Summer 2014: A Time Line of ISIS in Iraq

The scale of the horror in Iraq is hard to fathom. Here are two personal stories to put a human face on it. Below the graphics is a timeline. Note: IS, ISIS and ISIL are all the same people.

It’s safe to assume those planes are dropping bombs, firing missiles, the pilots who are flying these missions are risking their lives, and their loved ones waiting at home for them, would probably say the U.S. is at war. As for ISIS (or ISIS/IS), the ruthless murderers have beheaded one American already and they’re threatening to kill more. In fact, ISIS threatened Americans again today while beheading a captured a Kurdish soldier. ISIS appears to be at war with us, but according to the Obama White House, we are not at war with them.

Warning: Graphic video of ISIS violence in Iraq

2014_06 14 ISIS execution

The link below has an embedded video that was linked to my Facebook by Canon Andrew. I believe the title in English is “The Islam State in Iraq.” It reminds me of scenes from World War II movies about Nazi atrocities. I found the photo above at a different site, but it seems to be a scene from the video.

From Junior Varsity to Evil Cancer in just SEVEN MONTHS?

Well, only according to President Unicorn, who told us over and over and over that the death of Osama bin Laden and removal of U.S. troops from Iraq meant that Bush’s “stupid” Global War on Terror was over, Over, OVER.

Those of us who have been PAYING ATTENTION have known disaster was inevitable … just like we know the economy is headed for a great big, possibly fatal crash because of the Obamacrats’ out-of-control spending. But that’s another story.

Today, I want to share the 2014 Junior Varsity to Evil Cancer timeline.

  • On January 27, 2014, President Obama dismissed al-Qaeda inspired groups (like ISIS) as nothing more than junior varsity wannabes.

The analogy we use around here sometimes, and I think is accurate, is if a jayvee team puts on Lakers uniforms that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant. … I think there is a distinction between the capacity and reach of a bin Laden and a network that is actively planning major terrorist plots against the homeland versus jihadists who are engaged in various local power struggles and disputes, often sectarian,” Obama said in an interview with The New Yorker.

  • On January 28, 2014, Obama said we needed to get off a “permanent war footing.”

Four Months Later …

  • On May 28, 2014, Obama had to admit that, oopsie, these “jayvee” groups had indeed become Kobe Bryant.

As the Syrian civil war spills across borders, the capacity of battle-hardened extremist groups to come after us only increases,” Obama said at West Point. “And the need for a new strategy reflects the fact that today’s principal threat no longer comes from a centralized al Qaeda leadership. Instead it comes from decentralized al Qaeda affiliates and extremists, many with agendas focused in the countries where they operate.

  • On June 24, 2014, after ISIS captured Mosul, Iraq, SecState Kerry admitted this came as a big surprise to the Obama Administration.

We don’t have people embedded in those [Iraqi] units, and so obviously nobody knew that,” Kerry said on Fox News.

Yes, well, that’s what happens when President Ostrich insists we all play Let’s Pretend GWOT Is Over.

  • On July 23, 2014, an Obama State Department official said ISIS is a “full-blown army … worse than al Qaeda.”

It is al Qaeda in its doctrine, ambition and, increasingly, in its threat to U.S. interests. … In fact, it is worse than al Qaeda,” McGurk told the House Armed Services Committee. “[ISIS] is no longer simply a terrorist organization. It is now a full-blown army seeking to establish a self-governing state through the Tigris and Euphrates valley in what is now Syria and Iraq.”

  • On August 8, 2014, Obama said the U.S. has a “strategic interest” in stopping them.

We do have a strategic interest in pushing back ISIL. We’re not going to let them create some caliphate through Syria and Iraq, but we can only do that if we know that we’ve got partners on the ground who are capable of filling the void,” Obama told The New York Times. (IS, ISIS, and ISIL are all the same group.)

These “partners on the ground” would be the coalition Bush assembled for his “stupid” war …

Those former allies that Obama has systematically ignored and disrespected since Bush retired? Those partners that Obama left hanging when he pulled our troops out so he could do his “I killed Osama” end zone dance again and again?

  • On August 20, 2014, after ISIS beheaded U.S. journalist James Foley, Obama called the group a “cancer” and SecState Kerry called them “evil.”

Junior Varsity to Evil Cancer in just seven months?!

Isn’t this like a doctor who ignored your symptoms until they had grown into a Stage 4 malignancy?

  • August 21, 2014: Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel says ISIS is “beyond anything that we’ve seen”

“ISIL is as sophisticated and well-funded as any group that we have seen. They’re beyond just a terrorist group. They marry ideology, a sophistication of strategic and tactical military prowess. They are tremendously well funded. This is beyond anything that we’ve seen. So we must prepare for everything. And the only way you do that is that you take a cold, steely, hard look at it and … get ready.”

Oh, right. “Cold, steely, hard” and “prepare for everything” … you mean, like how BUSH did it?

UPDATE: ISIS in Iraq

2014_08 24 Map of Iraq-ISIS strikes

August 21, 2014 Report by the Hammurabi Human Rights Organization n the situation in North Iraq, via Canon Andrew’s Facebook:

Refugees
* In Arbel there are now 5 refugee deaths per day, going back to August 7.
* The number of refugees has overwhelmed the relief agencies. There is scarcity of food and shelter. Distribution channels are slow and ineffective.
* Refugees are anxious about the military operations against ISIS in their towns and villages, and they fear for their property, especially in light of the fact that many of their former Muslim neighbors have participated in looting and plundering.
* The number of Assyrian Christian families seeking asylum has risen as hundreds of families who are now in Turkey are waiting in front of United Nations offices in Ankara to register and apply for emigration.
* The vast majority of the refugees are pressuring religious and political leaders to find a way for a rapid mass exodus out of Iraq, because of all the suffering, hardship and difficulty they are experiencing. Large numbers of families are still sleeping on sidewalks and parks and there is the fear this situation and their plight will extend into winter.
* There is anger, frustration and tension among the refugees as they are being moved from the halls and courtyards of churches into United Nations camps.
* The Ministry of Displacement and Migration is extremely slow in giving grants to refugees. Thousands of families in Dohuk have yet to receive grants. In the words of one refugee, “they move on the back of a turtle.”
* The condition of Yazidi refugees is becoming critical for lack of camps to house them, forcing hundreds of families to shelter in unfinished buildings in the city of Dohuk.

Mosul
* There is rising discontent with ISIS in Mosul.
* Female doctors have gone on strike to protest ISIS interference in the treatment of patients, especially during childbirth or treatment of some gynecological illnesses.

Iraq Update from Canon Andrew

August 17, 2014: Dear Friends,

The traumas of the IS invasion continue to devastate Iraq. The terrific rampage and the slaughtering is continuing. The stories remain too awful to tell, the pictures simply too terrible to show.

All we can do is take assurance in the fact that G-d is our refuge. It is difficult saying that when all, including one’s home, has been taken from you, when some of your loved ones have been killed and when there are ten families sharing a four roomed house and everything you ever had has been taken from you. The one thing that the Christians are saying is that despite everything, Yeshua still loves them.

I have been back in England for part of the week. … On Monday I return to Israel for a short while before returning to Baghdad. Dr Sarah is back in the North of Iraq working on the relief work. Please pray that the Lord will protect us and give us the strength to keep going.

Blessings, Andrew

“Don’t do stupid sh*t.”

Remember when VP candidate Sarah Palin was ridiculed for allegedly failing to know what the Bush Doctrine was? Of course, loads of experts had differing opinions about the answer to that question, but logic and facts never seem to get in the way of Lefties trashing Righties.

Nor, it seems, do logic and facts get in the way of the current president’s approach to foreign policy. According to White House aides, Barack himself sums up the Obama Doctrine as, “Don’t do stupid sh*t.”

It’s scary and sad that “the smartest president in the history of humanity” can’t come up with anything more profound than a high school cliché upon which to base his administration’s far-reaching decisions.

Though … come to think of it … a high school cliché mentality does seem to be the best description I’ve heard yet for his whole approach to governing.

Even in his first term, Obama refused to go to more than half of his intelligence briefings … and this during a period when we had troops fighting on three fronts. Now that he isn’t facing a re-election campaign again, ever, he’s got even less incentive to do the job properly.

According to the Ulsterman’s inside-the-White-House source, shortly before the Obamas left for their five-star Martha’s Vineyard vacay, President Obama REFUSED to stand still long enough to listen to an update on the dangerous situations in Syria, Iraq and Gaza.

2014_08 09 OBAMA crises in ME don't mean sht to him

Ulsterman’s source said that Obama’s Deputy National Security Adviser, Tony Blinken, was seen entering Barack Obama’s second-floor study, then following him out and down the hallway, with a Pentagon official in tow.

As the annoyed and petulant president quickened his pace toward the private residence, he was heard telling the two men, “Don’t bother me with this sh*t.”

Words fail me.

Here is a brief report from my Fox News Update email about just one piece of that “sh*t” he can’t be bothered to bother with …

“The U.N. is raising the alarm over “barbaric acts” of sexual violence and “savage rapes” by Islamist militants in northwestern Iraq.

“The U.N. says ISIS has abducted women and children and forced some 1,500 Christians and members of other minority sects into sexual slavery.

“Last month, the U.N. estimated 1.2 million Iraqis have fled their homes in fear for their lives as the Islamists issue ultimatums that they convert to a virulent strain of Islam and adhere to Sharia law or die.

“And it’s not like they’re making it a secret. The members of the Islamist army use social media to publicize their atrocities in order to terrify their subjects and recruit similarly evil-minded men to their cause.”

And here is another from Sky News …

Some 6,000 to 8,000 refugees have managed to escape to a makeshift camp in Dohuk province, but up to 30,000 still remain on Mount Sinjar in what a British aid worker has told Sky news is a “heartbreaking humanitarian crisis.” Sky’s Sherine Tadros is at the Zakho camp, which has no electricity and just three or four toilets.

“They’ve told us harrowing stories,” she said. “One man has just told us how he saw four children die of thirst. There was nowhere to bury them on the mountain so they just put rocks on their bodies.

“Another man was saying the children were so thirsty, their parents started cutting their own hands and giving them blood to drink.

“And then they make the perilous journey to these areas – sometimes 12 hours. And when they get here the conditions are pretty dire. There is no electricity, no aid agencies – this is just a makeshift camp.”

Refugees in the camp – some of whom have gunshot wounds – are surviving on food and water being brought to them by locals. The international community is starting to take action – but the situation is now unprecedented, according to an aid worker on the ground.

“There is still a big humanitarian crisis going on – what I saw was heartbreaking,” British Kurd Taban Shoresh told Sky News. “We need to do something to rescue those people – 30,000 people trapped on a mountain by IS in fear of extermination. There is no way out – the only way to get to them is by helicopter.”

  • August 13, 2014: The United Nations said it considered Iraq in general to be at the highest level of humanitarian crisis and the British prime minister, David Cameron, announced that Britain would play a role in helping.
  • August 14, 2014: The Obama Administration issued a statement saying the situation isn’t all that bad, so we won’t be mounting any rescues. The statement attributed this important decision to “the interagency”, a vague bureaucratic term that apparently means somebody other than President Obama, Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel or the Army’s Central Command chief, General Lloyd Austin.

Once again, may I just express my thanks to Obama voters for inflicting this self-serving, narcissistic, lazy BASTARD not just on us, but on the entire world. And by thanks, I mean … well, you know what I mean.

Canon Andrew White: On-the-ground reports from Iraq

2014_08 01 Baghdad - 8 shot in face for refusing to convert

Excerpts from the Facebook of Canon Andrew White, Baghdad, Iraq.

August 3, 2014: Many people have asked they can give to us in our crisis. USA http://www.frrmeamerica.org. UK and elsewhere http://www.frrme.org.

August 5, 2014: I have spent much of the day with one Iraq’s most senior Sunni Imam, Sheik Khalid Al Mullah. He has openly and clearly spoken out against the evil events, massacres and slaughters committed by ISIS. He not only stated they were totally demonic, he said they were totally against everything Islam stands for. He stated that Christianity was the very root of Iraqi society, therefore Christians are at the heart of Iraqi society. We went to see the US Ambassador together and the Sheik was able to share these points with him.

August 6, 2014: I am just at Baghdad International Airport heading up north to see the people ousted from Mosul. It has been so good being with our Archdeacon a person who though American had spent a life time serving in the Middle East. He had no doubt that this was where I was called to be and this is where I must stay and serve and to that I say Hallelujah.

August 7, 2014: Over a hundred people were killed in Baghdad last night. There is one other person here doing what we are doing with his wife. Dr Plumb and his wife Peggy are both in their late 70’s, they are Mormons have been here several months using all their own money. He is our closest friend here. All the time people say to me how can you work with a Mormorn. Well he is the only other person here doing the work of Jesus caring for the poor and the dying and we love each other.

August 8, 2014: We are living in worst crisis I have ever known. Working day and night to meet the needs of those who have nothing. We are providing a huge amount and as you will see on this video we are all very tired, but our lord is sustaining us.

August 9, 2014: The extent of the persecution here in Iraq cannot be described. The massacres, the crucifixions, the rapes. The most horrendous massacre of the innocents since the Holocaust. Yet amongst all of this we give thanks because ours is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Captain Zero strikes again

On August 31, 2010, President Obama announced the end of combat operations in Iraq, saying this had been his “pledge to the American people as a candidate for this office” and that it was “what we’ve done.” American troops remained in an advisory capacity to assist the Iraqis in assuming security of their own nation.

On October 21, 2011, President Obama announced that all remaining American troops would be shortly leaving Iraq. “As a candidate for President, I pledged to bring the war in Iraq to a responsible end. … After taking office, I announced a new strategy that would end our combat mission in Iraq and remove all of our troops by the end of 2011. … Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki and I are in full agreement about how to move forward.”

CNN Presidential debate: Obama, Romney spar over troops in Iraq [1:17]

2012_11 05 Obama promise to end war, ended it

This morning, President Obama was asked if he regretted pulling the remaining U.S. troops from Iraq in 2011.  He said it wasn’t his decision to do so!  BUSH negotiated the SOFA draw down and MALIKI had not wanted any Americans to stay in Iraq!

2014_08 09 Obama blaming Bush Maliki

But on October 21, 2011, the New York Times had reported that American military officials were dismayed by the complete withdrawal of forces from Iraq, saying the Iraqi’s security was still too fragile to endure without an American military presence. They said that the Bush administration had negotiated the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) as a symbolic gesture to help Iraq establish itself as a sovereign nation but that had always been an understanding that a sizable American force would actually stay in Iraq beyond that date.

If Obama had wanted our forces to stay in Iraq, he could’ve made it happen. Now that the country’s gone to hell, he suddenly doesn’t remember that the military warned him this could happen or that he repeatedly boasted about and took full credit for the removal of every last one of our troops from a still fragile Iraq.

What a schmuck.
