Here I am catching up AGAIN after being sick AGAIN. I tell ya … I take a few days off to be sick and my kitchen and my email both get totally out of control! Okay, so it was more like a week. But still.

Democrats, women candidates score big in Texas primaries
The AP touted gains made by women and minorities, but a closer look at results wasn’t all that impressive. The Democrats didn’t get the numbers they wanted.
AUSTIN, Texas — Women running for Congress surged to big wins and Democrats smashed recent turnout levels in Texas’ first-in-the-nation 2018 primary elections, giving Republicans a potential glimpse of what’s ahead in the first midterms under President Donald Trump.
Energized and angry Democrats in Texas, where the GOP has dominated for decades, came out in force to surpass 1 million voters Tuesday — the first time the party has eclipsed that benchmark in a midterm primary since 2002, just months after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Here is the Politico results from each primary contest
2018 Texas Election Results

Soros Chalks Up Another DA Win After Dropping Nearly $1 Million In Texas Race
George Soros has effectively purchased another district attorney’s seat.
The left-wing billionaire pumped almost $1 million into a Texas district attorney’s race against a Democratic DA who opposes sanctuary cities, according to campaign filings reviewed by The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Soros’s preferred candidate, Joe Gonzales, upset incumbent Bexar County DA Nico LaHood in the Democratic primary Tuesday. LaHood conceded after Gonzales jumped up to a sizable lead as votes were counted.

Ted Cruz worries: Texas could turn blue this year
This is mostly hype, a case of Cruz trying to steer the absurd Democratic expectations about Texas to his own ends by scaring donors into kicking in, but he’s not talking complete nonsense. And since Texas holds its primaries today, it’s worth paying some attention to it.

Parkland Shooting Survivor to Sue Broward School District After Deputy Accused of Failing to Act
Parkland student Anthony Borges, who was shot five times during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre, plans to sue the Broward County school system “to cover the cost of his recovery.”
‘The failure of Broward County Public Schools, and of the principal and school resource officer to adequately protect students, and in particular our client, from life-threatening harm were unreasonable, callous and negligent,’ attorney Alex Arreaza wrote in the lawsuit notice on Monday. ‘Such action or inaction led to the personal injuries sustained by my client.’
The lawsuit is likely to be the first of many filed by survivors and victims’ families.C

New Jersey Schools Are Pushing 9-Year-Old Kids to Join in March 14th Anti-Gun Walkout Protests
They’re not your kids. They belong to the state now.

Dear Jim – Got this from a friend of mine with two children in a ******, NJ school district… They are planning for a walkout on March 14th. His children are 9 years old.
Nothing like the Hitlerian way the left uses children as tools.
Thought you might like to highlight something like this on your site.

CNN Travels To Thailand To Speak With Prostitute Who Claims To Have Dirt On Trump
CNN is dispatching reporters around the world to help dig up clues and finally get to the bottom of the Trump campaign’s Russia ties. Last month the network infamously sent a reporter to St. Petersburg, where he literally dug around a dumpster looking for leads.
Today CNN sent a reporter to Bangkok to speak with a prostitute who claims to have the goods on the Trump camp’s alleged collusion with Russia. The woman, Anastasia Vashukevich, who is also a self-described “sex coach,” is currently imprisoned, and hopes that America will offer her asylum in exchange for her story.
CNN apparently found this tale credible enough to send a reporter to cover.
And they don’t call them the Clown News Network for Nothing……

DACA Illegal Aliens Arrested After Shutting Down Street Outside Paul Ryan’s Wisconsin Office
Illegal aliens and open borders activists demanding immediate amnesty for the 12 to 30 million illegal aliens living in the United States were arrested outside House Speaker Paul Ryan’s Racine, Wisconsin office after shutting down the street.

How Close Is America to Outright Gun Confiscation? Very Close.
What you have above are four crystal clear examples of a former president and an almost-president, both of them leaders of the Democrat Party, openly speaking out in favor of gun confiscation — which is precisely what both are talking about when they extol the wondrous virtues of “what Australia did.”
What happened in Australia was that the government sponsored a gun buyback in which Australians were forced to hand their guns in. That is confiscation, full stop.
Nevertheless, despite four crystal clear examples, the Washington Post fact checkers have said that it is a lie to accuse either Hillary or Obama of wanting to confiscate guns.

NAACP Urges National Gun Confiscation
NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson called for a national gun confiscation program in a syndicated column through Black Press USA on Monday.
Comparing recent school shootings to the violence and discrimination black students faced after the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court decision, Johnson wrote that “fear and terror still exist in our children’s classrooms” because of the “National Rifle Association and the politicians [sic] that support them.”

Senate clears two more judicial nominees, 27 total judges confirmed
Karen Gren Scholer was confirmed to the Northern District of Texas Monday by a vote of 95-0. The Senate also voted 85-11 to confirm Tilman Eugene Self III to the Middle District of Georgia.
Mr. Trump has placed 27 judges on the federal bench since taking office last January, when he faced an unprecedented amount of judicial vacancies. Fourteen of the 28 judicial picks took seats on circuit courts, while the other 13 nominees filled vacancies on district courts.
There are nearly five dozen more judicial nominees currently awaiting either hearings before members on the Judiciary Committee or votes before the full Senate.

When Melania and Mrs. Netanyahu met, people did a double take. Then people saw the ice-cold stilettos
Love her or not, it’s becoming clear that Melania Trump will go down in history as one of America’s most beautiful and fashion-forward icons.
Melania, in powder blue, was seemingly color coordinated with Sara Netanyahu, who wore a light teal ensemble for the couple’s official visit to the U.S.
Both women were stunning, but Melania literally stood out with skyscraping metallic stilettos of the same color.

MSNBC Host to DNC Chair: Should Dems Demand Trump Impeachment?
In a softball interview with Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez on Monday afternoon, MSNBC anchor Kasie Hunt asked if the Democratic Party should make the impeachment of President Trump part of its platform. She also invited the liberal leader to wildly speculate on whether Trump was guilty of colluding with Russia during the 2016 campaign.

Now There’s a Play Called ‘Kill Climate Deniers,’ Because Why Not
Do you know anyone who denies that there’s such a thing as climate? Do you know anybody who hears the word “climate” and says, “Nuh-uh! You can’t fool me, that’s just made up!” I don’t. Yet whenever somebody questions any aspect of the prevailing global warming orthodoxy, he or she is labeled a “climate denier.”
Sounds like a real crowd-pleaser. They even made a trailer of sorts for it:

Democratic Mayor Pleads Guilty To Stealing Over $10K From Taxpayers To Fund Her Affair, But She’s Not Heading To Jail

Nashville Mayor Megan Barry pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony theft for spending more than $10,000 worth of government money, but will serve no time in jail.
Barry had reportedly been working on negotiations with Nashville District Attorney Glenn Funk to face no prosecution if she were to resign from office. Instead of jail, Barry will serve three years of probation and agreed to repay the city $11,000 in reimbursement fees, although it was reported she spent nearly $33,000 of the government’s money.

Maxine ‘Impeach 45’ Waters Receives ‘National Unity Award’

Dick Durbin Calls No Amnesty ‘Humanitarian Crisis’ While Blacks Overly Unemployed in His State
“This humanitarian crisis in this country, and I call it that,” Durbin said. “Was created by President Trump on September 5th.”
President Trump, in contrast to Durbin, has secured historic wage increases, job opportunities, and record-low unemployment for black Americans through his strict immigration enforcement initiative known as “Buy American, Hire American,” which has weeded many illegal aliens out of the U.S. workforce.
The black unemployment sits at 6.8 percent nationwide, the lowest ever in history since the Bureau of Labor Statistics began tracking black unemployment in 1972.

Police: Shootings at Chicago Gang Member Funerals ‘Out of Control’
Shootings at the funerals of Chicago-area gang members have surged to the point that police now say they are “out of control.”
Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin said there have actually been times when individuals hung out of cars and shot at one another. He said such an incident occurred in December 2017 during a funeral procession was en route to Oak Ridge Cemetery

Illegal Aliens With Sex, Robbery Convictions Among The 800 Who Evaded Capture After Dem Mayor’s Warning

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf tweeted out an impending warning of the four-day raid last week, alerting targeted individuals to the imminent arrests, and infuriating Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials, who say that many more could have been caught if they hadn’t been warned.
The raid led to the arrest of 232 illegal immigrants in the San Francisco Bay Area, 180 of which ICE said “were either convicted criminals, had been issued a final order of removal and failed to depart the United States, or had been previously removed” from the country and had come back illegally.

More reasons for Dems to sit down and scowl

2018_02 SOTU Democrats

Last week, the numbers of Americans filing for unemployment benefits fell to its lowest level in nearly 45 years.

The number of individuals getting food stamps (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP) has continued to decline under the Trump Administration.

The satellite provider DISH announced that it is bringing about 1,000 sales, human resources, and customer relations jobs back to the U.S. from overseas.

This week, Chipotle joined the ranks of companies giving out cash, stock bonuses, and improved parental leave benefits to workers following sweeping changes to the outdated U.S. tax code championed by President Trump.

4 Pete’s Sake – Wednesday, December 27

Oldest daughter had to work at the hospital yesterday, so her family is coming over this afternoon for pizza and to exchange gifts. Big Sis works at a restaurant and has to work at 5:00. She needs to put gas in her car and pay for insurance. Her parents make them work for what they want. RJ detassels corn and puts it in a savings account that he can’t withdraw from without mom’s signature. I’m so proud that our kids are raising our grandchildren with a sense of responsibility and respect. I think that’s the greatest gift they could ever give me. Maybe we did something right.

[CtH: IKWYM, Pete.  One of my greatest joys this Christmas was watching two of my three girls parent.  They’re such EXCELLENT MOMS!]

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee: Terror of the skies since 1995

The Democrat has developed a reputation for making life hell for any clerk, stewardess, or pilot unwilling or unable to make her three-and-a-half-hour flight anything less than glamorous. She takes advantage of federal travel perks to book multiple flights (only to cancel at the last minute and at no charge). She demands an upgrade to premier seats. She expects, in her words, “to be treated like a queen.”

Sometimes it gets ugly. For instance, when one peasant of a flight attendant failed to serve the food Jackson Lee requested, the congresswoman went wild. “Don’t you know who I am?” she reportedly shrieked. “I’m Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. Where is my seafood meal? I know it was ordered!”

[CtH: I can’t stand it when someone says, “Don’t you know who I am?”  ::gagme::]

Rep. Jackson Lee suspects she was accused in United incident because she’s ‘an African American woman’

“Since this was not any fault of mine, the way the individual continued to act appeared to be, upon reflection, because I was an African American woman, seemingly an easy target along with the African American flight attendant who was very, very nice,” she said.

“This saddens me, especially at this time of year given all of the things we have to work on to help people.”

A United Airlines representative told NBC News that Jackson Lee was not given preferential treatment because she is a member of Congress.

[CtH: More likely, she got preferential treatment because she’s a flaming nut job who would make United life hell otherwise.  As for being mad about having someone swipe your reservation … puh-leeze!  Like it would MATTER what color that person was?!  I’m so SICK of Jackson Lee and the rest of her race-baiting cronies in the D party!]

Pelosi Hits Back at ‘Trump Administration’s Cruel Attacks on Our Brave Transgender Servicemembers’

“The Trump Administration’s cruel attacks against our brave transgender servicemembers is a misguided decision fueled by prejudice, not the interests of national security,” Pelosi said. “The White House’s hateful agenda serves only to weaken our military and the nation it defends.”

[CtH: IOW, we should just IGNORE the hundreds of days and tens of thousands of dollars their SURGERIES make them useless to the military?  Nancy, I still haven’t forgotten that you voted for waterboarding then bitched about how Bush was a filthy torturer.]

Paul Krugman: “Make Pink Pussy Hats Symbol of Delivery from Evil”
Here, without commentary with CtH’s couldn’t resist 2 cents, are more of Krugman’s Greatest Hits of today:

  • Trump has been every bit as horrible as one might have expected.
    • Only if by “one”, you mean “Trump Deranged.”
  • Utterly unfit for office, morally and intellectually.
    • At least he knows how to give credit and pronounce corpsman.
  • The Republican Party [is] composed entirely of cynical apparatchiks, willing to sell out every principle — and every shred of their own dignity — as long as their donors get big tax cuts.
    • Not at ALL like the Democrat Party’s load of felons, thieves, and sex offenders.
  • Conservative media have given up even the pretense of doing real reporting, and become blatant organs of ruling-party propaganda.
    • Self-awareness: Zero.
  • The U.S. may yet become another Turkey or Hungary — a state that preserves the forms of democracy but has become an authoritarian regime in practice.
    • Because Congress passed laws you didn’t like?
  • America as we know it is still in mortal danger.
    • Damn that booming economy!
  • Trump . . . is clearly a dictator wannabe.
    • Because he signed those laws you didn’t like?
  • Growing evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.
    • Only if by “growing”, you mean “still no.”
  • The G.O.P. seems to be irretrievably corrupt.
    • Not at ALL like the Democrat Party …

CBO: At Least 4.5M Anchor Babies in U.S.

According to the CBO, there are 4.5 million anchor babies in the U.S. under the age of 18-years-old. This estimate does not include the potentially millions of anchor babies who are older than 18-years-old.

Should President Trump’s administration not enact major reforms to end illegal immigration — including constructing a border wall and ending birthright citizenship — the CBO estimates that at least another 600,000 anchor babies will be born to illegal alien parents in the next 10 years.

Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) once opposed birthright citizenship, saying in 1993 that “no sane country” would reward illegal aliens with U.S. citizenship for their children.

Introduced in House (01/03/2017)

Birthright Citizenship Act of 2017

This bill amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to consider a person born in the United States “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States for citizenship at birth purposes if the person is born in the United States of parents, one of whom is: (1) a U.S. citizen or national, (2) a lawful permanent resident alien whose residence is in the United States, or (3) an alien performing active service in the U.S. Armed Forces.

This Act shall not be construed to affect the citizenship or nationality status of any person born before the date of its enactment.

White House to remove historic Jackson Magnolia
The Jackson Magnolia that’s been in place behind the White House since the 1800s will be cut down, according to a report.

“The overall architecture and structure of the tree is greatly compromised and the tree is completely dependent on the artificial support,” documents obtained by the cable news outlet read. “Without the extensive cabling system, the tree would have fallen years ago.

The historic tree was planted after Andrew Jackson’s inauguration in 1829. Jackson’s wife, Rachel, died after he was elected in 1828, and according to CNN, the former president wanted to plant a sprout from his wife’s favorite magnolia tree from their farm in Tennessee.
Former first lady Michelle Obama took a seedling from the iconic tree in 2009 and brought it to the Department of Agriculture, where it could grow at the agency’s garden, and former President Barack Obama gifted a seedling from the tree to the people of Cuba in 2016.

Though the tree will be removed, another Jackson Magnolia will reportedly be planted there.

#FakeNews Newsweek Lies About Tree Removal to Smear Melania Trump

Newsweek claimed heartless Melania told the White House grounds crew to cut down a 200 year old tree.

It was a complete lie.  The tree was falling over and had to be removed — so they used the story to smear the First Lady.

[CtH: When I clicked on the story, it had been “updated” with the facts.  I think by “updated” they meant, “we got caught lying our faces off … again.”]

Rosie O’Donnell tells Paul Ryan he’s going ‘straight to hell’
“paul ryan – don’t talk about Jesus after what u just did to our nation – u will go straight to hell,” O’Donnell wrote Monday.  “U screwed up fake altar boy,” O’Donnell added.

She finished her holiday attack with the hashtag: “#JUDASmuch” in a reference to the disciple who betrayed Jesus.

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro reported an obscene tweet O’Donnell posted about him last week that said “Suck my d___ Ben,” according to Fox News.

Shapiro reported the “harassment” to Twitter to see if the social media giant would take action against a liberal. Twitter initially declined to delete the tweet, but then reversed course.

O’Donnell said she deleted her tweet to Shapiro after Twitter locked her account. She tweeted the notice she received from Twitter that she was in violation of company rules for “abusive behavior.”

Newsweek: ‘How Trump and the Nazis Stole Christmas To Promote White Nationalism’

President Donald Trump wants Americans to think he re-invented Christmas.

But critics counter that Trump is promoting a version of the holidays that excludes members of other religions, and that his crusade to bring back Christmas is part of a larger attempt by the president to define America as a country for white Christians alone.

[CtH: Wait, what?  You mean “members of other religions” don’t celebrate the birth of Christ, while black, brown, red, and yellow Christians don’t celebrate Christmas?  Who knew?!]

Wishing people “merry Christmas” instead of “happy holidays,” is thus in line with Trump’s decision to ban citizens of Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States, critics say. It fits neatly with his refusal to condemn white supremacists when they march against diversity, and with his condemnation of athletes who protest police brutality against black men.

With this in mind, the fight to end the war on Christmas is exclusionary politics at its most flagrant.

Trump predicts new health care plan will happen after repealing Obamacare mandate

“Based on the fact that the very unfair and unpopular Individual Mandate has been terminated as part of our Tax Cut Bill, which essentially Repeals (over time) ObamaCare, the Democrats & Republicans will eventually come together and develop a great new HealthCare plan!” Mr. Trump tweeted.

Republicans tried unsuccessfully to repeal and replace Obamacare over the summer, but they could not come together around a plan.

The Year of Media Freakouts

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews still has chills and thrills up his leg over Obama. He asked rhetorically on Jan. 18: “Is there a husband, a father, that we would wish more as a model for our sons, for our sons-in-law to have and raise our grandchildren? Is there anyone who carries himself better in word, in sentiment, in temperament, in optimism?”

Let’s close with the late-night comedians, who double down on the media’s arrogance. On CBS, Stephen Colbert told the president: “You’re the glutton with the button. You are a regular Gorge Washington. You are the presi-dunce, but you’re turning into a real prick-tator.” He added, “the only thing your mouth is good for” is acting as a holster for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s penis.

That’s how classy 2017 was, because there’s one thing at which liberals feel they excel: unifying the country with civil discourse.

[CtH: Hmmm … husband?  Before the White House, Barack did not live with his wife and daughters.  In the White House, Michelle had her mother in residence, methinks to act as a buffer in what gives every appearance of being a fairly terrible marriage.  Father?  Maybe.  Personally, I wouldn’t want a malignant narcissist as a father, but that’s just me.  Carries himself in word, etc?  Repeat my last comment.]

Magazine Mocks Hillary With New Years Resolutions Suggestions for 2018

Some of the lefty media are starting to show signs they’ve had it up to here with the Hillary circus and want her to just disappear as much as we do. One such media publication is Vanity Fair, who nauseatingly fawned over her for 8 years and goo-gooed at her anticipated coronation. But as with all thing faux, people tend to tire of or see through them. Mockingly, Vanity Fair suggest Hillary find other things to do in 2018 instead of bothering people by running for office again, like just get a hobby and go away.

Guess what’s missing from CNN’s list of theories for Hillary Clinton’s sinking favorability

CNN’s Chris Cillizza published a piece today offering four possible explanations for the decline in Hillary Clinton’s popularity.  In case you missed this story, Allahpundit noted yesterday that Hillary is at her lowest favorability rating ever according to Gallup, just 36 percent.

Black Unemployment Rate Lowest in 17 Years

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the unemployment rate for black Americans is the lowest it has been since the year 2000, 17 years ago.

  • In November, the national unemployment rate for black Americans, ages 16 and over, was 7.3%.
  • The last time it was 7.3% was in the year 2000, during the months September, October and November.
  • During the Bush and Obama years (2001 -2016), the black unemployment rate fluctuated between 7.7% and a high of 16.8%.

The Obama Years: A Legacy Of Scandal And Deception
Joe Biden’s bizarre disconnect regarding his scandal-ridden former boss.
On December 13, former vice president, Joe Biden, appeared on CBS with the hosts of “This Morning” where he peddled his new book and showered his former boss with praise. During the course of the interview, he was asked about his relationship with Obama and responded with the following;

“I’ve served with eight presidents and I’ve gotten to know four of them very well. I’ve never met any president that has more character, more integrity, and more backbone than this guy does.” Then he went completely off the rails when he absurdly added; “And eight years, not a hint — not a hint — of a scandal.”

What was perhaps even more outrageous than the statement itself was the fact that none of This Morning’s hosts challenged the veracity of that statement and allowed it to pass without a scintilla of scrutiny, exposing yet again an extreme bias existing within elements of the establishment media.

NFL Cancels Final ‘Sunday Night Football’ Game Of Season

The NFL announced Tuesday that the final “Sunday Night Football” game of the season has been canceled, according to CNN.  The league had yet to announce who would play during the primetime game next Sunday, but with the chance that none of the matchups would have playoff implications for one or both of the teams, they opted not to schedule the game.
The other problem the league faced was broadcasting a game on New Year’s Eve, which would invite lower number of viewers traditionally on that night. Instead, fans can settle in for seven games at kick-off at 1 p.m. eastern Sunday and a total of 9 games starting at 4:25 p.m. eastern time.

In a season plagued with lower ratings due to the national anthem protests, the league’s decision was not surprising

The Trump Economy

DEM response to GOP

Unless the Rapture comes soon, we’re all going to die. At least in TRUMP’S economy, we’ll have JOBS while we wait, so we can pay for our OWN food and housing and healthcare.

Newt Gingrich: “The left-wing media and the elites never seem to tire of being wrong.”

New York Post editorial board: The House Republicans tax-cut plan “meets the nation’s needs” and “offers the relief for business and the middle class needed to get the economy roaring.”

The unemployment rate is at 4.1%, the lowest level since December 2000 and below the 4.2% that economists predicted.

US services sector saw record growth in October and the data point to continued strength in the months ahead.

FALSE: Democrats claim the GOP tax plan cause “families making less than $86,100 on average will face a hefty tax hike.” The TRUTH is the exact opposite.

Trump’s Historic First 200 Days

If you only get your news from the MSM and Left-wing social media, you are no doubt TOTALLY SURE that President Trump is carrying our country to Hell in a basket.  Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Stock Market: Since the 2016 presidential election in November, the Dow, a benchmark index of stock performance, has set 48 record-setting closing highs. Millions of Americans are benefiting in their retirement savings accounts.

2017_08 Trump Bull Market

National Debt: Our national debt has decreased by $102 Billion since Trump’s inauguration. During Obama’s first 200 days, it increased by more than $1 Trillion. Trump also shaved $1.6 billion off the cost of his Air Force One and the military’s F-35 airplanes.

Generosity: President Trump donated his first quarter paycheck to fund Antietam battlefield restorations and his second quarter paycheck to fund a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) camp.

Inflation: US inflation rate decreased 1.6% in June, an eight month low. This is in part due to President Trump’s energy policies that are making gas and electricity cheaper which, in turn, means Americans have more to spend on other stuff..

Manufacturing: The US Manufacturing Index soared to a 33 year high, the best number since 1983 under President Reagan.

Trade: Trump also killed the TPP, opened up our exports of beef and LNG gas to China, and made Mexico drop the amount of refined sugar it exports to us, which will help our sugar mills sell more.

Regulations: Candidate Trump promised he’d remove 2 old regulations for each new one he implemented. As president, his administration has so far removed SIXTEEN old regulations for each new one it has implemented. He also pulled out of the Paris accord, which was burdening our economy unfairly.  Removing burdensome government regulations allows companies to spend less time and money on compliance and more on areas that create new jobs.

Jobs: During Trump’s first 200 days, U.S. employers added more than one million new jobs. During that same period in Obama’s administration, we lost more than four million.

Housing: There have been nearly twice as many US housing sales in the past couple of months as there were under President Obama in 2009 during the same time period. Also, houses are on the market for only an average of 45 days. (In 2011, it was 84 days.)

Government Assistance: During Obama’s eight years, the number of food stamp recipients rose by 10.7 million. After just 200 days under Trump, that number has dropped by more than 1.1 million.

Illegal Aliens: The numbers sneaking across our borders has dropped 67%. SCOTUS held up Trump’s travel ban and ICE has arrested 66,000 illegals, most of them violent criminals, including 6,000 members of the vicious MC-13 gang.

Women: With Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, Trump launched the United States-Canada Council for Advancement of Women Entrepreneurs and Business Leaders.

Unemployment: The Unemployment Rate decreased from 4.8% to 4.3%. During Obama’s first 200 days, it increased from 7.8% to 9.5%.

Keep in mind that, since President Clinton decreed that “Discouraged Workers” were not “Unemployed”, the “Unemployment Rate” has tended to increase when the economy improves, due to discouraged workers becoming hopeful enough to begin searching for jobs again. The opposite also occurs. As the economy worsens, the “Unemployment Rate” can actually go down as people who want to work become too discouraged to continue seeking employment. This is why I prefer the “Percent of Americans Employed” metric. Clinton didn’t screw with that one, so it’s still meaningful across multiple administrations and without tedious explanations about why it’s stupid.  This is also why both the decrease under Trump and the increase under Obama reflected less of the good and bad changes in their respective economic policies.

We TOLD you … again and again and again!

Liberals are trying to process the fact that increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour has reduced both earnings and the number of jobs.

MINIMUM WAGE McD's machines

Jill Filipovic, a New York attorney, journalist and a liberal/progressive feminist author, tweeted:

Seattle’s minimum wage hike (which I thought was a great idea) may actually have cost low-wage workers.

Tweeters did not hesitate to sneer:

  • If only someone out there who understood economics had predicted this result… oh wait.
  • If only there was a 250 year old empirical social science that could have predicted this astonishing result.
  • This was all covered in the entry level economics course.
  • We told you and told you and told you.
  • Everyone but liberals like you predicted this.

As could be expected, Jill hasn’t learned a damn thing. Her follow up tweets:

The takeaway here should not be, “don’t raise the minimum wage.” It should be continued study of wage policies that optimize worker gains.
