The red is when we had Republicans controlling 2 or 3 of the three budget and policy-making bodies (Senate, House, White House). Blue is when we had Democrats controlling 2 or 3 of these three.

It’s easy to make that slip. I realize that you know that the three branches are Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. I’m leaving the Judicial branch out of this and looking at the two Houses of Congress and the Presidency. Both parts of the Legislative branch, and the Executive branch (unless 2/3 marjorities of both Houses of Congress override a Presidential veto), are required to pass any law, and at any point in time one party is going to control a majority (2 or 3) of those 3 entities.
From January 3, 1995 to January 2, 2007, Republicans controlled a majority of the House, Senate, and Presidency.
From January 3, 2007 to present, Democrats have controlled a majority of the House, Senate, and Presidency.
It is quite eye-opening to look at average employment during the 12 continuous years of Republican majority control (average employment 63.3%, and ending slightly above average at 63.4% in December 2006) and compare that to the average employment during the the last 6.25 continuous years of Democrat majority control (average employment 59.9%) and the Obama pResidency (average employment 58.7%, and we haven’t had a month above that average since August 2009).
The worst month under Bush was better than the best month under Obama.

Thanks for clarifying. It felt wrong when I wrote “branches” because I did stay awake in American History long enough to learn what the three BRANCHES are, but I couldn’t think how else to say it. 🙂

Yep. I seem to recall having the same problem then too. Must’ve had more energy, cuz I finagled the grammar to avoid calling the “bodies” anything at all. It’s been a rough Lent. LOTS of spiritual progress. VERY little energy left over for anything else … like thinking.

Despite its $36 million budget, PETA employees make little effort to find homes for the thousands of animals they kill every year. PETA’s president admitted they could afford to seek homes for these pets, but it would mean diverting time and money away from press stunts and celebrity photo shoots, which they think are more important.
