A return to principled realism
President Trump formally unveiled his Administration’s National Security Strategy (NSS).
The main points are:
- Protect the homeland, the American people, and the American way of life
- Promote American prosperity
- Preserve peace through strength
- Advance American influence
At 65 pages, the NSS will serve as the foundation for more granular security plans, including the National Counterterrorism Strategy, the Nuclear Posture Review, and the Ballistic Missile Defense Review.

The Most Dangerous National Security Threat No One’s Talking About
Congressman Trent Franks wrote today at Townhall [excerpts]:
The North Korean dictatorship boasted that they have tested a hydrogen bomb underground in September.
Such a hydrogen bomb has the power to destroy Manhattan, killing 8.5 million New York City residents in a couple of seconds.
But, there is a prospect potentially even more deadly and terrifying.
A hydrogen bomb, exploded within Earth’s atmosphere over a central location like Kansas, would emit an electromagnetic pulse that could destroy electronic devices for thousands of miles.
This could include all the devices we regularly depend upon that require electronics to function – vehicles, our water and plumbing systems, heating and air conditioning, refrigeration… just to name a few.
As of now, we do not have sufficient hardware fixes to prevent such a detonation from damaging or destroying our electric grid.
It is also imperative that we do what is necessary to dismantle North Korea’s nuclear capability and prevent Iran from gaining such capability. These dangerous and escalating situations cannot be allowed to continue on their present path under any circumstances.
The time for naiveté is over. Congress must act now to allocate the appropriate funds so we can be prepared for an EMP attack on American soil.

Stop Grandstanding About Niger

At The Daily Signal, former Green Beret and Heritage Foundation Fellow Steven Bucci urges politicians and the media to stop unnecessarily politicizing the work that American special forces were conducting in Niger, writing that “grandstanding senators and talking heads don’t help make America safe, but missions just like the one in Niger do.”
EXCERPT: The loss of four special operations soldiers in Niger is a tragedy. We grieve as a nation, rightly, whenever we lose any of the brave young men and women who serve in uniform.
That said, politicians and news media are turning the event into a farce.
Having served as an Army Green Beret for 28 years, I cannot let the mischaracterizations — many by leaders who clearly know better — continue without a comment. …
The U.S. has conducted these kinds of missions around the world since the 1950s. At times we have had as few as a dozen of these operations, and at others several hundred in as many as 80-plus countries simultaneously.
These missions are routine and have short-circuited conflicts on nearly every continent in the world at one time or another.

“The big anti-corruption news isn’t Comey’s testimony. It’s this new email Judicial Watch uncovered from #HillaryClinton confirming that, as she says, ‘Against the advice from security hawks, I still carry my Blackberry.’
Remember, #JamesComey said that Mrs. Clinton shouldn’t be prosecuted because she didn’t have the intent. This email blows that out of the water and shows why Mrs. Clinton should be held accountable to the full extent of the law.”
Good point in the comments: “There is nothing in any laws that allows intent as a defense. Besides this would be an issue for the judge and jury not the investigative police.”

Defend Our National Security from Jihad
ISIS (the Islamic State) has publicly called for jihadists to infiltrate and attack America.
President Trump’s Executive order implements many of the ACLJ’s policy proposals:
1) a pause in refugees
2) creation of extreme vetting
3) blocks jihadists from terrorist hotbeds.
Radical Leftist judges have blocked this order, but President Trump is appealing.
The ACLJ is preparing to file legal briefs at the Supreme Court to defend the constitutionality of this lawful Executive order.

Let the Budget Battle Begin
The president will reveal his budget today. Much of what he is proposing is already known. The democrat objections are pre-written and Kermit and Big Bird are ready to go on TV and whine about having their funding cut. From all quarters of the liberal world will come a hue and cry not heard by anybody who has not thrown boiling water on a cat or been in close proximity to a slaughterhouse. It is predictable as the sunrise.
Trump budget expected to seek historic contraction of federal workforce
President Trump’s budget proposal this week would shake the federal government to its core if enacted, culling back numerous programs and expediting a historic contraction of the federal workforce.
This would be the first time the government has executed cuts of this magnitude — and all at once — since the drawdown following World War II, economists and budget analysts said.
The America First budget: Trump wants $1.5 BILLION for the wall and cash for the military but will slash foreign aid and eliminate funding for PBS and NPR
Trump will release a budget blueprint today that makes cuts to discretionary spending to fund his border wall and the military build-up he’s been promising
State Department is cut deepest with a 28% reduction to its foreign aid division
The Environmental Protection Agency and the Housing and Urban Development Department are also expected to suffer
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which provides support to NPR and PBS, will see its funding phased out
Trump’s budget may not make it past the House and Senate – a top Republican has said it’s ‘dead on arrival’
Dramatic cuts make way room for $1.5B for his wall with Mexico in 2018 and $54 billion for defense without adding to the federal deficit

If you find a $54 billion addition, you will find a $54 billion reduction,” he said. “We have simply not added to the deficit in order to accomplish these policies. You’ll see reductions in the State Department, the Environmental Protection Agency, and in many agencies, as he tries to shrink the role of the federal government.”
The way this works is Trump proposes his budget to actually bring some sanity to federal spending.This,of course,will never fly.Taxpayer giveaways are the mothers’ milk of politics,especially in the democrat party.There will be argument over cuts,the left will threaten to shut down the government and with the help of the media whores republicans will be blamed.It’s happened before and the GOP has always backed down.it will be interesting to see how this president handles it.
