Love that ad for Rockford! I live in west central Wisconsin, and several times a year I drive down to Chicago to visit friends, and since the interstate passes right through Rockford, I always drive by the Clock Tower Inn. I’ll never be able to drive by it again without giggling.

Honestly, and this is really pathetic, but I have no clue what is going on in my city the last few months. Between traveling, working, and spending too much time on the computer I can’t remember reading a local story or watching the local news since before Christmas. I know more about Madison, Wisconsin and Tripoli and Cairo than my own backyard. I’ll try to pay more attention.

There was a kind of pathetic little group of union people standing at a busy intersection downtown the other day, holding signs, trying to get the attention of passers-by. I don’t know how long they stood out there, but I’d be surprised if they lasted very long in this cold. Maybe they were taking it in shifts, sending one group out at a time and then trading places so the frozen people could thaw out, or something. I don’t know. I seldom discuss any of this with locals, because this is a company town and tempers flare and get way out of control really fast. I don’t even want to go to church tomorrow because I’ll have to listen to more of the same old b.s. from the people there (nearly all of whom either belong to a union or are related to someone who is). If it weren’t for the fact that I’m the church music director I would be very tempted to sleep late and skip it!

I have just now finished reading all the links in the Grudge Report. That John Heyward at Human Events is something else. If I had to guess, I would have said that Gov. Palin wrote that sassy article. I loved the first line: “The President called the situation in Libya ‘unacceptable,’ and then proceeded to accept it.” It is a pretty damning account of the past week. Everyone read it if you haven’t yet – you’ll be glad you did.

Well, you’re several steps ahead of me. I’ve had a very down day here, but I did manage to get my kids’ hair cut and help hubby type up a newsletter (why do they always take so long?!?).
So, I will now proceed directly to the link you proposed and attempt to insert at least a tidbit of information into my head before I have to turn in. Thanks for the tip. And thanks to PETE for the links! They’re perfect for a day like today.
