Hurricane Helene Story

From Heather Golden, Black Mountain, NC, via Facebook: Yesterday. Chrissy and I located a young girl with a 6 DAY OLD BABY in Lake Lure.

She had JUST given birth.

During the storm.

Alone.

(Via seeing an old man who waved at us with his dog who also needed dog food, which I happened to have…)

We were her first contact.

Before I left for our run (my car was water and med kits) I saw there was extra room. I could have loaded anything but for some reason I chose to load it down with baby supplies. Diapers, wipes, formula, bottles etc.

I had no idea I was going to actually need that stuff in real time. I just felt like I needed to load it in there. So I did. And we found the ONE person who needed it… urgently. Because she had 1 pre-made bottle left from her shower.

That….I can’t begin to describe what that was like.

I knew I was the only one that knew exactly where she was or how to get to her…so…

Today my mission was to take more supplies to her, but in reality, to convince her come with me. It took some time. She was scared. The water/mud was knee or waist deep, around her house.

I told her that yes, it was deep, but we would make it and to just trust me. Just give me the baby. So, I held Baby E and strapped my backpack tight (pulled straps tight so momma could hold onto me) to my back and told momma to hold on to me and just keep going. If we got stuck we could get out.

We did.

As we speak, “N.H. & Baby E.” have been extracted. I took them to a church, relatively close to her, to receive medical care and be reuinited with her loved ones.

I am still trying to process it.

Her boyfriend is still missing.

It’s gonna take me a minute.

Like, I’m okay…I’m safe…but I’m definitely traumatized.

But they’re okay. They’re alive. They’re safe. And that’s all that matters.

Good luck you two. I’ll always remember you.

(I had to do this today… We are having to do ALL of this by ourselves as a community…because we have no one else. It’s just us. And hey. Maybe it’s for the best. We’re actually getting pretty good at this.)

I messed up my radiator trying to get to her. But used some water to keep filling and cooling it down; as soon as I got back, some awesome guys started working on it and got it fixed up enough for me to get back to my husband! (Just glad I made it back!)

P.S. Please know, I didn’t write this for any kind of praise or glory or anything. I honestly figured it would get hidden like the rest till just now. I just know that this community is hurting deeply. And we need to see ANY kind of positivity amongst the despair right now.

So, It’s not about me. It’s about how WE…this community, has risen to the occasion to take care of our own. And it’s been a beautiful sight to behold.

HOME SCHOOLING: The latest report shows more parents are opting out of the public and private school systems.

LIFE: Two former abortionists and two abortion survivors talk about their experiences. This is not an easy video, but well worth the time. [25:13] – I sensitized to Rh during my first pregnancy; that baby (Mama Buzz) was not affected. The second child (Army Princess) was okay until near the end, then my titer jumped and they induced. She had jaundice and spent 5 days under bili lights. With our 3rd, planned (and final) baby (Marine Princess), my Rh titer was high right from the start, so I was transferred to a perinatologist. He began doing amnios at about 20 weeks. Each time, he decided we could go a little longer; by the time she was born, I had had seven amnios. With each subsequent procedure, I noticed my baby would become agitated earlier and earlier until, with the last one, she was actively expressing her displeasure shortly after I walked into the office. There is no question that she hated that needle and was able to learn how to tell when it was going to come into her safe space. During the last two amnios, she was wiggling and kicking so much, the doctor had a tough time safely getting enough fluid out to check on her health. Thankfully, he was very skilled, used an ultrasound to guide him, and had a nurse pushing on my feisty little one to keep her away from his entry point.

Hurricane Helene

The state National Guard has been deployed, as is appropriate, but FEMA is there for when disasters are too big for the state(s) affected. The victims of Helene are out of luck on this one. FEMA spent all its money providing free food, housing, medical care, and transportation to the millions of illegals the Biden-Harris administration invited in.

Saw these on FB: (1) The mule team had a successful day. They were able to bring mule loads of food and supplies to many residents in Black Mountain. All went smoothly, and the mules and packers are resting for the night! Their plan for tomorrow, is to bring supplies, food, and check on residents’ needs in an area towards Swannanoa, where it is believed 30% of the town’s residents are trapped and can’t get out. This will be a busy day for the team, and we pray for their safety and stamina!

(2) These mountain people are some of the kindest and toughest people. They will survive. I have been packing supplies in on horseback and I had the opportunity to visit an elderly lady. She didn’t have a road out, no electricity and no running water. She was very quick to inform me that she had a spring in the woods. She refused to take any items I had in pack saddles telling me to give it to someone worse off. Then she looked at me and said “young man I have dinner about ready, would you like something to eat.” Even when she had lost a lot she still wanted to share what she had. Makes me proud to be one of these “hillbillies.”

FEMA says it has “enough funds to deal with the immediate response to Hurricane Helene”, but wants Congress to cough up more money, because hurricane season won’t be over until Nov. 30. What they mean by “immediate” is a week late and what they mean by “response” is signing victims up to get $750 checks after their identities and losses have been verified. ::smh::

Meanwhile, FEMA has been busy, busy, busy “debunking internet rumors” about its budget shortfalls and lame response to Helene. Maybe they could spend their time listening to these people for clues about how they could do better.

Literally, all they’re doing is registering people who have no water or power or food to get a pittance in weeks or months or maybe never. One of the FEMA people who gets paid to go to disaster sites got defensive about Beck’s questions and said, “I’m not even from near here.” Yeah, neither are a lot of the people who have donated and/or showed up with their equipment. Do you think anyone is paying them for their gas? Or the income they’re losing?

HEARTWARMER: Hurricane-damaged roads and washed out bridges prevented David Jones from making the two-hour drive to his daughter’s wedding. He got part way, then decided to walk the remaining 27 miles through storm debris and mud, using only his phone flashlight for light and carrying a red reflector that he found on the side of the road.

A state trooper told him he couldn’t do that. He replied, “Sir, you don’t understand. My daughter is getting married at 11 o’clock, and I want be there to walk her down the aisle.” Eventually another state trooper spotted him, rolled his window down, and he said, “Are you the one that’s trying to get to your daughter’s wedding?” Jones replied, “Yes, sir, how did you know?'” The trooper told him, “We’re all talking about you.” He gave Jones ride to the next town, then had to leave him to continue walking.

HURRICANE HELENE: The death toll is nearing 200 with hundreds still missing in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina.

The Trump campaign launched a GoFundMe page for victims of the hurricane and raised more than $1 million dollars on Monday.

SECOND “GENTLEMAN”: Calling Kamala’s husband, Doug Emhoff, a “gentleman” is like calling California a “great state.” – Emhoff was married to Kerstin Mackin from 1992 to 2008. Their two children are the step-kids the otherwise childless Kamala parades around. But after he fathered another child with their nanny, Kerstin kicked him to the curb. CNN reported that the nanny “did not keep the child”, but whether that means abortion or adoption isn’t stated.

Then, in 2012, Emhoff reportedly smacked his then-girlfriend on the face so hard that she spun around. She said it came out of the blue, that they had been having a really nice time on their date. She told three friends about the incident shortly after it happened. They report that she tried to leave alone, but Emhoff actually forced his way into the cab with her. When she demanded to know why he had hit her, he said he thought she was flirting with the valet. She broke up with him that night.

Kamala married him in 2014 when Doug’s kids, Ella and Cole Emhoff, were 15 and 20 years old. Kamala brags about having “co-parented” them and that they call her “Momala.” At that point, Cole was already an adult. So really, she was a part-time working “mother” (and Attorney General of California) to Ella from 2014 to 2017. In 2017, Kamala became a U.S. Senator and moved to D.C. Ella finished high school (class of 2017), then left for college in Manhattan.

I barely saw my kids during those years and I was their one-and-only, full-time, stay-at-home mother. So, I’m thinking the time that Kamala put into actually parenting anyone can be counted in minutes. And you might not need all your fingers and toes to do it.

Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) told Dems to get up in the faces of Trump supporters in public spaces and tell them, “You’re not wanted here.”

Trump advisor and now Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders was tossed out of a Red Hen restaurant by the owner. So yeah … denying someone service for being Black is illegal; denying service for being Republican … no problem!

EDUCATION: [2:42] – What possible reason could there be for any English class to include Sexually Explicit Material (SEM)? I am familiar with the Texas state curriculum standards website, because a professional art teacher suggested I use it to guide lesson planning for the art classes I am teaching my home schooled Texas grandkids. So I checked the high school Language Arts section. It talks about developing students’ abilities in both “oral and written comprehension and expression” and mentions “multiple genres” but nowhere is any mention of SEM. If, and I stress IF, a teacher wants to do a lesson or unit on SEM as a genre, the parents should certainly be notified about it, offered a chance to review the materials, assignments, and curriculum goals, and provided with an opt in or opt out permission form.

GEORGIA: Prayers for the residents and especially first responders of Conyers, Georgia, where a massive fire at a biochemical lab put who knows what into the air. Conyers is about 20 miles east of Atlanta.
