BORDER: Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin says that, between July 27 through Aug. 29, federal immigration authorities have taken 2,197 illegal immigrants off the streets of New York. The surge is aptly named “Operation Rotten Apple.”
DRUG PRICES: Trump has secured agreements with nine midsize pharmaceutical companies – Alcon, Astellas Pharma, BeOne Medicines, BridgeBio, CSL, Kyowa Kirin, Sun Pharma, Teva Pharmaceuticals, and UCB – to reduce drug prices for American patients. The new agreements gets out prices in line with other developed countries who, until now, have been paying less. In exchange, the companies will secure tariff relief.
ELECTION INTEGRITY: Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar said, “What [Republicans] are trying to do is exclude certain portions of voters from actually participating.” Then he cited among “non-citizens” among those we are trying to exclude.

JUSTICE: Speaking of awful issues …
MAHA: Walking is an excellent form of exercise. But it isn’t enough to keep us healthy and active as we age. We also need to do strength training to fight back against the loss of balance and strength in our bones and muscles that come with advancing years.
Studies have shown that regular strength training significantly lowers the risk of death and neurological disease, while improving bone mineral density. The numbers generally cited are 90 minutes per week, usually in two sessions, with brisk walking on the other days. (Brisk meaning until you are puffing hard enough that you can still talk, but not sing.)
If you have a chronic medical condition or concerns about exercising safely, consult your doctor. Begin each workout with a five- to 10-minute dynamic warm-up or light aerobic activity, such as brisk walking, before every session. If you are new to training, a qualified fitness professional can help.
Dearest and I recently joined the gym that is in the same building where our (now former, yay!) physical therapists work. We were delighted to find they participate in the Silver and Fit program, which our insurance company covers at 100%. For us, that means our gym visits are free, but we did have to pay the gym’s licensed trainer to get us up to speed on which of the machines to use and how.

According to the International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA) seven countries still retain capital punishment for homosexual behavior. They are Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iran, Afghanistan, Mauritania, northern Nigeria, and the United Arab Emirates, Muslim majority nations all.
TRUCKERS: An inter-agency effort has revoked the licenses of 270 schools that issued Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDL) to drivers who could not speak or read English. Another 200 training schools are due to be inspected and audited, along with a number of third-party CDL testers.
WHITE HOUSE BALLROOM: The Supremes voted 5-4 to allow construction. Trump’s issue is that he has ultimate authority concerning his own security and that the new ballroom is necessary to keep him and future presidents safe. The opposition’s issue is a law prohibiting the construction of any ‘building or structure … on any reservation, park, or public grounds of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia without express authority of Congress.”
