Catholic Vote had this to say about the Leftist uproar over Indiana’s religious freedom law:

“What irks LGBT activists so much about this new Indiana law is that it strips them of the right to impose their agenda on religious individuals.”

IMHO, the activist gay Left is playing right into Anti-Christ’s hands attacking our freedom of religion. It will just make it that much easier for the Muslim Mahdi to force Islam on everyone … and you know what that will mean for the LGBTs!

THE RFRA… JUST MY OPINION

When Gov. Pence signed Indiana’s Religious Freedom Recovery Act it was stunning how rapidly the leftists and their pack of media hounds sprang to the attack. What was all the fuss, since there is a federal law, signed by the Bent Penis himself, and more than 20 states who already have similar laws.

I have two thoughts. One, the ‘hands up, don’t shoot’ lie was at last shown to be complete and utter bullshit, so they needed another lie to take the focus off Obama handing a terrorist nation a nuclear device and the future president blatantly flaunting her criminal acts in view of the world, daring anybody to stop her.

The other reason, I think, is that none of the other states has what may be a potential presidential candidate in 2016 and this is their way to bloody him preemptively. They’ve been trying with Scott Walker but haven’t had much luck. I have been whining as long as I’ve been here about our side playing by the rules while the other side lies ,cheats, stops at nothing to win. Apparently the Blitz worked, since Pence said they’ll rewrite the law so as not to offend the gay mafia. Pity. Wish he’d have stuck to his principles.

Pence Buckles Under Powerful Gay/Media Blitzkrieg

Governor Mike Pence of Indiana seems to have caved into enormous pressure and will ask the state legislature for new legislation to make it clear that Christian florists and bakers could be forced to participate in weddings that violate their religious beliefs.

Last week, Indiana joined 19 other states and the federal government by enacting a law to protect religious believers from governmental encroachment on religious freedom. Such legislation was cited in the recent Supreme Court Hobby Lobby decision that determined religious employers could not be forced to supply abortion drugs to employees under ObamaCare.

Mike Pence: ‘Was I expecting this kind of backlash? Heavens no.’
Then you haven’t been paying attention.
He’d waffled in recent days over whether or not he would support a legislative fix to the law before finally announcing that he wanted one — but he didn’t say what that fix would be.

Potentially complicating his effort to quell the criticism, Pence said he opposes adding sexual orientation to the list of Indiana’s protected categories under state anti-discrimination law.

Democrats who’d seen their proposals to do just that rejected by the legislature in recent months said only a solution along those lines would suffice.

Pence: Bill Clinton, Obama Also Supported Religious Freedom Bills
Too bad the rules don’t apply to them.

Ironically, Hillary Clinton and President Obama’s aides to President Obama are also standing in line to slam Pence and Indiana; Hillary Clinton tweeted, “Sad this new Indiana law can happen in America today. We shouldn’t discriminate against ppl bc of who they love.”

Yet the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), passed in 1993, was brought by Representative Chuck Schumer, now a New York senator; Bill Clinton signed it into law. In 1998, Obama voted aye on a law similar to Indiana’s.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest said on ABC’s This Week. “Look, if you have to go back two decades to try to justify something you are doing today, it may raise some questions about the wisdom of what you’re doing,” Obama has had no comment.

Mayor Of Seattle Prohibits City Employees From Traveling To Indiana Over Religious Rights Law

The mayor of Seattle today prohibited municipal employees from traveling to Indiana on city funds, as the backlash spread against the state’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray’s decision comes in response to the law signed Thursday by Indiana Gov. Mike Pence that allows businesses to refuse service to gays and lesbians for religious reasons.

Conn Dem Gov. Dan Malloy Attacks Mike Pence: “When You See A Bigot, You Have To Call Him On It”…

Governor Malloy just called himself a “bigot” as well since Connecticut also has a religious freedom law on its books.

HEY!KICK THOSE CHRISTIANS AGAIN!

The reason these critics crawl with ease through legislators’ thought processes is easy enough. In recent months, same-sex couples intending marriage have sued florists and bakers who declined their business on grounds that Christian teaching has historically held male-female marriage to be the estate congruent with God’s will.

These set-tos, and others doubtless to come, are one predictable consequence of the spreading conviction that same-sex marriage is about to triumph legally — hence holdouts against it must be Bad People deserving of restraint, punishment or both.

Progs losing their tiny little uneducated minds over nothing

Cornell University has yet another reason to blush with shame.  Among the know-nothings railing over Indiana’s RFRA is alumnus Keith Olbermann who called it “legally codified hatred and stupidity.”

Uh, no.  It is merely the 20th state version of a long-standing federal statute.

FEDERAL RFRA
INDIANA RFRA

The free exercise of religion has been called the first freedom, that which originally sparked the development of the full range of the Bill of Rights. Our Founders cared a lot about religion. And one of the reasons they worked so hard to get the first amendment into the Bill of Rights at the head of the class is that they well understood what could happen to this country, how both religion and Government could be perverted if there were not some space created and some protection provided. They knew that religion helps to give our people the character without which a democracy cannot survive. They knew that there needed to be a space of freedom between Government and people of faith that otherwise Government might usurp.”

– President Bill Clinton, 1993

Are you following the attack on religious freedom in Houston?

2014_09 29 Houston mayor assaulting religious freedom

UPDATE: The fight is not over. The petty dictator squatting in the Houston mayor’s office told a group of clergy that she STILL has no intention of allowing the citizens of Houston to vote on the bathroom bill.

Background: Houston’s first openly lesbian mayor Annise Parker is a big fan of what she calls “Equal Rights” legislation and the rest of us call “the bathroom bill”, because it would allow individuals to use whatever bathrooms they decide match their “gender self-identity” rather than than their biological gender.

More than 50,000 supporters signed a petition demanding the whole city be permitted to vote on it. The city attorney threw them away, alleging there were not enough legitimate signatures.

A lawsuit ensued, giving the city attorney an excuse to issue subpoenas demanding the five Houston pastors who delivered the petitions turn over all sermons, speeches and correspondence dealing with homosexuality, gender identity and the city’s Equal Rights ordinance. Since the pastors were not party to the lawsuit, this amounted to a straight up case of political bullying and violation of First Amendment rights.

The story went public and Houston City Hall was deluged with telephone calls, letters, emails. Hundreds of Bibles and sermons were shipped to the mayor and attorney, resulting in the mayor issuing the following statement: “After much contemplation and discussion, I am directing the city legal department to withdraw the subpoenas issued to the five Houston pastors who delivered the petitions.”

Don’t Mess with Texas Pulpits! – UPDATE!

2014_10 Houston's Bathroom Bill

Houston passed a law known as “The Bathroom Bill” which would allow men who identify as women to use the restrooms of their choice – and vice versa.

Opponents launched a petition drive to put the issue on the ballot.

The city threw out the petitions claiming there were not enough legitimate signatures.

Opponents then filed a lawsuit.

The city to issued the subpoenas to five pastors, none of them plaintiffs in the lawsuit, demanding they turn over sermon notes and communications with church members.

The Houston Demonazis wish to ascertain which pastors have (or haven’t) “opposed or criticized the city.”

One of the five ministers who received a subpoena is Dave Welch, the executive director of the Texas Pastor Council.

He said he will not be intimidated by Annise Parker, who is the city’s first openly lesbian mayor, nor will he comply with the city’s demands. Instead, pastors across the Lone Star State are mobilizing.

“We are dealing with bullies used to getting away with abuse of power,” Welch said. “We called their bluff on this.”

UPDATE:

AUSTIN — Attorney General Abbott today asked that the Houston City Attorney to immediately withdraw the subpoenas sent last month to several Houston-area pastors seeking sermons, notes and other information.

In his letter to the city attorney, Attorney General Abbott said, “Whether you intend it to be so or not, your action is a direct assault on the religious liberty guaranteed by the First Amendment. The people of Houston and their religious leaders must be absolutely secure in the knowledge that their religious affairs are beyond the reach of the government.”

Houston’s mayor is playing the “Republicans are mean and stupid” victim card.

Lefties are not the only ones with lawyers

William F Buckley - Liberal opinions

When two high schoolers tried to provide a safe space for Christian teenagers to meet together and plan community service projects, the high school administration told them no.  But public schools are not allowed to discriminate against religious clubs.

So Liberty Institute, a law firm that specializes in religious liberty cases, stepped in and threatened the district with a federal discrimination lawsuit … just like they did LAST YEAR when the same school pulled the same stunt with the same outcome!

The Three Village Central School District announced it has (again) reversed its decision to ban Christian students from forming a club.  Students United In Faith is officially recognized for the 2014-15 school year.

A representative of Liberty Institute said, “John Raney and Jeremy Johnson may just be high school students, but they did more for liberty than all of Washington, D.C.”

Obama doubles down on religious discrimination

2014_08 22 Obama ups fines on HHS mandate

August 22, 2014: The Obama administration issued a revised version of the HHS mandate. Under the guise of “filling out forms”, the new rules require people of faith to violate their religious beliefs or face fines of as much as $36,500 per year, per employee.

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, explained the new rules like this:

“Let’s use a simple example. The government comes up with a plan to arbitrarily imprison children between 2 and 4 years old, and imposes on businesses the obligation to inform them of such children among the families of their employees.

“Any employer with a conscience is going to say, ‘I want nothing to do with this. If you’re going to imprison these children, you’re going to have to find them yourself. I won’t be sending you any information.’

“We want a full exemption from this mandate, so that we have nothing to do with this scheme. … Our religion requires no less.”

Just a thought from CtH …

Yesterday, one of my Facebook friends reported hearing a young man say there’s no reason to give a crap if a cop gets shot. “That’s what they signed up for.”  I’m guessing he votes Democrat, so it just crossed my mind today that the same could be said of women who accept jobs with Christian non-profits and family-owned companies.  There’s no reason to give a crap if they have to pay for their immoral practices out of their own pockets.  “That’s what they signed up for.”

Left vs Right in Simple Terms

Last month at the left-wingnuts’ Netroots conference, Sen. Elizabeth “Fauxcahontas” Warren (D-MA) issued Eleven Progressive Commandments.

This week, former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) issued the Conservative Response.

2014_08 Warren v Palin commandments

1. Elizabeth Warren: “We believe that Wall Street needs stronger rules and tougher enforcement, and we’re willing to fight for it.”

Sarah Palin’s response: “We believe that Washington, D.C. needs to take less of our money. It needs more scrutiny, fewer bureaucrats, and it needs a reminder of the principles laid down in the Constitution that our leaders swear to defend. Furthermore, we believe crony capitalism is infecting both sides of the aisle in D.C. We’re working really hard to root it out of our party. Senator Warren, what are you doing to root it out of yours?”

2. Warren: “We believe in science, and that means that we have a responsibility to protect this Earth.”

Palin’s response: “We believe in science and God’s magnificent creation overflowing with natural resources. That means we have a responsibility to honor Him by protecting the earth as we develop our resources in an environmentally sound way for mankind’s use.”

3. Warren: “We believe that the Internet shouldn’t be rigged to benefit big corporations, and that means real net neutrality.”

Palin’s response: “We believe the Internet shouldn’t be censored by the world’s tyrants. That means President Obama should reverse his disastrous decision to hand over control of Internet domain names to the U.N., where it will come under the thumb of authoritarian regimes like Russia and China.”

4. Warren: “We believe that no one should work full-time and still live in poverty, and that means raising the minimum wage.”

Palin’s response: “We believe in lifting Americans out of poverty and into sustainable jobs. That means government needs to butt out of employer-employee pay issues. And quit over-regulating business and increasing taxes. It drives up operating costs — that’s what affects wages.”

5. Warren: “We believe that fast-food workers deserve a livable wage, and that means that when they take to the picket line, we are proud to fight alongside them.”

Palin’s response: “We believe … wait, I thought fast food joints … don’t you guys think that they are of the devil or something?  Liberals, I thought you wanted to send those evil employees who would dare work at a fast food joint to purgatory or something until they all go vegan?! Wages and picket lines, I dunno, they’re not often discussed in purgatory, are they?

“We believe in America where minimum-wage jobs are not lifetime gigs. They are stepping stones to a good job with sustainable wages. It teaches work ethic. We believe in helping Americans climb the economic ladder, not get stuck on the first rung. A strong economy with good-paying jobs comes from free enterprise, not from a top-down, bloated, big-government, command-and-control economy.”

6. Warren: “We believe that students are entitled to get an education without being crushed by debt.”

Palin’s response: “We believe that students learn to not make decisions that result in a lot of debt. And we believe that schools need to be more accountable for the insane increase in tuition.  …  It’s no accident, Elizabeth, that the rise in tuition corresponds with the rise in government intervention. More government isn’t the answer.”

7. Warren: “We believe that after a lifetime of work, people are entitled to retire with dignity, and that means protecting Social Security, Medicare, and pensions.”

Palin’s response: “We believe a pension is a promise. It must be honored. We do that by using common sense and prioritizing budgets that once and for all will end waste and fraud and the crony capitalism and the stupid political decisions that are bankrupting our nation. We believe that in order to keep faith with future generations and fulfill our current commitments to our seniors, we must enact sensible entitlement reform.”

8. Warren: “We believe — I can’t believe I have to say this in 2014 — we believe in equal pay for equal work.”

Palin’s response: “We believe — I can’t believe I have to say this in 2014 — we believe in equal pay for equal work. And President Barack Obama should abandon his hypocritical practice of paying women less than men in his campaigns, in his administration, and in the White House.”

9. Warren: “We believe that equal means equal, and that’s true in marriage, it’s true in the workplace, it’s true in all of America.”

Palin’s response: “We believe that all men and women are created equal. They claim that we are not tolerant? Well, we believe that tolerance goes both ways. That means respecting people’s right to disagree with you, instead of trying to intimidate or silence us. We believe the answer to free speech that you find offensive is more free speech, not less.”

10. Warren: “We believe that immigration has made this country strong and vibrant, and that means reform.”

Palin’s response: “We believe that legal immigration helped make this country strong and vibrant. And that means welcoming law-abiding, hard-working immigrants who wish to come here legally and pledge their allegiance to the United States of America. Furthermore, we believe, as none other than Cesar Chavez believed, that illegal immigration hurts the country. It unfairly hurts working-class Americans of all races, all backgrounds who are seeking good-paying jobs, security for their families.”

11. Warren: “And we believe that corporations are not people, that women have a right to their bodies. We will overturn Hobby Lobby and we will fight for it. We will fight for it!”

Palin’s response: “We believe women have a right to their bodies, just as babies have a right to their living, breathing bodies nestled in a mother’s womb. And anyone who wants contraception, more power to you. Continue to freely buy any kind you want, no one is stopping you. We’ll fight for the right of private businesses, including Hobby Lobby, to work with you to figure out health-care coverage themselves in any way the owners of these businesses (that they built themselves) want to, knowing that government intervention just always screws everything up.

“Furthermore, we believe that religious liberty is enshrined in our Constitution, remember?  The government has no right to coerce people to violate their religious beliefs. And if they try to take any of our Constitutional rights away, we will fight for them.”

Palin had “one final thought for Sen. Warren and her would-be progressive populists.”

“We conservatives believe, as Ronald Reagan said, that you can’t be for big taxes, big government, big bureaucracy and still be for the little guy. We stand with the little guy, who is being bullied and beaten down by the progressive left’s failed policies of yours, Elizabeth Warren.  We stand for free men and free markets — the twin ideals that made this nation strong, peaceful, and prosperous. We say, God Bless America. We hope you say the same, Senator Warren.”
