Latest Islamic Attack Story Turns Out to be a Hoax Aimed at Pope; Fools Fox News’ Megyn Kelly and Multiple Other US News Outlets

A PoliNation Exclusive:
INDIGNATI: ROMA, DITRUTTA STATUETTA MADONNA IN VIA LABICANA
The story, as reported, is about an attack by 5 Islamic ‘immigrants’ in the streets of Perugia, Italy near the St. Barnabas shrine. It’s difficult to say exactly where the story started due to a lack of good citations, and it’s still being reported as fact by U.S. news outlets. However, just in the last few hours a blogger named John Liburne and I both noticed that the photo of a smashed Virgin Mary statue accompanying the stories was actually from an attack in Rome in 2011.

All English language reports quote either The Gateway Pundit or the translated story by Raymond Ibrahim which cites a Spanish Language news blurb by Alerta Digital, apparently from Madrid. This appears to be the source of the re-purposed photo from 2011.

The fallout from the hoax is that the story is being used to portray Pope Francis as even more willing to excuse the excesses of violent Islamists than he actually is. That, in turn, is generating actual outrage and hatred directed at the Pontiff, all on account of words that he’s not really said about an event that never really happened. He is already under attack for real statements he’s made about the recent French massacre that seem far too critical of those who insult religion and not critical enough of those who murder cartoonists.

It’s interesting that the story is being repeated by the FreeRepublic, which is a news site that also published the story about the original Rome attack, including the picture of the smashed virgin being passed off now as the statue that was smashed in Perugia. They apparently didn’t remember the photo. But they’re in good company. Megyn Kelly also parroted the story on her website.

Pope Francis put Cardinal Burke in charge of an ARMY!

Cardinal Burke

This blog is loaded with good pics, so I recommend you go to http://www.catholicvote.org/the-pope-didnt-exile-cardinal-burke-he-gave-him-an-army-photos/ to see it as the author intended.  But, if you’re too busy and just want the facts, ma’am, here’s the text only.

The Pope Didn’t Exile Cardinal Burke. The Pope Gave Him An Army.
By Thomas Peters – December 3, 2014

I wish someone would exile me the way Pope Francis exiled Cardinal Burke.  When I think of exile or banishment, I think of tiny islands where friends are few and far between.

The Associated Press described Cardinal Burke’s new position as “largely ceremonial” and said the Knights of Malta are a “charity” who provide “residences for the elderly.”

Oh, really?  Because last time I checked, the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta (their full name) was the world’s oldest surviving order of chivalry boasting over 13,000 members (knights and dames), 80,000 permanent volunteers and 20,000 personnel.

The Knights of Malta became a military order in 1099 during the First Crusade that conquered Jerusalem.  They kept themselves busy for the next Four Hundred Years by conquering islands, protecting Christian pilgrims and fighting Muslims.  Then in 1517 they helped turn back the Ottomon Empire in the Battle of Lepanto. It was kind of a big deal.

The modern day Knights of Malta are present in over 120 countries. They have bilateral and official diplomatic relations with over half of the world.  The Order now also includes Dames of Malta, seen here preparing for battle in line outside the Vatican.

Cardinal Burke has said he will be traveling to meet with Knights and Dames of Malta all over the world, maybe in one of their planes.  That’s right, planes.

When he gets to his destination, maybe he will use one of these Sovereign Military Order of Malta passports.  You know who else has to carry multiple passports?  Secret agents.  Undercover operatives.  International men of the liturgical counter-revolution!

As Cardinal Burke explains, the Knights of Malta have two primary missions (that we know about): the defense of the faith (defensio fidei) and the care for the poor (obsequium pauperum).

Pretty awesome, right? And we’re just getting started.

Every year the Knights of Malta bring thousands of malades (the sick and infirm) on pilgrimage to Lourdes, France for a week. They gather in the Basilica of St. Pius XII, which looks like this from above on Google Maps. But underground it holds 25,000 knights, dames, pilgrims and malades.

Cardinal Burke will be serving as Patron of the Order, an office where he serves as the representative of the pope to the prince of the sovereign military order, Fra. Matthew Festing, the 79th head of the order.  Here is Cardinal Burke leading a procession in Lourdes.

Oh wait, that’s a bad angle There. That’s better. The unofficial motto of the Knights of Malta is “Go big or go home”.  Cardinal Burke says he is optimistic for the future and is looking forward to his new assignment.  I would be too if the pope had just given me an army!

Immigration: What is a Catholic to think?

Illegal alien

From Catholic Vote:

Catholics in good conscience can disagree on the appropriate level of immigration to allow and how to best reform our broken system. There is no dogma on immigration policy. Careful reasoning, respect for human dignity, persuasion, and prudence are all necessary tools.

That’s why we believe an executive order will only make the problem worsemaking real reform even more difficult.

We believe the Bishops should encourage leaders of both parties to offer up one or two basic reforms which could generate bipartisan consensus in Congress. Find some common ground however modest. And start to build from there.

What does the RCC teach about divination and magic?

Divination tools

From the Catholic Catechism’s “Divination and magic” section:

2115 God can reveal the future to his prophets or to other saints. Still, a sound Christian attitude consists in putting oneself confidently into the hands of Providence for whatever concerns the future, and giving up all unhealthy curiosity about it. Improvidence, however, can constitute a lack of responsibility.

2116 All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to “unveil” the future. Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.

2117 All practices of magic or sorcery, by which one attempts to tame occult powers, so as to place them at one’s service and have a supernatural power over others – even if this were for the sake of restoring their health – are gravely contrary to the virtue of religion. These practices are even more to be condemned when accompanied by the intention of harming someone, or when they have recourse to the intervention of demons. Wearing charms is also reprehensible. Spiritism often implies divination or magical practices; the Church for her part warns the faithful against it. Recourse to so-called traditional cures does not justify either the invocation of evil powers or the exploitation of another’s credulity.
