Media FAIL

September 16, 2013 at CNN:

CAROL COSTELLO: This seems so unusual to me that a gunman could create this kind of havoc at a U.S. military facility. Have you ever heard of it happening before, Brian?

BRIAN TODD: Well, we did have the Fort Hood shooting in 2009.

DOG Not saying you're stupid

While the Navy Yard assault was still on-going, some “source” told reporters the shooter had an AR-15. CNN’s Musket Morgan and a host of other pro-gun-controllers predictably jumped right on the wagon.

One has to wonder if they have these AR-15 stories pre-written, like celebrity obituaries. In any case, it turns out they were wrong.

2013_09 16-17 CNN report AR15

Will they retract? ::snort:: One of them took a page from Shrillary “What difference does it make?” Clinton:

“Does it really matter what kind of gun was used? The people are just as dead regardless.”

Hmm … it seemed to matter when you thought you could use it to promote your gun control agenda.

2013_09 17 NY Daily News Same GUN

Granted: Piers’ notation about Aurora and Sandy Hook were somewhat correct. Those shooters did carry semi-automatic rifles, though that particular gun malfunctioned during the Aurora incident.

But what about the SHOTGUNS? Huh? All THREE shooters had SHOTGUNS!

THE TUESDAY GRUDGE

Posted by Pistol Pete

The bodies were still warm yesterday when the leftards started pointing fingers of blame everywhere, looking for a scapegoat for a deranged man deciding to kill  a lot of people. You know a lot of details, thanks to a liberal mindset that prioritizes making excuses for criminal behavior rather than simply accept that unspeakable evil exists in the world.

The predictable cries for gun control resounded from coast to coast, ignoring the fact no gun law would have stopped any of these tragedies. For them,it’s not about safeguarding the people, it’s all about control. Always has been. Yesterday’s shootings dominated the news, but there are a few items I dug up to intersperse among the daily claptrap you sift through here daily.

CNN BUBBLEHEAD CAROL COSTELLO CAN’T REMEMBER ANYTHING LIKE THIS EVER HAPPENING ON A MILITARY POST…. GUESS SHE FORGOT FORT HOOD

CAROL COSTELLO: I used to work in Washington, live in Washington. This seems so  unusual to me that a gunman could create this kind of havoc at a U.S. military  facility.

BRIAN TODD: Yes.

COSTELLO: Have you ever heard of it  happening before, Brian?

TODD: I’m sorry, Carol. I missed that question.  Could you repeat it please?

COSTELLO: I was just saying that this is so unusual, because this is such a heavily-secured military facility. I’ve worked  in Washington for many years, I’ve never heard of such a thing  happening.

TODD: Well, we haven’t either in this area, Carol. This is  the first time we’ve seen something like this, at least in many, many years. Now  you remember the Fort Hood shooting in 2009, where that was a member of the  service who was convicted eventually of doing that shooting.

This is Roy Hawthorne. He was a Navajo Code Talker in WWII. Communicating with others of his tribe assigned to different Marine units was the only code that was never broken during the entire war. He is helped by two Navjo Marines at the end of a two mile parade. His was a time when violent men with guns preserved our freedom with the kind of support from our country that will never be again. Ever.

I’m for more guns, thank you very much

2013: Twelve people were gunned down on a Navy base by a well-armed BAD GUY because the GOOD GUYS had no way to stop him.

1993: President Clinton barred members of the military, including officers, from carrying firearms on military bases.

Everybody in the military is not only vetted and well-trained in the use of firearms, but also has taken a solemn oath to put their own lives on the line to protect and defend others.

But they aren’t allowed to carry firearms on base?!?!

Gun control laws are not about reducing gun violence.

They are about disarming law-abiding citizens.

In 1976, Washington, D.C. imposed the strictest gun control law in the nation.

It prohibited anyone other than law-enforcement officers from carrying a firearm in the city. Residents were even barred from keeping guns in their homes for self-defense.

By disarming law-abiding citizens, lawmakers EMBOLDENED criminals!

  • DC homicides in 1975: 188
  • DC homicides in 1988: 369
  • DC homicides in 1993: 454.

In 2011, the state with the strongest gun control laws had more than THREE times the gun murder rate of the state with the weakest gun control laws. In DC, it was TWELVE times higher.

CALIFORNIA: Strongest Gun Control State 3.25 gun murders per 100,000 people.

UTAH: Weakest Gun Control Law State: 0.97 gun murders per 100,000 people.

WASHINGTON D.C.: Model Gun Control City: 12 gun murders per 100,000 people.

2011 Gun control laws increase gun violence

Clearly, people are going to have guns no matter how much you tell them it’s wrong, so let’s junk all that useless legislation and focus on teaching our young people to use their guns safely and responsibly.

We could start in elementary school with age-appropriate lessons about how you should not let anyone make you feel bad about your trigger finger but that you should never point a gun at anyone until you’re really ready.

Older kids would learn what the parts of a gun look like and how to clean, oil, assemble and safely carry one’s weapon. This would naturally include a lesson on how to properly rubber-band a condom on the barrel to keep water out. (For the sake of the children of gun-prudish Progressives, we could have the condom part demonstrated with a banana instead of a real gun.)

There would also be field trips to gun stores to see the wonderful array of possibilities that await the eager buyer as soon as s/he comes of age, plus assemblies where members of law enforcement, the military and the hunting and competitive shooting communities would come to talk about firearms.

Every high school would have a firing range and passing the gun safety, maintenance and shooting skills class would be mandatory before graduation unless the child’s parents filed a protest with the courts citing their rights under the Constitution to raise their children according to their absurd gun-prudish moral codes.

We could start somewhere small … say Washington, D.C. … and watch what happens to those gun crimes statistics. You know, the way they did with Charter Schools.

You know that crying baby Democrat logo?

Boy is it true! Check out the before election tweets of Democrat Angela Giron, the Colorado gun control freak voters ousted this week.

2013_09 09 Giron before election

Other tweets included: “Cruise Out the Vote, Pueblo. We’re ridin’ in style to the vote center! Come catch a ride and vote NO.” with car photo; “I voted! Will you?” with pic of her wearing “I voted” sticker; “If this 95-year old couple can commit to get to a vote center to VOTE NO, you can too! Hasta la victoria!” with photo of her with said elderly couple all grinning, presumably because they Voted No!

Not a “voter suppression” cloud in sight, right? Now check out what Whiney Loser Giron had to say after getting soundly smacked down by the citizens of her district.

CNN interview with Whiney Loser Giron [2:35]

Partial transcript:

Giron: What this story really is about, it’s about voter suppression. When Colorado has voted by mail — 70 percent of Coloradans vote by mail — and we didn’t have access to that mail ballot, I mean, I —

Host: Forgive me, but I’m going to cut you off right there because if we talk voter suppression, I’ve read reports about a lack of popularity on your behalf, let’s just not go there. Let’s get to the meat of the story, which is this gun control stance…

Giron: That is the meat of the story!

Host: … That you and your, uh, let’s talk though about the stance that you and your colleague, the head of the Senate, a former police officer, have taken. And here you have mega mega cash from Mayors Against Illegal Guns, Mayor Bloomberg, versus this grassroots effort. What happened?

Giron: I’m telling you what happened is that [blah blah blah whine whine whine it wasn’t FAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.]

CO Peak Politics @COpeakpolitics tweeted:

“Majority of turnout in her district was Democrat, by a large margin. And she still lost. Voter suppression not even believable.”

Victory for 2d Amendment in Colorado

Double-whammy. The grass-roots effort to recall Colorado state Sen. president John Morse in Colorado Springs and Democrat state Sen. Angela Giron in Pueblo resulted in two historic victories for Second Amendment activists and limited-government advocates. Despite the gun control lobby’s 6-to-1 spending advantage, ordinary citizens out-organized, out-campaigned, and out-voted the Biden/Bloomberg/Brady network. Congratulations to state Senators-elect Bernie Herpin and George Rivera.

Gabby Giffords’ anti-gun PAC took illegal donations

Earlier this year, Americans for Responsible Solutions PAC, the super PAC arm of Giffords’ anti-gun group, received $10,000 from Bette Midler’s private family foundation and $5,000 from the Rupa and Bharat B. Bhatt Foundation.

Private foundations — such as the Midler and Bhatt foundations — are prohibited from lobbying to influence legislation.

The same PAC also received $250 from the New England Congregational Church in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Churches and nonprofits are prohibited from directly or indirectly intervening in political campaigns.

These are small potato donations for the super PAC that has raised millions. But that makes them more – not less – problematic, since any PAC this big and active certainly should know the tax code backwards and forwards.

It’s not rocket science to red flag donations from groups with “Foundation” and “Church” in their names for closer scrutiny, something Giffords’ group clearly failed to bother doing. After all, the IRS managed to do something like this with groups that had words like “Patriot” and “Constitution” in their names.

This is far from the first sign of hypocrisy in the Giffords arena. It seems Giffords and her hubby, astronaut Mark Kelly, enjoy recreational shooting … with the same model gun that injured Giffords in 2011.

When called out on their hypocrisy, Giffords said it was okay cuz the guy who shot her had a 33 round magazine. 17 rounds would still violate the ban on “high capacity” magazines that both Giffords and hubby pimped for in Colorado, New York, and Connecticut.

It is also worth noting that Mark Kelly recently tried to purchase an AR-15, was required to undergo a background check, and was eventually turned down by the gun store.

Liberal Logic - Mark Kelly

Meanwhile, Giffords has posed happily with one of the weapons she and Kelly are trying to get banned.

Seventy-two killed resisting gun confiscation in Boston

BOSTON – National guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed on April 19th by elements of a Para-military extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw.

Speaking after the clash, Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right-wing tax protest movement. Gage blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed against internal revenue offices. The governor, who described the group’s organizers as “criminals,” issued an executive order authorizing the summary arrest of any individual who has interfered with the government’s efforts to secure law and order. The military raid on the extremist arsenal followed wide-spread refusal by the local citizenry to turn over recently outlawed assault weapons.

Gage issued a ban on military-style assault weapons and ammunition earlier in the week. This decision followed a meeting early this month between government and military leaders at which the governor authorized the forcible confiscation of illegal arms.

One government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, pointed out that “none of these people would have been killed had the extremists obeyed the law and turned over their weapons voluntarily.” Government troops initially succeeded in confiscating a large supply of outlawed weapons and ammunition. However, troops attempting to seize arms and ammunition in Lexington met with resistance from heavily-armed extremists who had been tipped off regarding the government’s plans. During a tense standoff in Lexington’s town park, National Guard Colonel Francis Smith, commander of the government operation, ordered the armed group to surrender and return to their homes. The impasse was broken by a single shot, which was reportedly fired by one of the right-wing extremists. Eight civilians were killed in the ensuing exchange. Ironically, the local citizenry blamed government forces rather than the extremists for the civilian deaths. Before order could be restored, armed citizens from surrounding areas had descended upon the guard units.

Colonel Smith, finding his forces over matched by the armed mob, ordered a retreat. Governor Gage has called upon citizens to support the state/national joint task force in its effort to restore law and order. The governor also demanded the surrender of those responsible for planning and leading the attack against the government troops. Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and John Hancock, who have been identified as “ringleaders” of the extremist faction, remain at large.

. . . And this, people, is how the American Revolution began.

Weakening us at home and abroad

It’s all part of Obama’s promise to fundamentally transform America.

Obama The Do Nothing President

May 26, 2013: Vet Arrested for Defending His Home from a Wanted Felon

Corey Thompson,36, a United States military veteran, discovered 40-year-old Johnathon Kinsella, a wanted felon, attempting to break into his home around 11:30pm on Sunday evening. He attempted to stop Kinsella by warning him verbally that he was armed and then providing a warning shot into the ground near him. Ultimately he stopped the intruder, but police didn’t think Kinsella made the right call and charged him with unlawful use of a weapon, menacing and reckless endangering. Then they confiscated his AR-15.
