Saturday’s Path – February 19th, 2011

by Dee

Welcome!

It looks like it’s going to be another spring-like day in the middle of the country.  What’s going on in your neck of the woods?

And now, a literary contribution from my darling husband:

There once were some teachers on strike
About whom was much to dislike
Their lawmaker allies
Have fled under night skies
And the protesters think it’s the Third Reich

😀

Happy Posting!

  2. I posted to Sarah Palin’s letter. Union protesters annoy me, especially that idiot who was bragging that “the unions rule Detroit.” If I were responsible for THAT city, I’d be in hiding!

  4. Anyone who wonders why so many Wisconsin residents seem to have so little sympathy for the teachers who have staged walkouts and protests this week, watch this…

  5. Seem on my very liberal friend’s facebook status this morning:

“for all who are going to be in Madison today: The Tea Partiers may very well try to incite violence. They want this in order to point the finger of blame at us, after days of peaceful demonstrations. Keep your distance, be polite. (we should form a ring of people around their demonstration, facing outward, isolating and ignoring them.) GIVE FAUX NEWS NO LEVERAGE! Pass it on. Repost”

Unbelievable! The union thugs are the violent ones, not the Tea Partiers.

  6. The real reason the union bosses are apoplectic and calling for Scott Walker’s public execution:

“Walker supports denying public employees — with the exception of police and firemen — the ability to engage in collective bargaining over anything but wages. This would make it harder for unions to boost compensation with ever-more-generous benefits that, in the near term, don’t seem to cost anything. And he wants to end the practice of the state deducting union dues from the paychecks of its employees. Unions would have to collect dues themselves, and state employees might opt not to pay dues at all. Walker, in short, wants Wisconsin to stop participating in a conspiracy to fleece itself.” –Rich Lowry

      • Hey, tell your sweetie we enjoyed his limerick!

(p.s. My daughter and I love writing limericks. Sometime I’ll have to share a few of them.)

Hehehe, he wasn’t too happy about me making him do one for us. The sheer quantity of limericks this man can produce is amazing – he has a friend who blogs, and my hubby’s thing is that no matter what the content of the post is, he puts a limerick based on the post’s content in as a comment. Some of them are pretty funny!
I’m glad you liked it, I’ll let him know.

Okay guys. Stand up and take a bow. GREAT job. I just read through from the first blog, and now am going back to actually look at what y’all wrote about in more detail, but it’s already got that wonderful blend of personal acquaintances discussing politics and keeping eachother apprised. Perfect.

      • They are beautiful — especially that stag with the snow-white antlers! Wow!

I’ve lived in this state almost 33 years, but I’ve never seen a white deer. The only kind we have around here are the regular (brown) white-tail deer, and those we have in abundance. Our house is inside the city limits, although on the fringes of town where there are lots of woods, so we have deer in our yard all the time. They are extremely destructive to gardens, landscaping, etc. I long ago gave up trying to grow vegetables in my yard — it’s a lost cause unless you have a six-foot chain-link fence topped by razor wire. Between the bunnies, the deer, the raccoons, the squirrels, and the groundhogs… it was hopeless. So much easier to buy fresh vegetables at the farmers’ market!

        • p.s. The resident groundhogs live under my garden shed. They like to eat my flowers in the summer, but I forgive them, because my daughter considers them pets. She also has tamed the chipmunks who live in our yard, and trained them to eat out of her hand. She definitely has a way with animals.
