A prayer for undecorating
This is such a lovely idea! Undecorating has always been a chore I dreaded so much that some years (when no one was coming), I refused to decorate at all. But this … this makes it seem like a holy task.
Lord Jesus, today we will put all of our Christmas decorations away. Our house will look ordinary again, but the blessings of Christmas are always with us, kept in the deep, quiet places of the house, just the way our decorations are. Help our souls be a place where Jesus always dwells and our home be a place where Christmas is alive every day of the year.
Not that undecorating will happen any time soon at Casa Hyphen. The Marines wore themselves out with finals (Brag: Warrior Princess got a 4.0!) and Christmassing with his clan. They’re down with a bug, so Dewey is guarding the presies until they feel up to braving the snowy roads. It can be very ugly driving between their place and ours in the winter.

Hope everybody had a wonderful and blessed Christmas. Ours was excellent, though I must confess I’m glad its over for another year. As usual,DW put on an awesome meal and the little ones had fun sledding on the big hill behind our house. I watched them through the sliders and tried to remember when I had that much energy.
Just had to post a few things to keep in shape.
This is our oldest granddaughter,Jessica. She’s 18 and turned into quite a lady. Whenever the family gets together Miss Olivia attatches herself to Jess like a lamprey eel on a shark. Olivia is a bigger ham than the one we enjoyed for dinner.
This is DW with the electric scent machine she got.
My favorite gift…a cup with a picture of my little ones that says:love you papa. I’ll treasure this long after they’ve grown up.

Another ghost of Christmas past
If you’re as old as I am, you’re old enough to remember when America had a president who loved God and his country and wasn’t shy about saying so. Was it really only thirty years ago?

A record number of surgical abortion clinics — 87 — closed in 2013. The total number of surgical abortion clinics left in the U.S. is now 582. This represents an impressive 12% net decrease in surgical abortion clinics in 2013 alone, and a 73% drop from a high in 1991 of 2,176.

I caught a few snippets of the pathetic press conference Barky had on Friday. He was so anxious to get out of there he should have worn a lei around his neck. Admitted last year was rough, bragged a million people have signed up for Deathcare, proud of the few who can now get insurance, ignoring the millions who have lost theirs for no other reason than because he wanted them to lose it. Claimed to have cut the deficit he ‘inherited’ in half, focus like a laser on jobs next year. Greta said it was so depressing it made you want to slit your wrists.
Took in a B-ball game with the Oregon State team coached by his BIL and played his first round of golf with Robert Titcomb, who was once arrested for soliciting prostitutes. Commented he hoped he wouldn’t be disturbed during his 17 day vacation. Yeah, being president wreaks havoc on your social life, doesn’t it? I am now formally declaring this an Obama-free zone until after Christmas.
I have no idea what I’m doing, but that never stopped me before.
