I’M BACK! SEEMS SO LONG

Glad to announce that after almost 24 hours in intensive care my Univac has been revived and, hopefully ready for more abuse. My tech guy had to take the machine home with him after an hour yesterday because he said having 2 or 3 viruses was normal, mine had 17.Also,with no browsers open, most computers are running 50-60 programs.Mine has 126.It took till 3:30 this morning to remove all the viruses and make it perform like it should. He brought it back today and DW answered the door while I was curled up in the fetal position, sucking my thumb and whimpering softly.
I had a bunch of things bookmarked yesterday and,of course, much has been posted since then.I’ll try to pick some relevant stuff for you.
A special thanks to Mindful and CtH for filling in.I always enjoy what they post because of the professional style.

  1. Debate crowd loudly laughs at “War Against Women” charge by female Dem challenger (#NY23)
When a candidate loses credibility, it’s hard to regain.

At the candidate debate tonight, that lost credibility was evidenced when Robertson accused Reed of being part of the War Against Women. She actually used the phrase “you’re part of the War against Women.”

The crowd laughed so hard, Robertson had to ask for more time.

This video clip is being circulated and who knows, may go viral.

Channel 18 (1:30 clip) – political analyst sums up debate. He mentions Robertson’s “You’re part of the War on Women” as a MAJOR blunder and mentions how absurd it is given that Tom has 8 older sisters and was raised by a single mother.

He will not be ignored, Dan!

For all their attempts to distance themselves from Barack in the Midterms, red state Democrats Kay Hagan, Mark Pryor, Mary Landrieu, Jeanne Shaheen, Mark Udall, and Mark Begich just may come home to find the pet bunny boiling on the stove.

The principals at Ruth Chaffee Elementary and Anna Reynolds Elementary say leave the costumes at home.

That means 8-year-old Alyssa Montano can’t bring her pointed hat and broom to the classroom.

“What did you think when you found out you can’t celebrate Halloween at school?” we asked.

“It was stupid and weird because they shouldn’t take it away from other people,” said Alyssa.

I’ll bet they’ll be forced to celebrate muslim holidays, though.

Let’s not forget that President Clinton was impeached for obstruction of justice and lying under oath, and he paid heavy fines for his reckless behavior. In the end, he lost his Arkansas law license.
Its a sad truth this despicable whoremonger and his power-hungry wife expect to waltz to the presidency in two years’ time.

  15. STUDY: ILLEGAL NON-CITIZEN VOTES COULD SWAY U.S. ELECTIONS
    <img src="” alt=”” />
According to the author’s preview published Friday, more than 14 percent of non-citizens in 2008 and 2010 “indicated” they were registered to vote and some did.
“Our best guess, based upon extrapolations from the portion of the sample with a verified vote, is that 6.4 percent of non-citizens voted in 2008 and 2.2 percent of non-citizens voted in 2010,” wrote Richman and Earnest.
They note that non-citizens tend to be Democratic voters and that in their 2008 sample, 80 percent of non-citizens cast ballots for Obama. Given that, they conclude that non-citizen participation “was large enough to plausibly account for Democratic victories in a few close elections.”

this is not exactly a revelation to anyone paying attention.

  19. I’m a-gonna try this one more time. Pete: My professional observer’s observation is, you need to re-learn how to put images in comments.

You no longer need to add those <img src=” and “alt=”” /> parts anymore. Just paste the URL alone, and WordPress will add all the image tag gobbledygook (sorry, technical term). And just to be super-clear, the URL is just the bit that starts with http:// (usually) and ends in .jpg (usually) or .png or .gif. (Not just Pete, lurkers: apparently, any users can add images to comments now this way.)

However, I would presume you still have to use the full image tag gobbledygook in the main post itself. So, sum total, did this change make it easier for bloggers, or twice as hard, ’cause you have to remember two techniques? 😯

Keep in mind that next to you and most of the other posters here I’m a virtual retard.I learned through trial and error how to add images. There’s no problem going through IE,just click on ‘properties’ and C&P after I’ve hit the edit button and paste to IMG.In Chrome I right click on ‘inspect element’,copy the highlighted line of text and do the same procedure.Thats when the <img src tag shows up.I’m not smart enough to do it any other way.As long as it works I’m reticent to change it.

I have to try this. I’ve been doing it the hard way in comments … creating a comment, uploading a graphic, copying the URL, opening the comment, clicking IMG then dropping the URL into the box.

If I understand you, MW, I still need to upload new graphics, but then can copy the URL and dump it straight into a comment box. That skips 2-3 steps. Maybe 4.

BTW, loading graphics into the main blog is easy. Just put the cursor where you want it, load the media and tell it yes that is what I want here.

    Probably Nothing

A faithful reader who asks us to withhold his name informs us that he has reason to believe the computer network within the Executive Office of the President has been down for close to a week, and staff throughout the various components still lack basic access to their files (though many are now able to access e-mail and the Internet). He advises that EOP staff have been told not to say anything about the situation to anyone. He adds that a major security breach is suspected, but no information has been forthcoming, either to those inside the EOP or to the public.
