by any means necessary” and canvassers were pressured to collect 10 applications per shift or risk losing their jobs.
One canvasser told police she and a fellow employee would pay homeless people with cigarettes if they would fill out voter registration forms during their shifts.
Another canvasser admitted he went to the public library and looked up information in a phone book to complete his forms.
The group’s activities caused problems for some voters whose information was used without their permission. One man told detectives he experienced trouble voting because his name was listed four times in the county’s voter rolls.
It is not clear who established or funded the Indiana Voter Registration Project. However, the group’s spokeswoman was a strategist for the presidential campaigns of Al Gore, Howard Dean, and Chris Dodd, and its payroll information traces to a company that has done voter turnout work for labor unions and Democrat campaign committees.
Less than a day after the Comey hearing proved to be a big disappointment to Trump Hating Democrats, their fearless and often delusional Minority Leader, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), held a press conference on Capitol Hill demanding to know, “Where are the jobs? The election was about jobs. Jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs. He promised jobs. What has he done?”
Ms. Pelosi, I had that same question throughout President Obama’s alleged “economic recovery.” According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the last time the percentage of Americans with jobs was above 60% was in January and February of 2009, during Obama’s first six weeks in office.
This metric hit 60% again in February 2017, during Trump’s first six weeks in office.
The lie we were told as kids was this: The end of American liberty would come at the hands of the political right.
Conservatives would take away our right to speak our minds, and use the power of government to silence dissent. The right would intimidate our teachers and professors, and coerce the young.
And then, with the universities in thrall, with control of the apparatus of the state (and the education bureaucracy), the right would have dominion over a once-free people.
Some of us were taught this in school. Others, who couldn’t be bothered to read books, were fed a cartoon version of the diabolical conservative in endless movies and TV shows. The most entertaining of these were science fiction, sometimes with vague references to men in brown shirts and black boots goose-stepping in some future time.
Women would become handmaids, subjugated and turned into breeders. And men would be broken as well. The more lurid fantasies offered armies of Luddites in hooded robes, hunting down subversives for the greater good.
But the lie is obvious now, isn’t it?
Because it is not conservatives who coerced today’s young people or made them afraid of ideas that challenge them.Conservatives did not shame people into silence, or send thugs out on college campuses to beat down those who wanted to speak.
The left did all that.
It’s there in front of you, the thuggish mobs of the left killing free speech at American universities. The thugs call themselves antifas, for anti-fascists.
They beat people up and break things and set fires and intimidate. These are not anti-fascists. These are fascists. This is what fascists do.
Some wear masks to cover their faces, or hide bike locks in scarves and swing them at the heads of any who disagree. They’re all about intimidation. And intimidation on a national scale, so angry and violent, is a fascist thing of the left.
Many liberals — journalists, senators, television comedians and others — are properly appalled at what their political children, born of the hard left, have done. Many liberals have warned about this, and so many must wince as the fruits of their labor turn bitter in their mouths.
But they are also complicit, because they’ve taken advantage of the anger and energy of this hard left fascism to leverage their own politics. And Democratic operatives still hope to use this emotional frenzy and muscle for political gain in the next elections.
What is the cost for all this?
Free speech, without which there is no republic.
American universities were once thought to be the last great refuge of ideas, where ideas could flourish and be challenged and debated. But today, the university is the place where liberty and ideas go to die.
The American university is where intellectuals with dissenting views are silenced — even physically assaulted — by mobs. And administrators sit by and watch, afraid to anger those mobs.
What has been the general liberal response to Americans who insist on speaking after being threatened?
Annoyance. The response sounds like this: Hush. Go away. Come back later when it’s quiet. Why cause trouble? Shhh.
Right-wing provocateur Ann Coulter has been silenced at Berkeley, where the free speech movement was born. And other intellectuals, including Charles Murray and Heather Mac Donald, have been silenced at other colleges, attacked by mobs.
If the left agrees with your views, you may speak. If the left doesn’t agree, they will shut you down. This is America now.
Some liberals also have seen their careers ruined by mob rule. Those two professors at Yale, a husband and wife, come to mind. She told Yale students not to worry if some other student wore a sombrero as a Halloween costume, that there were more important things to worry about than political correctness and a student wearing a sombrero.
But a Yale student, a woman, a minority, screamed in response, weeping in hideous self-indulgent theatrics captured on video. And all of this caught fire on the internet and sparked the virtual mob on social media. The professors, the husband and wife, with decent records and obvious care for the intellectual development of their students, were shamed out of Yale.
And all educators across the country took note.
University administrators have made a show of wringing their hands. But they’re hypocrites. They’re part of this. They are of the same cloth. They allowed this seed to bloom. They watered it, by giving in to the young who demanded a safe space from intellectual challenge.
Safe spaces are not about learning or critical thinking. Safe spaces belong to education camps, where future bureaucrats are trained in the Orwellian shaping of language and the culling of threatening ideas.
The universities molded the federal education bureaucracy, which turned out teachers that shaped the minds of American children. And some of those children are in college now.
Surveys suggest that many young Americans think the First Amendment should be amended so as to not allow offensive speech. So the students have learned their lessons well.
All speech challenging the status quo is offensive — to the establishment. And free speech is what American liberty is about.
Unless, of course, you’re of the hard left, and can hunt free speech at American universities and crush it.
That’s not fiction. That’s not fantasy. And it is not a lie. It’s happening now, in the United States.
