Dearest and I were talking about this over breakfast and agreed the Gini Coefficient of wealth distribution is a fairly meaningless statistic.

E.g., A population where the poorest person is wealthy and the richest is a gazillionaire would have a high GC while a population where everyone is dirt poor would have a low GC.

In fact, we find the entire concept of income/wealth inequality to be meaningless. What difference does it make how rich the rich are, just so long as the poor have their basic needs met and are free to speak and worship and travel and change their economic circumstances?

I think I agree with you that it doesn’t make much difference. I will say that almost all of my customers seem to be wealthy. At least they live like they are, and thank the good Lord for it, or my employees and I would be in bad shape.
