Wow … the skeletal remains of a WW2 carrier pigeon was discovered in the chimney of a house in southern England carried a coded message, almost certainly sent from Nazi-occupied France during the June 1944 D-Day invasion! Historians are trying to figure out what it says.

This Bud’s for Sandy victims. As per usual, it’s people who help people. This beer plant is bottling water instead of beer.

  4. That’s weird, Bob. Blogspot has let you post on her other blogs. Maybe they were having a glitch. She does love when people comment, so blogspot had better not keep “cheating” her out of her fun! Or else. Or something…

  6. If this election dragged on another month, I would have to KILL some people! Such colossal idiocy is regularly on display, and it’s triple-X, full-frontal idiocy, too. I. CAN’T. TAKE. IT. ANY. MORE!!!!!!!!!!

I got a glimmer of hope yesterday when a facebook friend I thought was a liberal Democrat Catholic posted a thumb’s up on my latest, “We have to elect Romney” thing.

::snort:: I think I have a glimmer of how you feel.

One of mine gave me mega crap about forcing her to make a single garment back during Sewing Summer. I bought a new machine and lessons for all four of us, fabric and patterns of their choice.

Told them, I don’t CARE if you never sew again. At least you’ll understand how garments are constructed, which will help you shop more intelligently for clothing and even if you refuse to do your own mending, you’ll know what to look for when hiring someone.

Two of the girls were okay, or at least not loudly defiant. One was just a grouchy grump the whole way through. I had to watch her just to make sure she wasn’t abusing the new machine I hadn’t paid for yet! She even managed to wine a bobbin backwards on a nearly idiot proof machine.

Years pass and the Sewing Grump goes off to college where she majors in theater. Costume class is required. She comes home, bragging how she is SO much better than all those other kids whose moms never taught THEM to sew. (smirking mom)

Many years later, she’s married and her hubby contacts me secretly for advice on the best sewing machine for her Christmas present, because that is what she’s asked for. HA!!!

      • Oooh, a new sewing machine — how exciting! If Romney wins and the economy improves, I’m actually going to think about replacing my cranky old sewing machine. It would be such fun to have one that actually works the way it’s supposed to and that I don’t have to be always fighting with.

Well, 17 years ago LOL. It’s mostly still a wonderful machine, but has developed some quirks, like the needle won’t catch the bobbin any more in the left-most position. But that’s minor.

Another piece of uplifting news to keep your spirits up … Dearest did errands this week and reported on the Lawn Sign Situation in Deep Blue Socialist Republic of Ithaca.

Almost zero Obama signs. Some Democrat signs, but only for local races.

The place was awash in Obama in 2008. Lots on our little street too, where there are NO Democrat signs this year AT ALL.

    HA!

    • I’m in a very blue town in a blue state as well, but Romney/Ryan signs are outnumbering Obama/Biden ones in every neighborhood I drive through. The local Republican party headquarters actually ran out of R/R signs.

WOOHOO!!! Ours too. Dearest brought home the last couple of local ones for our yard. We live on a short, dead end street, so he avoided taking any before yesterday.
