Democrats and Thugs

THUG (noun)

1. A violent person, especially a criminal. Synonyms: ruffian, hooligan, vandal, hoodlum, gangster, villain, criminal. “One of Capone’s thugs.” (Capone was Italian.)

2. Historically, a member of a religious organization of robbers and assassins in India. Devotees of the goddess Kali, the Thugs waylaid and strangled their victims, usually travelers, in a ritually prescribed manner. They were suppressed by the British in the 1830s.

Greta Van Susteren posted this on her Facebook:

“This really annoys me because it continues to happen. It was not just one person last week, but now others. Before I get into what annoys me, let me remind the critics, I spent years representing poor people – almost exclusively minorities – in civil rights cases and criminal cases. I have a solid record. I still work hard to help those who need help (ask anyone!)

“And what do I read tonight? Others coming out and critical of anyone using a word that they now claim to be wrong. I am talking about the word thug. Wrong word, really? Thug is now a word I can’t use to call those who set cars on fire, throw rocks at police and burn down senior centers? Really?

“I would call ANYONE, with any ethnic background a thug who throws rocks at police and sets cars on fire (and yes, I would call a police officer or a lawyer or anyone else who beats up an innocent person a thug, too.)
But what is annoying, is rather than working on the real problems – jobs, education, education, etc – some are consumed with the words we use. That is absurd. We need people to work on real problems — not people running around telling everyone what to say and implying they are racists when they are not.”

The real racists are those who claim that “thug” is a racist dog whistle.

Fake but accurate

2015_04 NRA meeting

The people in the back are actually a long way back and standing on higher ground; the small group in front creates the illusion that the crowd is continuous from the big people to the small people when there really isn’t anyone between the two groups.  A similar trick was used to make Elijah Wood look four feet tall.

It’s Official: Not Even Barack’s Family Knows The Identity of His Real Father

But even the Kenyan Obamas think it’s most likely Frank Marshall Davis.
Ireportprod-MalikObamaConfirmsHisHalfbrotherBar316885_lg
Malik Obama, pictured above, son of Barack H. Obama, Sr. and our President’s claimed half-brother has now gone on record, along with his family in Kenya, in disputing that the President of the United States has any blood relation whatsoever with the Obama family. They have completely disowned him.

Malik has been quoted by TruthRevolt.org as saying that the family believes the President’s real father is most likely his mentor, “step-father” and known Communist Frank Marshall Davis: “Obama resembles his step father, Frank, in many ways and is just a liar and mean like him. It is possible his mother messed around to give birth to him because his definitely not the son of my father, Barrack Obama senior—they have nothing in common.”
obama-frank-marshall-davis
This theory has been expressed by many for years, but this is the first time it’s been openly acknowledged by the President’s claimed family in Kenya. There are other significant questions about the President’s birth narrative. Some have pointed out the profound resemblance between Barack Obama and the founder of an Indonesian muslim cult to which Ann Dunham belonged. Other’s in Britain’s MI6 spy agency have claimed there is DNA evidence suggesting that the President is not even related genetically to the woman who raised him – Ann Dunham. The following video includes some of those allegations.

All of this begs the question of whether we really know much of anything about Barack Obama, the man sitting behind the Resolute Desk in the White House, right now. My own theory is that Grace Jones was both Barack’s mother and father. That makes about as much sense as anything in his narrative, and Ms. Jones is more wholesome than anyone else associated with Barack’s early years. Perhaps that will be the official narrative by the time the Obama Presidential Library opens for business in Chicago.

Feeling sad? Eat your kraut!

Serotonin and gut health

I have a sign on my fridge:

HAVE YOU HAD YOUR THREE K’S TODAY?
KEFIR KOMBUCHA KRAUT

“KRAUT” is my generic term for any naturally fermented produce. You can get sauerkraut, kimchee and pickles in most stores; just make sure you get them from the cooler and that they are labeled “unpasteurized” and/or “naturally fermented”, so you know they contain LIVE pro-biotic cultures.

I make my own kefir, kombucha and “krauts” at home. At the moment, my fridge is host to a bottle of pineapple/coconut (milk) kefir (a sweet, delicious shake with a bit of fizz to it), a bowl of kefir cheese, bottles of kombucha that I brewed with dark cherry juice (oh my, is it good!), fruit kimchee (sweet AND hot), fermented prunes (WONDERFUL in yogurt), fermented red cabbage and beets (with the greens), and my current TOP FAVORITE … fermented apples and carrots (with the greens).

We ran out of the fermented salsa I had made that was SO DELICIOUS, it is next on my To Do list. The recipe is @ http://wellnessmama.com/2643/fermented-salsa/. It’s good fresh too, but after some fermenting, it’s FANTASTIC. Plus, fermenting makes it rich in those very important pro-biotics, so yes, please FERMENT it!

The recipe calls for whey, which is the milky/yellowish liquid that drips out of the cheese bag when you make kefir cheese. The point of the whey is to give the salsa a jump start on the fermenting process, but fresh, organic produce has enough wild pro-biotics to get a ferment going without it. However, if you’re like me and make kefir cheese regularly, it’s nice to have a use for the whey, plus the faster the ferment starts making bubbles, the sooner the head space in the jar fills with carbon dioxide, which prevents mold growth.

Fermenting is done at room temperature. Without the carbon dioxide and salt, mold will grow on the surface of the food. BUT, if you have enough salt (minimum 1 tsp per quart of produce) AND you get the bubbles going, you don’t need to worry about mold growth.

I also use an airlock lid, but you don’t have to buy one to give fermenting a try.  Sterilize a glass canning jar, put the produce in to the fill line, then cap it with plastic wrap and a canning jar ring. (The ring is the circle part that screws to the jar; don’t use the round metal part, which is called the lid.)

The plastic wrap will allow you to see the surface of the food so you can ease your mind that it’s not growing any mold AND it will also allow the carbon dioxide that forms in the fermenting process to fill up the head space and bulge the plastic wrap up, so you can be reassured that fermenting really is happening.  (You may also see bubbles in the produce, but not always.)  If the plastic gets bulgy enough you think it might burst, unscrew the ring a bit and let the excess gas out.

Another way to ensure mold doesn’t grow is to add a 1-2 mm layer of olive oil on top of your produce before you seal the jar. The oil will stay on top and help block out the oxygen that the mold needs and after your produce is fermented, you can just mix it into the food and eat it.

Feel free to email me if you want to try this and have questions.

MAYDAY… LET’S PROTEST SOMETHING

Went fishing yesterday. The temp was about 57, felt like 40 on the water. 17MPH wind, choppy water, fish weren’t biting. Spent a day outdoors with my best friend. It was beautiful.

No idea where this is going. Which is normal.
