This is something I have been trying to get across to my EU friends when they criticize America.
I have asked them why are they so critical of America’s past? Don’t you understand, we are YOU? It was your ancestors who founded America as much as any present day American.
But Europe is not a continent of dreamers any more.
The dreamers left the old country to become Americans.
We are children of the dreamers.
And we will never stop believing in the American dream.
That is why we are so exceptional.
This is why I have faith that America will overcome this march to socialism when every other civilization before us has failed.
We know what it took for our ancestors to be free, and we will always be thankful for their sacrifices, for their dreams for us.
No matter how many of us they try to force to drink the kool-aid,
there will always be more of us who will fight for the right to have our tea.

The rest of us believe in the dreams of our freedom fighting-god fearing-self-sacrificing forefathers (and mothers!).
