I just heard Mitch Daniels is NOT running for Pres. citing family concerns. Seems he and the Mrs. had some problems (she left him for another man for 5 years then came back !?) He didn’t want that to drag through the liberal mud. I don’t blame him.

Amen to that. If Republicans tried to exploit the near-fatal shooting of member of Congress like that, they’d be excoriated for it, and rightly so.

I surfed the area on Google Earth and IMHO, it’s both ideal and … if she’s going to run … necessary!
A campaign home in the lower 48, with a shorter commute and far from their home in Alaska, would be far better for her and her family … not to mention all the good folks of Wasilla who methinks are fed to the teeth with the Left Stream Media.
The house is big and spacious, really LOVELY inside and out, lots of beautiful spaces for entertaining, gorgeous views, pool with fountains and lots of patio. She made a bundle on her books (same as Obama did!) so God bless her, they can afford it.
It’s near Phoenix, where the international airport hosts 17 airlines, two of which use it as their hub.
It’s in a private compound, completely walled, and has virtually NO neighbors. Given what that family has gone through and, if she runs, will have even more of, I’d count that as a very big Must Have for them.
And hey … if she wins (Yes! Please!), this place would be a lot easier for them to use for vacations than their home in Wasilla.
Plus, with so few neighbors and being so close to a major city, I’m thinking presidential visits would be a lot less disruptive to the locals than they would be in Wasilla.
I’ve heard stories of past presidents and how the neighbors did not like it when the “circus” came to town. I think it was Nixon’s neighbors who said that, what with Secret Service crawling all over and roads being closed etc., they always saw a drop in income when he was at home.
Anyway, I scoped out the three nearest properties. They are all big, sprawling places that, from the aerial imagery at Google Earth, appear to keep horses. I saw at least one jump ring, a riding ring, automatic cool-out circles, and structures that could easily be horse barns. Maybe the girls want to learn to ride? And I’ve heard riding is fantastic for Down’s kids.
Just spinning my wheels here. No idea if they bought the place or not. But if they did, God bless them. It is BEAUTIFUL. And PRIVATE. And WARM. They deserve all and more.
