1A: Shane and Jennifer DeGross had been foster parents for almost a decade when Washington State decided to impose a “trans or else” clause in their fostering requirements. The couple refused to agree to affirm any gender confusion of a child placed in their care, saying it violated their Christian faith. A federal court has just ruled in their favor. The judge noted that if the state had banned foster parents from using woke pronouns, he would have ruled that unconstitutional as well.
AMERICAN HISTORY: On April 29, 1945, American forces reached Dachau, the first concentration camp established by the Nazis. The soldiers walked into a nightmare beyond imagination. The railroad tracks leading to the gates were lined with boxcars filled with the dead — hundreds of bodies, starved, twisted, and left to rot in the spring sun. The stench of death hung in the air, and even the most seasoned soldiers struggled to comprehend what they were seeing.
Inside the camp, the living moved like ghosts. Survivors emerged slowly from the barracks, their striped uniforms draped over skeletal frames, eyes sunken but still searching — not for food, but for proof that what they saw was real. Overcome by the sight of the living and the dead intermingled, he dropped his weapon, knelt, and wept as he cut through the barbed wire that had held them prisoner for so long.
A survivor, frail and trembling, reached out and whispered through cracked lips, “Tell the world… tell the world.” That plea became a promise — one carried home by every soldier who bore witness that day. The liberation of Dachau was not just a military victory; it was a reckoning with the depths of human cruelty and the enduring strength of those who survived it. For many who entered those gates, it remained the single most haunting memory of their lives — a vision of suffering that demanded to be remembered, and never repeated.
