APPLES: The apple became associated with the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge in the story of Adam and Eve primarily because the Latin Vulgate Bible uses the word “malum” for “evil.” Since the word for apple is spelled the same way (though pronounced differently), in the Middle Ages depicted the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge as an apple. The Bible itself does not specify any particular fruit.

GOOD RIDDANCE: The Global Engagement Center (GEC) was founded in 2016 as a result of an Obama executive order aimed at controlling terrorism.
