   Okay – here is a little personal info on the anniversary of D-Day. My mother is from Bedford County, VA. She is the 4th of 6 children and at the time of D-Day she was 16 years old and both of her older brothers were in the war, one in Europe, flying bombing missions, and another (who was technically not qualified to be in the Army because of poor eyesight and being a slight, sickly type of book worm) was in India and several other places working on army intelligence. My mother and her older sister knitted socks for the soldiers for the Red Cross. There was some kind of National Guard unit from Bedford, composed of most of the young men from the county who were not as fortunate as to go to college like my uncles did. There were a lot of farmers in that unit, and most were friends in that small community. This National Guard unit was the first to hit the beach on D-Day, just “cannon fodder” is the way my mother has always described it, and Bedford had the largest per capita loss of young men of any other community in the country. The day that the telegrams announcing the deaths started arriving my mother was in town with a bunch of other teenage girls, probably knitting for the Red Cross. The brother of one of the girls there with her that day was killed, and she said it was just awful. That poor Western Union delivery boy kept coming and coming, and the whole town was in a huge state of shock and grief. Today there is a memorial to D-Day in the town that is quite moving, and there has been a book called “The Boys of Bedford.” I say a prayer for them all every June 6.

   Michele Bachman is accusing Planned Parenthood of corruption?? Next thing you know she’ll be accusing Barack Obama of being black, or Barney Frank of being gay, or Donald Trump of being wealthy. You just never know what ol’ Michele will come up with next, do you? A real loose cannon, that chick from Minnesota.

     I am less and less impressed with MB every day. I really do think that she seems to be an easily manipulated woman.
