Thursday’s Path – March 3rd, 2011

by Dee

Good Morning, PoliNators!

Running around frantically….I’m here!  So sorry I’m late with the thread, we had a date night last night and it completely threw off my routine!   The carbs plus wine combo proved too much for my feeble mind and I forgot to schedule the Open Thread.  I’ll see if I can repost the Grudge Report over here.  My apologies!

I’m going to take it easy this morning while my daughter is still with grandma.  I love mornings like this!

So….what’s going on in your world?

    • Love that banner the pro-abortion crowd is holding — “Abortion providers save women’s lives.” (Guess they haven’t heard of Kermit Gosnell?) As the late Joseph Sobran pointed out, calling a person who kills unborn babies an “abortion provider” is like calling Osama bin Laden a “terror provider.”

Why, oh why do I ever read the comments at Mediaite? The article and video was humorous, but whoa – those comments are mean.

Looks like Ohio got something done yesterday. Good luck to Kasich, or whatever their new governor’s name is. I think I like him.

Thanks to Pete for all the links and the education.

  2. Good morning all!

Question for you – have any of you noticed an uptick in the number of letters to the editor in your local paper that support Democrat, liberal, and or progressive policies? Over the past several weeks, our local rag has been printing at least 3 – 6 LTEs promoting the lib agenda when usually we see maybe 1 or 2 a week. Admittedly this is a small town (50,000 pop) daily, and the leg is in session – but this is a significant difference. It definitely looks orchestrated – I am just wondering if this is a Montana thing or if it’s more widespread.

Are any of you seeing something like this? Is this a new “astroturf” plan?

    • This would be good to watch. I don’t get my local newspaper (I get the Tampa one) but I read some of it online. I occasionally check the letters but not always. Today there’s one about funding NPR/PBS (ProgressiveBullS**t?) which hits on Fox (of course) but also CNN, and NPR/PBS are just oh-so-wonderful for good and objective news (barf!).

    • Our local rag is *always* full of letters from foaming-at-the-mouth leftists. This is a university town, where more than half the population either attends the U, teaches at the U, or works for the U in some other capacity. Of the rest, about half work for either the public school system, the county nursing home, or some other state, county, or city-run agency– all of whom are unionized. Of the remainder, a large number are involved in some business that depends on the U for economic survival, since the students are such a huge percentage of the population. This includes all of the many bars, fast-food joints, hair and tanning and nail salons, movie theaters, etc. that are near the campus. Without the U, most of the private-sector businesses in town — the ones that haven’t already been destroyed by the recession — would fold. Thus it borders on suicidal to say anything negative about anything having to do with the U.

  3. Here’s a good analysis from Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey about what’s at stake in Wisconsin:

It’s totally a slap in the face to the voters by these thugs who lost the election.

    • Yep… I’m a Wisconsin voter, and I feel totally slapped in the face. And kicked in the [insert unmentionable body parts here]. And… you get the idea.

What a bunch of sore losers! Say what you want about conservatives, but when we lose an election, we don’t start rioting and threatening people and using vile language and committing mass acts of vandalism on public property, as these thugs are doing.
