It’s over. Labor Day has past and with it the official end of summer. One last chance for a ride in the country to a farm that sells fresh produce in the front yard. Fresh corn to roast on the grill alongside the dead animal flesh,tomatoes and bell peppers for the salad and ripe,red watermelon to remind you of days when you got so messy eating it and spitting the seeds at your sister. Here in the northern climes it seems like it’s warm for such a short time and cold for so long it’s hard,once again,facing the reality of months of freezing cold,snow and ice storms.
This was the coldest summer I can remember in some time. Temperatures every night dropped to the upper 50s-low 60s. We had one day in July when the weather hit 90 degrees and maybe two days in August. The park district pools and the water theme park suffered because the water never gets really warm and kid aren’t too keen on swimming when it’s 70 degrees. The farmer we talked to said all the rain we got really made the corn grow. Sometimes we lose sight of the fact that God has a plan for everything He does,even if we whine like little kids about it.

I read a number of articles today by legal people saying there’s no way a grand jury will indict Ofc. Darren Wilson,given the facts at hand and more than a dozen witnesses who saw Saint Charging Bull pummel the officer senseless and after starting to leave the scene,came back to finish the beating. That’s when Wilson used deadly force to stop the 300 lb. Brown.Wilson was taken to the hospital for treatment for severe facial wounds.
Facts, unfortunately, are nothing but an annoyance to the liberal agenda. Holder met yesterday with the aggrieved,soon-to-be-millionaire birth units of the young gangster and reassured the screaming mobs ‘change is coming.’

I spoke with another black I work with and he thinks its perfectly OK for his ‘people’ to take what they can get,sees no problem in baby mama and baby daddy making lots of money because they kid was a criminal and says blacks killing whites is simply “payback.”

In the other top story today,African Idol Barry Obama gave a five minute statement on the butchering of James Foley,mumbled some crap about ISIS not representing peace-loving muslims,then 8 minutes…EIGHT FREAKING MINUTES!!!! later he was out of his jacket and dress shirt and back on the golf course for a 5 hour round with his buddies. Those of us on the right are sickened but far from surprised,while the left feigns outrage that their hero feels no empathy for anyone but himself. That’s the description of a total narcissist.

A little decompression would seem appropriate. There are some truly bizarre links today,like drunken lawn mower jockeys and the world’s biggest fart machine. Pete is ever on the cutting edge of journalism.
Every once in awhile I like to do a little reminiscing about a time that was less frenetic,maybe a little more innocent (at least it seemed to us) and to be a little saddened to think our children and grandchildren will never know how good it once was.
Some of these were pulled from Facebook,some I just remembered from an earlier time. You’ll recognize some of these,but some you may not unless you’re REALLY old.
We couldn’t afford these,so my granny split the seams in my dungarees and sewed a triangle of cloth to them to widen them.I was the coolest kid in school.
Fireworks in our state are illegal. These were not.
If you remember this you’re REALLY dating yourself. It was the first interactive TV show and aired on CBS from 1953-1957. The kit included a piece of vinyl to press on the television screen and crayons. They would draw lines on the monitor and you traced them on the sheet. Then you could peel it off and color it. There was also a magic cloth to wipe it clean so you could be ready for the next week.
Who didn’t try this on a hot day before you let the water run awhile?
These came in Kellogg’s cereal. Put some baking soda in the bottom and drop them in the tub……magic.

It is not healthy to live in the past,but it seems a good place to visit once in awhile.
There is a new wordpress format today and I don’t care for it. I have never seen a post here that had the comments disabled and several of CtH’s are. One of the biggest reasons I love posting here is to share thoughts and see what others have to contribute. It’s like anticipating going to a ball game and finding out they don’t allow fans into the game.
Like grandpa used to say: just when you think you have all the answers,they go and change the questions!
