Wow…I’m just appalled by his writing skills. (Frankly, did you read that!?!??) Is that something he actually proofread before sending? If there’s one thing I learned in college, it’s to PROOFREAD!

I agree; it was atrocious. In college I was copy editor for the yearbook and proofreader for the school newspaper, and I also worked part time as an English professor’s assistant, where one of my fun jobs was to go through his students’ essay exams and correct their spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. I burned through a LOT of red pens, because many of the students’ language and spelling skills were at about a fourth or fifth grade level — which is where Barack Obama’s seem to be. Affirmative action obviously got him the gig as president of the Harvard Law Review, since any white person with his qualifications would never have been considered for the position — just as any white person with Obama’s qualifications to be president of the U.S. would have been weeded out very early in the primary season.

I’m going to have fun with this! I work in the same office as the editor and proofreaders for the Montana Administrative Rules. Our boss is an English major, so quite frequently the four of us get into discussions about grammatical issues etc. I’m going to copy this letter and have them proof it – without telling them where it came from. Should be really interesting – boss is life-long Dem. wonderful person and I love him to death, but just has a political blind spot. I’ll keep you posted on the feedback. Fun, fun. fun…

Hurricane recovery continues on here. I have a houseful of family and neighbors who are still without power, and a fellow setting up his office here for the rest of the week, probably. He is an independent stock broker and without power and internet service, so needs a place to work until his house is back on the grid. I think it will be a good while before all my power orphans are independent again. It is good to be able to help. We are so lucky.
