I enjoy serious articles about archeology of Biblical lands and times. What I don’t care for is when Bible “believers” celebrate some scriptural-verifying find as “proof” the Bible is “all real.” Uncovering Jericho is no more proof that Jonah was swallowed by a big fish than uncovering Troy. It really shouldn’t be a big surprise that what is written in ancient histories turns out to be historic.

That potting mix video was pretty scary. I have been using potting mix — multiple huge bags of it — every summer for decades and have never once worn protective gear of any kind — not even gardening gloves, let alone a face mask or eye protection. When I’m done I hose my hands down with the garden hose, but that’s about as fastidious as I get. How am I even alive?
